    Since the site lacked a second quest Longplay, I decided to jump on it. The second quest can be played by either completing the game (a little easier said than done) or by entering "Zelda" as a file name. I do the latter (and tool assisted it. :3). I abuse the save trick (go to item menu and press Up and A on second controller...don't care if combination is wrong. I am too lazy to look up while typing this and GameFAQs exist for a reason.) and a glitch that involves getting full health upon restarting a game (visit a Fairy Fountain, go to item menu and activate save trick. Upon loading file, health should refill to full.) If Rupee counter is all of a sudden at 255, I abused save states and the money making game.
    Follow the adventure of Zelda as he goes around Hyrule to collect some golden triangles to fight a pig named Gannon.
    For most, if not all of the dungeons, I just bumrush it without getting Dungeon Map and/or Compass. I have a map to "plot" my path of least resistance (or a path for moar keys. Iunno).
    Notes:
    -Beginning: Some item collecting, mainly money. I get the Magical Shield to make Level 1 SLIGHTLY easier.
    -Level 1: Stalfo shoot swords. Dungeon is bumrushed. If it helps, the dungeon is the shape of an "E".
    -After Level 1: I nab the White Sword. Nothing else I can do.
    -Level 2: Gibdos and dat HP.
    -After Level 2: I haz recorder. I go all over Hyrule getting money from secret spots and getting the Blue Ring afterwards. I pick up 2 Heart Containers.
    -Level 3: Bumrushed. Could've cleared dungeon quickly but I wanted the Magical Boomerang. Dungeon is a "L".
    -Level 4: Another dungeon bumrushed. This time, Darknuts make me RAEG!! White Sword is apparently pathetic. Raft is cleverly hidden. Dungeon is a "D".
    -Level 5: It was this dungeon that made me stop playing the second quest for about a month. Goddamn Wizzrobes. The stack o' Pancakes may or may not make it harder (Magical Shield block Wizzrobe blasts, Like-likes eat shields. Perfect combination for raegquit.) I did clear it once, but I didn't have enough keys for Level 6. After that, I stopped playing again. Dungeon is a "Z".
    -After Level 6: I grab the Magical Sword. It should make my life easier.
    -Level 7: Can't stop here. This is Darknut country. Magical Sword makes it slightly easier. Blue Darknuts are spammed to make me raeg. Somehow, I didn't raeg on this dungeon, despite my pure hatred towards them.
    -Level 8: At least this dungeon is easy since it is filled with Goriyas (the bubbles are there to make it hard. Magic Rod is now useful for once.).
    -Level 9: I refuse to be a Wizzrobe's bitch. No bad run-ins with the Pancake monster. I wanted to clear this quickly. -

    • @Thelodis

      This is on a whole other level than the first quest. Although cryptic, there are clues to all the dungeon entrances, except the eight dungeon but you're supposed to to burn a bush that's in your way so it's kind of obvious. All the random secrets that leads to heart containers and the magic sword are optional even though it makes the game easier to beat if you find them. All the dungeons have some logical layout and you can beat them and find the items if you just look at the maps and visit every room. Now enter the second quest, and suddenly the bracelet is mandatory to find, you have to play the flute in random places, you have to walk through walls in the dungeons, even after you find the triforce and also bomb the least obvious places in the overworld. And that's coming from someone who grew up with the game and played it all his life.

    Holy Crap to the 2nd Quest! That thing is a beast and WAY more cryptic than the original. I can't even fathom how lost I would have been or the amount of time wasted on burning every tree or bombing every wall. I would have definitely never found at least 5 of the dungeons and missed every single Whistle Secret or Dungeon just based off of playing it by Quest 1 standards. My jaw is dropped.

      Play the game. Get a classic NES mini for like $30 from China. I feel a bit like that kid. It was a lot more work and required a lot of determination. My college girlfriend's little brother was playing this game the first time I saw it, and he was making a map of the overworld with what was in every grid and you could see how they were connected. I go to something now and then am like where the fuck was that and either can't remember or refind it. I think I made a map too. So, it took a long time, but that probably made it quicker. A truly ridiculous amount of work went into this. Crazy how much easier it is if you find an extra heart container and the next sword and have twice the damage. Anyway, try taking a break and playing it.

    The Zelda series to this day is still in my opinion the greatest video game series ever!!!! I was 11 years old when the first Zelda game came out and I loved how there was no way that you can beat the game in just a few hours or days. This was all before the internet so you could not have a guide to where you had to go. You had to think about every location on what to do. That is what I have always loved about this series is that you had to think about your every move. I remember it was Spring break on my 7th grade year and my goal was to beat this game. I stayed awake over three days and I finally beat it the first quest that is. I still have never Bea the second quest and maybe one day when I have time I will at least attempt to.

    what I love in this game is how you can hear the boss monster's roar a room or so before you actually see it. Really great stuff and as a small kid it gave me goosebumps and made me scared to venture on. Newer zeldas ain't nothing on the classic one, here Link is atleast treated as a hero and not as a little kid.

