Mad Ang, you have now entered a dangerous field. These Italian progressive rock groups are made up of musicians with 6 to 10 years of classical studies at music conservatories (Italian exclusive music schools where it's hard to get in and where you learn music sight-reading, an instrument and composition). By classical studies I mean stuff like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Vivaldi, Paganini, Verdi, Puccini, etc. Now the conservatories also have classes in Jazz, contemporary and popular music. Groups such as PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi), New Trolls, Orme, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Area, to name just the most famous, are part of this family of musicians. Listening to their music and watching them play, you immediately understand the difference in technique and skill between them and those who are in the charts today.

It's not dark for an Italian listener, but that kind of melancholy that is pleasant, not depressing. It's the story of someone who loses the perceiving of the self in the landscape, feeling part of it.
Fun fact about the drummer Franz di Cioccio: when Led Zeppelin have lost the great Bonzo, Franz has been canditated for substitution. He finally refused, he wanted to be remembered as an active PFM member, and not as Bonzo's substitute.
You know, Lorenzo, I'm not so convinced of what Franz boast about, he's a very good drummer but a little bit of a braggart. As a Led Zeppelin fan, I know they decided to stop playing out of respect for their friend John Bonham, so, at least him, was never auditioned. Anyway, Impressioni di settembre, is one of my favourite italian songs and I don't love italian music that much, despite being an italian girrrrl! 🤟🤟🤟
This memory comes directly from the voice of Franz Di Cioccio, on the consideration and esteem he received from people of the caliber of Led Zeppelin: he stated"...It went like this: while we were on tour, many years ago, an article came out in an English newspaper that spoke very well of me, where my style was approached to that of John Bonham: whoever wrote it found similarities especially in the use of case, although I see in me a sort of more 'Latin' Bonham. The fact is that one night Armando Gallo calls me from Los Angeles [journalist and photographer who in '74 served as the press office at PFM for the first tour in the USA] telling me that Led Zeppelin had asked him about me. Let me be clear, there was no audition. I've never met Led Zeppelin: I know that there are different versions of this story, but that's how it went. I don't even remember if Bonham was still alive or not. I think they just wanted to make sure they could track me down. I was very happy, for me it was a great satisfaction, but it is clear that I had my band, I was not interested in embarking on other projects"
Let me spend some words on awesome bassist Patrick Djivas, since most of non italians may not to know him. In the 70's he was great friend of Jaco. He received the first fretless bass (a stingray) directly from the hands of Mr Leo Fender in '76. Just to remark how valuable he is. Look for some gig and enjoy
Hi there....found your video purely by chance. I'm glad you appreciate PFM,as they are one of my favourite bands. Have seen them live 3 times....1st time was in Edinburgh,Scotland in 1974 Most recently in Sondrio.Italy in September 2019. They are brilliant live ,even though like you I don't understand Italian very well. Even when playing in Italy they sing some of their songs in English.
This is the best italian prog you can imagine. They had some of their albums translated in english by Pete Sinfield, King Crimson's lyricist. This song is The World Becomes the World in english. The singer here is not the main singer in the band. The keyboard player and the drummer are lead singers too. I advice you to listen to their album Photos of Ghosts.
Random fact: they were the very first Italian group to use a Moog synthesizer in a song, just imagine Italian people in 1971 hearing for the first time the Moog kick in after those deep lyrics and build up, totally insane. In the studio version you can hear it much better

This channel it's so nice! These songs are so familiar to us, and it's so nice to hear someone that is not Italian and even though can appreciate and have some fun. Tanks dude, I really appreciate that. Except for the verbs, Italian is not too difficult (is like Spanish), it's a pity that you can find all the lyrics. If you would like to visit our country I would be happy. Have a nice day!
One of the greatest Italian bands from the sixties. Wonderful lyrics too. Seriously, it's not even easy to comment, they are great. "I'm only a man in search for his own self. I'm j the sound of my steps ..." just to give you an idea of the sense of the song. Just look at the stage and how they are there ... I agree, "boom" is the appropriate comment 🤩
On every september 1st, namely tomorrow, I wake up and listen to this song... it's a sort of ritual. And tomorrow, as soon as I open my eyes, I'm singing "Quante gocce di rugiada intorno a me / cerco il Sole, ma non c'è" (also because I wake up early... 😄). Keep on listening our beautiful music, man! You're doing such a great job by spreading these, by Americans (almost) unknown, italian masterpieces! Greetings from, obviously, Italy...🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Franco Mussida's voice is absolutely fantastic in this song, and the fun fact is that he is not the lead vocalist of PFM... And Franz Di Cioccio is one of the best drummers ever. The build of this song is quite like Stairway to heaven.

PFM is the best Italy had to offer simply because of their melodies. Their newest release that just came out Oct 2021 shows they are still the greatest. In the last 30 I have never enjoyed a new release from a classic artist like Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, ELO etc but the new PFM album is their best yet. My first PFM album was “Photos of Ghosts” from 1973 released on ELP’s Manticore label.

PFM was an Italian progressive rock band, perhaps the most important Italian band, they also had some success in the USA, their concert in Central Park in NY remained famous, there were 220,000 people, and a year-long tour with Peter Frampton. In the USA they are still considered at the level of Genesis, King Crimson and Gentle Giant.

