This woman seriously has the voice of an angel. Her solo stuff is great, but as crazy as it sounds, my favorite Paula Cole work can be found on Peter Gabriel's "Secret World Live".
The pride of Rockport Massachusetts. She could have lived anywhere, but she came home to teach at the same Berklee College of Music that she attended in the late 1980s
I was like maybe ten years old when I saw the theme to Dawson’s Creek. I never understood the show and thought it was boring at that age, but I’m watching it now and it’s like diving back into part of my childhood that I never knew. It’s interesting watching old things with new lenses.
I was around the same age and there were some episodes that I enjoyed even around that age, but it mainly just wasn't for me at that time, but I'm like you, I'm watching it right now and I can't get enough of it.
I grew up in a bar in the 90's. I was running the DJ booth in 97 at 11 years old. My mom had burned mixed CD's and I had to make sure the player was shuffled and didn't repeat. 90s music holds a special place in my heart. So do dive bars
It's beautiful to see so much positivity coming to Paula. She has an incredible gift. I couldn't be happier for her touching so many younger people. Even us in our 60s, love her talent. Blessings.
Seen Paula at the Hard Rock Hotel Vegas, at the Joint, with Matchbox 20. By luck got balcony tickets for the price of floor tickets because the floor sold out. Free drinks at a high top table all night jammin' to amazing performers!
I was in line to see this filming but it started later than was originally said and I had to leave to play a gig, I’m sad I missed it. I did get to see her at a small theater not long before this though, with Mark Brown on bass instead of Doug Wimbish. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, she left everything on that stage.
Thank you Beautiful you did a awwsome job on the mask singer .This song is so heart❤ felt .to see the come back at your age is such a pleasure and honor .much love to you and your family ❤ you sing beautiful!
So open up your morning light And say a little prayer for I You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the peace in every eye She had two babies, one was six months, one was three In the war of '44 Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging When she thought it was God calling her Oh, would her son grow to know his father? I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be sorry? He showed up all wet on the rainy front step Wearing shrapnel in his skin And the war he saw lives inside him still It's so hard to be gentle and warm The years pass by, and now, he has granddaughters I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be... Oh, so you look at me from across the room You're wearing your anguish again Believe me, I know the feeling It sucks you into the jaws of anger Oh, so breathe a little more deeply All we have is this very moment And I don't want to do what his father, and his father, and his father did I want to be here now So open up your morning light And say a little prayer for I You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the peace in every eye I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be... For flap's sake, people are commenting that this song was the intro track of Dawson's Creek, a teen drama show? This song is a haunting remembrance of a World War II combat veteran who was forever changed by the horrors he saw. She had two babies, one was six months, one was three In the war of '44 Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging When she thought it was God calling her Oh, would her son grow to know his father? He showed up all wet on the rainy front step Wearing shrapnel in his skin (side note, do Dawson's Creek fans even know what shrapnel is?) And the war he saw lives inside him still It's so hard to be gentle and warm Hurray Dawson's Creek fans, you really know what this song is about. (Roll eyes with visceral disdain)
At first I was going to write a comment saying that this is not Hard Rock Live because this is not the one I've seen before. In 1997 she appeared on the show opening for Jewel. Her hair was much shorter and she was wearing a purple half top. I think I saw somewhere that this is video is actually from HRL 2001 where she was sharing the bill with Meredith Brooks.
Hi! Not yet but I am searching for it! Every now and then I buy VHS lots when I see something interesting in the label. It was this case. Label stated that was some VH1 and Storytellers there so ... bingo! I remember recording in my own VHS at the time but unfortunately I lost all my tapes. Trying to catch up! Subscribe if you want and I will let you know If we are lucky in the future! By the way I see you have a lot of Paula in your channel. Will check it out! Thanks!

I'm trying to follow the logic of the song. If the guy is being forced to go to war, then he has no option to stay. Yet it sounds like she's forcing him to make a choice about going to war or staying home.
@@NicoAcrasia Of course, but that's a separate issue --- you're not responding to my point. She is angry and blaming him as though he has a choice, and she's mad because he decided to go to war. She's acting as though this means he doesn't care for her, and is being a bad father. "I don't want to do what his father and his father, and his father did --- I want to be here now". She's also saying HIS father was drafted into a previous war, and did the self-centered, irresponsible thing and went. If they are drafted and don't go to war, they are going to JAIL. It's very confused. And how do you WEAR "shrapnels" in your skin? She acts like THAT is a fashion choice. Maybe she just needed an editor.
@@CesarJoel94 I write, paint, and analyze film and painting and clothing design and music. I'm a former editor --- I LOVE metaphors. So explain to me the metaphors!

90s were so pure.
Music like this brings me back to a simpler time when a book and music are all I need.
Exactly what I feel
Can still be that way 🙏
Pure voice no autotune…
Paula Cole, Nathalie Imbruglia, Tina Arena, Meja.. 90"s music is legend.
No autotune days just pure voice

What a voice! And she's very easy on the eyes...