    Awesome video! I know a lot of people won’t believe me but I beat the first quest back in the 80s without a guide, map, or anything! We were poor so all of our games either came from pawn shops, second hand, or used. So none of them ever had guides or anything. The most frustrating part of my LOZ game was it didn’t save consistently like it was supposed to. I once got all the way to level 9 and it froze up. I was so mad! At any rate I finally beat it felt like the accomplishment of a lifetime!
    Also a true story: I had no idea the second quest even existed until the mid 90s(again I didn’t have guides or anything). But by that point I had already moved on to Super Nintendo, sega genesis, etc. When I learned the second quest existed I popped it into my NES and tried it. Boy oh boy was it a rude awakening. I think I got through maybe the 2nd dungeon and gave up lol. The “moment” had kind of passed. At any rate you’ve got me to thinking about going back and trying it again(as a 40 year old).
    At any rate I wonder if there’s anyone out there that has ever completed the 2nd quest without any type of guide? Seems impossible but who knows?
    Awesome channel! Gained a subscriber!

      In the original on the NES, you had to die before you could save. Also, at the end after you beat the 1st quest, it tells you to press start for the 2nd quest. If you pay attention in this play through, you will notice it's patched together from multiple attempts. After the saves, you can see differences in how many rupees or bombs he has each time. They seem to vary a lot.

    What people don’t realize is back in the day you’d figure things out by sharing secrets with your friends and other people who played the game. You’d draw maps, write down clues, and search everywhere. It would take you months to beat this game. It was amazing back then and still is today.

    Unbelievable! Dungeons 7-9 would have been extremely difficult to beat. The story of the 2nd quest is that they finished the game and (unbelievably by 1986 standards) had half the cartridge left, so they just made a second, more difficult version of the game! i loved watching this as I knew very few of the 2nd quest's secrets (or dungeon locations) and just enjoyed it all.

    There are bombs left when you kill a single enemy, then there are bombs left that appear once you've killed ALL the enemies in that room. When the bomb is left behind, you will here a five note jingle being played. This indicates that the bomb or whatever treasure will REMAIN there until you take it. With that said....it's best to leave the bomb there and only get it when you truly need it. If your bomb count has met capacity, then it's a waste picking it up. (after killing all enemies)

      Quest 2 has harder enemies to start with. The dungeon maps are scrambled in different places and there's only 5 donations. The maps for the dungeons are in the shape of the name Zelda Z E L D A, one letter shape for each dungeon. It has no completion for the second quest, you beat the dungeons and that's it, no end game credits it's just free play with no more goals and no climax, sad.

      Well to be fair, older games were smaller, WAY smaller like only a few kilobytes or megabytes at the most. Pretty small teams were working on the games and it was easy since it was all just pixels. Nowadays you have better graphics, models, and pretty much literally everything. So yes more people are needed

    Zelda II is different, but in a good way. I think it's a pretty awesome game, the only bad part is grinding for EXP, which I think takes way too long most of the time. I get sick of fighting those slime things because I can't fight the bigger enemies that give out more EXP because... well... they'll beat the crap out of me! But that's just me, it has nothing to do with whether the game is good or not, I'm just impatient sometimes xP.

    • @Celestial07
      @Celestial07 9 років тому +1

      +Crimson King Mario is Nintendo's third best franchise (and the most widely known). I honestly believe that Metroid is their 2nd best IP. With Zelda being on top, which I think most people would agree with. Mario is too simply, yet too effective and could probably end up being more addicting. It has accessibility that the others don't. People can actually beat Mario games, without having to resort to a guide.

    • @Celestial07
      @Celestial07 9 років тому

      Crimson King I think it's underrated. It didn't get many installments and there wasn't one for the N64. Yes, they may feel too mechanical at times and Mario is simplistic, yet very satisfying. Metroid is about the feeling of empowerment and it's not as interesting as Zelda, because you mostly search for Missiles and other items to increase their capacity or to acquire a new arm cannon (beam) upgrade or add-on (like in the Prime series, for example). I think Metroid is what it is, mainly for one reason.. The Prime Trilogy! Retro Studios did a great job on resurrecting Metroid and they made the transition so well from 2D to 3D. While with Mario, I was more impressed when '64' came out, since that game completely changed the entire formula and turned it into a totally non-linear experience, where you could choose which level you play and sub-quest to take on (for Stars).

    • @Celestial07
      @Celestial07 9 років тому

      Still, I prefer the complexity of Metroid. The downside is that it can be a little cryptic at times and Mario is always more accessible and your progress never comes to a halt. It's very fluent and you can see that the main focus always was and is 'Level Design'. In that department, it reigns supreme, but I don't think it's as captivating as Zelda's dungeons. Nothing beats that! And I mean NOTHING!
