I find that jerkbait rod preference tends to vary a good bit for each angler. The specs you use are pretty in line with mine but I have been liking my Medium better. It definitely has more tip than that rod you used - I feel like it gives me more control of the jerkbait and a better action with twitches. 🤷🏼♂️ then again I really have no idea what I’m doing 🤪

Those Lew’s TP1X rods are very nice. I have the medium light finesse spinning rod. I have been killing the Trout with it with everything from live bait to spoons and in-line spinners. I have to check out that jerkbait casting rod.

I’m from Ontario and spring fishing has been really tough. Been using the lipless crankbaits, finesse jigs, chatterbait, spinner baits and jerkbaits. Haven’t caught a single fish but I did see one bass following my chatterbait but didn’t commit. And yes I am fishing pretty slow due to the water still being pretty cold. I also only fish from the bank, or docks.
I picked up that exact same FX rod at an outdoor show 2 years ago and I really like it. Use it mostly as my jig rod :) ... thanks for the videos (especially for keeping in the "bloopers" - like when you hooked your sleeve and then the fish again - nice to see I'm not the only one with oopsies LOL). Here's to 100k subs!!!

Just a tip : instead of only doing two pops of the rodwith the jerk bait. Try switching it up like 1, 1,2 , 1, 123 you may get more bites caus it is not in a cadence. Great video!

yeeaaaaa you got an FX Rod finally after a year of recommending you one! I got the 6' 9" med x fast for topwater from winning a tournament and it is definitely my lightest rod/ most comfortable especially the win grip handles. Love them rods!
Ever had lipless crankbaits fly crooked? I'm pretty new to them but my casts were going 5 ft left or right of where I was aiming. Threw it in the bushes three times before finally switching to a square bill and then all of my problems went away. Almost zero wind. The thing just randomly veered left or right without explanation.
Any suggestions for specific jerkbaits for this beginner? I found one and so far I’ve caught one on it. I’m afraid I’ll lose it. I’d like to buy a few more.

What you have is a Gen 2 and they are fantastic. Debo has a Gen 3 and they are even better.

What flurocarbon would you recommend for a spinning reel? been meaning to get a good fluro spinning combo for jerkbaits.
I use 10 pound fluro but if you’re around some cover I would use12 pound fluro on my spinning reels