I am going to give you the names of other Italian progressive rock bands from the '70s which, in my opinion, are worth listening to: Le Orme, Osanna, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Area, Goblin (especially Profondo Rosso, which is the main theme of the horror film of the same name). Your reactions are the best, and I believe it is great that you are open to experiencing music from other countries. Kudos to you! 🤍
If possible, add "Museo Rosenbach" and their wonderful Zarathustra
Le Orme e i PFM I piu grandi gruppi rock progressive anni 70!
I've always loved this song. It's pure poetry and it gives me goosebumps
This are GOD of italian prog, man you've listen to the best song!!!!
Listen to Giacomo Voli's cover at The Voice and thank me later 😂 you're welcome 😉💜
Mamma mia, io amo quella versione 😍
Yes! First time I listened to him I was O_o. What a voice
Stupenda quella versione davvero
PFM is the best Italy had to offer simply because of their melodies. Their newest release that just came out Oct 2021 shows they are still the greatest. In the last 30 I have never enjoyed a new release from a classic artist like Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, ELO etc but the new PFM album is their best yet. My first PFM album was “Photos of Ghosts” from 1973 released on ELP’s Manticore label.
I've seen some of your videos, you've heard some of the masterpieces from Italian Music. :) I really appreciated you did those videos and you enjoyed them. Keep going man, you did a very good job!
you should try the version of Patti Smith with the italian band MArlene Kuntz. PFM entered the US charts twice with their english language albums in the seventies. We also have to say that in present times they are not influential and stopped selling records many years ago. They only make concerts.
PFM is real legend of these years. The drummer is Franz Di Cioccio: he knows what he’s doing.
And the voice is of course Franco Mussida.
While on bass guitar Patrick Dijvas! After the death of John ‘Bonzo’ the three remaining Zeps asked to Franz DiCioccio to move to London for and audition but he refused

....of course Mussida!
definetely one of the best italian tracks ever, from a extraordinary prog rock band.
Welcome to the finest italian prog rock
Band straordinaria!! Grazie Angelo!💖
La migliore Band Prog Italiana di sempre! Una canzone da brividi 😍
The moog solo is like a manifesto of Italian prog rock.
This is The University of italian Prog Rock, back to the 70s Real music Masters.
Yeeeeeeeeeeesssss! The best song in the world!❤😎
pure art! amazing... good choice ✌️
Love that melody, I often find my self whistling it at random times.
Ottimo come sempre grazie
PFM was an Italian progressive rock band, perhaps the most important Italian band, they also had some success in the USA, their concert in Central Park in NY remained famous, there were 220,000 people, and a year-long tour with Peter Frampton.
In the USA they are still considered at the level of Genesis, King Crimson and Gentle Giant.
Brividi ogni volta, grande PFM!
One of the best shows ever! The Forum, Inglewood, California 1974. Opened for Blue Oyster Cult. ON ONE wanted to hear Blue Oyster Cult. Crowd still cheering for PFM half way through BOC's set...BOC bassist fell off the back of the stage. Were you there? ;-)
Italian 70's prog music..... Best of the best
Ciao Bello.... I just find your channel ... LOVE what you re doing... Ciao ;-)
eeeeeeeeeh ma allora vai fino in fondo bravissimo! 👏👏👏👏👏❤️Love you
That chorus was covered by dream theater in a live show in Italy few years ago.
This is pure art….great choice man! 🤘 real musicians! Italian rock prog 🤘🤘
i was looking for this song..... this is awesome, the sound is something .... I don't know awesome
You're are going to the deepest of Italian Rock. Now it's time fore Verdena and CCCP!
Lyrics, Lyrics, Lyrics, The best in Italy are Lyrics. This is a country of Poets, artists. PFM they are known all over the world.
Thank you for your reaction. PFM-Premiata Forneria Marconi is our greatest progressive rock band. The drummer Franz di Cioccio, maybe the greatest drummer in Italy, is also singer. "Impressioni di Settembre" means "impressions of September". Other famous songs are "Celebration", "La carrozza di Hans", "Maestro della voce"
you have to learn the lyrics of this song and listen to it with headphones on a foggy September morning, in front of the most beautiful sunrise you can find!
Bravoooooo!!!!!! You chose the right song! PFM forever!!!!!!
You recognized DiCioccio immidiately even without knowing him...one of best italian drummers, if not the best overall
...And Mussida on vocals and guitars...well... brain explosions :)
PFM the history of Italian progressive rock !! And finally in October (after continuous postponements due to the pandemic) I will go to their concert in Milan !! Thanks for your reaction !!
This is the fisrt hit of Premiata Forneria Marconi ( PFM ) ,
a band performing prog rock at the beginning of its carreer.
Great musicians !
Some years ago, music was a serious thing !
You should listen to PFM's LIVE in USA !
Just 4 words to describe this masterpiece: best Italian song ever!
Great job Bro!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
PFM:
1.LA CARROZA DI HANS
2. RIVER OF LIFE
No way!!! You amaze me❤️❤️❤️
My Dad used to Play with Franz Di Cioccio the drummer) back in the 60's....
Listen to the song Creuza De Ma from Fabrizio De Andre!
The album is one of the favourite album of all time from David Byrne (talking heads)
Hey friend read the lyrics, it's pure poetry. It tells of a man overwhelmed by the immeasurable beauty of nature, captured in an instant in September, a moment in which everything seems still between the luxuriance of youth and the maturity of being an adult.
Ciao Ang!!⚡ Bellissimo video 🤩
I suggest you another great song from another great italian group, Subsonica. The title is "Coriandoli a Natale". It means "Confetti at Christmas". So beautiful the music, the voice and the meaning, look for it.
One of the best progressive rock band ever. I met them personally few years ago. Great musicians and beatiful people. React to another song, Celebration. It's awesome too
40 years ago I went to a concert of these gentlemen..Premiata Forneria Marconi..why Ang you r doing this to me!?....haaaaa amazing memories...thanks much mate indeed...especially for the good vibes ..ciao bello
