One of the most gut-wrenching lines ever put to song. "Mama (ooohhh). I don't want to die. I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all." Just think how much this person must hate himself for what he did by wishing he'd never even been born. POWERFUL!!
What I love about this channel is that you guys always go in depth with your analysis and your thoughts. And, honestly, I think that you underestimated yourself. Even recent increase, 3 songs for 8 bucks, is a bargain for this level of engagement. Namaste.
Freddie mercury made a piano into his headboard on his bed. He wrote part of this on it. The drummer says Freddie told him the true meaning of the song but will not tell.
I saw them sing this live in 1976 from the first row. Freddie Mercury gave me a rose at the end of their concert. Amazingly brilliant band. Queen 2 is my favorite album. March of the Black Queen.
If you want to hear humanity at its best look up the Green Day audience singing this before the concert. Absolutely awe inspiring and a great tribute to Freddie
I've seen a theory online that the confrontational portion of the song is essentially the trial for the character's soul. I have thought that portions of the song may be analogous to the stages of reaction to grief, or the realization of the gravity of his actions. Initial numbness and resignation, then eventually the angry reaction to how he would be treated as a prisoner, ending with the desperate desire for escape of any prisoner. "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye, so you think you can love me and leave me to die. Ooh baby, can't do this to me baby, just gotta get out, just gotta get out of this place!"
The gun is a metaphor about killing the image Freddie Mercury likely thought his mother had of him (his sexuality... I don't know or think that he ever told his mother face to face). Freddie never came out publicly (even to his bandmates) that he was gay, even though a large percentage of his fans and the general public assumed that he was. I did. Back then, fans didn't consider it a bad thing.. but almost every single gay artist never came out publicly. The whole back and forth "let him go", "we will not let him go" reflects the social norms of those times. This is also why Freddie (and his bandmates) refused to give even a single word of what the song was written about. Proclaiming that he was gay and the repercussions that entailed at that time...that is what the song is about.
morthnadic1 Well, since it’s true that Freddie and his bandmates never spoke about what this song was actually about you’re totally assuming or guessing what you’re saying that this song is about. Think about it, dude. Anyone can assume anything, BECAUSE they never spoke about it’s true meaning. That’s how they wanted it.
Ah Hah! With the rock section "...Can't do this to me Baby..." (etc): I NEVER thought/heard the idea before that, that might be from the Mother's point-of-view; makes a lot of sense!
@@kevinpoulton4786 I could be mistaken but I did watch a breakdown with Brian May of the isolated tracks from the master recording. Which is a rare thing they actually get the tape masters out and risk damage to something that old. And I am almost positive Brian May said all the vocals on the master are Freddie.
Hey guys! I just found your channel today and you guys seem super awesome! I'm not sure if you have covered any Iron Maiden but Remember Tomorrow would be a great start on their first album. Amazing song
Thomas Mespelli they’re very in-depth reactors! Not sure if they’ve done Iron Maiden but there is a lot of rock and other genres here. E.g., almost 60 Rush reactions the last time I checked!
This song I believe refers to the Romani people of France who first immigrated to France back in the 15th century. This was during the great Protestant Reformation of Europe. And the rise of its leader Martin Luther of Germany. Bohemia was a protestant country, and considered heretical by many Roman Catholics. Great Reaction video!
The song is about Freddie being Gay, so "Mama Just Kill a Man" is about him killing the man his family wanted him to be.. "Put a gun against his head, Pulled MY trigger, now he's dead", the focus is on MY trigger... Gay Freddie killing the old Freddie.. then you get the line "Mama, life had just begun" which means he's no longer pretending to be anyone else. In the UK in the 70s it wasn't good to be guy at that time, if you liked men and women people would say politely "he goes Any Way The Wind Blows", and if you were religious then it was a sin, and you would go to hell... also the line (I think) "Gallileo" is a reference to Brian May (I think there are other references to other band members but I can't remember), Brian studied astrophysicist. Moving on, "But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me, He's just a poor boy from a poor family", his family left Zanzibar with nothing, hence the "Poor Boy". lastly, "Anyone can see nothing really matters, Nothing really matters to me, Anyway the wind blows" and boy Freddie didn't give a crap, he lived his life as full as he could. Hoped this helped?
One thing I always wondered about the song is, what was the motive of the boy who shot the man? It seems to me that whether or not easy access to a gun is a factor, we all have the potential for evil and it is those that choose violence and carry it out who will perpetrate evil regardless of the weapon. My wise Grandmother once quoted a verse in the bible when Jesus spoke...''If you have hate in your heart for another, it is as if you have committed murder'' Who among us can claim that we have never hated another?
As someone who owned this album in the 70's, this song has always been rightly seen as fake opera. There is no motive for the kid, there is no deeper meaning, it is just fake opera. Still, it's one of my favorites.
In all great art you can always do many different analysis of what it actually ment. For me Bohemian Rhapsody is about Freddie coming out as gay. He killed the hetero man of himself and he is willing to take the bad things that problably will follow. The first part of the song was an unfinished peace he wrote in college ment to be a wild west song. That's why the beginning is ruff "mama I just killed a man....". But Freddie felt it perfectly describe his decision to put the old him away. Anyhow this is the greatest masterpiece ever.
Interesting analysis but I think you need to dig deeper. Perhaps it's not all literal. Consider the possibility that the man he killed was himself, or at least the public perception of who he was. It may not be a murder he is confessing to his mother but something else. This is all just my opinion and it is possible that he just killed someone. But I don't think so. Freddy had a way with lyrics.
Could you please check out some Led Zeppelin? Since I've Been Loving You and any thing and every thing they have done will work maybe check out. Some Fleetwood Mac Rumors Thank you.
Zartoshi boy leaves his wife and “comes out” as GAY! He can never return n to his family. Hr has killed his old self. He tears himself apart, goes crazy, finds a new aelf that can be free.
This is more than a song. It's a masterpiece. A sensation
To this day, how on earth or off earth were they ever able to pull that song off? Awesomeness.

Wow!
Jealous!
I wonder what's it like to be the center of attention for one day. I was a little kid back then.
Queen's music is often referred to as "rock opera"
Freddie fought the record label to get this made, he said he wanted to bring ballet and opera to the masses through rock & roll. What a genius!
Freddie Mercury was Parsi with parents from India!
Freddie Mercury's real name was Farrokh Bulsara and he was born in Zanzibar in Tanzania
If you want to hear humanity at its best look up the Green Day audience singing this before the concert. Absolutely awe inspiring and a great tribute to Freddie
Freddy your missed more then ever Greatest rock singer & show man ....
I love coming here and listening to great music from my youth and watching kirti get her groove on...😊
You guys have spoiled us, Love your reactions!
Savio, you could be my Indian twin lol. If we went out together, no ladies hearts would be safe.
When the world will end this song will roll in the credits
It's the penultimate song. The final song is Comfortably Numb ...
Love you both, your so honest and sincere. Namaste my beautiful friends
She is gorgeous

Freddie was bi-sexual.
I am actually surprised that many people in India don't know Freddy Mercury although he was one of the finest musicians to come out of india
The opera section takes place in the afterlife, where God and the devil are fighting over him. Whether he's worthy of hell or heaven.
Hi from England... Good review
Ah Hah! With the rock section "...Can't do this to me Baby..." (etc): I NEVER thought/heard the idea before that, that might be from the Mother's point-of-view; makes a lot of sense!
He borned in a indian family in Zanzibar.
Freddie was Farsi, not Indian although he was educated partly in India.
No, Indian.
If I am not mistaken in the original recording all the vocals on this one are Freddie. He is basically harmonizing with himself in the studio.
just for the first part.

I think "bohemian" is used in the modern sense as referring to artists, intellectuals and others who live outside the bourgeois mainstream.
Love of my life-studio version with influends in classical music
Best song ever
just epic
A night at the opera.

Check out Don't stop me now. Voted happiest song ever!
A few good suggestion's of queens song's It's Late, Spread your Wings and Get Down Make Love
Namaste my friends ,I urge to watch Queen at Live Aid 1985, it's probably the best ever live performance ever !
Brilliance
Freddie Mercury vocal.brian may guitar. Roger Taylor drums. John Deacon bass.
Freddie representing the south Asians in the house
innuendo - queen
Try White Queen from Hammersmith 1975. Early classic, sort of precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.
A different song, but very nice one is "You take my breath away". Try the studio version.
Noo savio, its not about a boy killing a man, it's about himself who killed her lover with a disease from himself..
It is a rock opera. But if you want a rock opera do "the trial" from pink Floyd's the wall. Or better yet, The Wall full album reaction. ;)

to my knowledge this was the first music video ever...
The Beatles “Rain”.
wikipedia says otherwise but ok@@sammycat1052
You should react to Davina Michelle's cover of the Pink song "What about us"

you do understand its about freddie coming out as gay?
Zartoshi boy leaves his wife and “comes out” as GAY! He can never return n to his family. Hr has killed his old self. He tears himself apart, goes crazy, finds a new aelf that can be free.
the first part was sung by Freddie Mercury himself.....with multiple recordings...they are just lip-syncing for the video
Hi light
@@rushdaan6234 Nice name u got there.......

The lyrics are not That Good... Scary tho...
