Hey Dudes, here's our lower body routine for beginners. Keep in mind, this was Andrew's first time ever stepping into a gym so be easy on him. ;-) We wanted to show in these two vids that with the proper understanding of form & technique your initial fears will go away and your confidence will grow. I know right? I felt real bad for the kid, you could see him smiling but you know he kind of got offended. I would've gone for something like "It's starting to look better, but let's just focus on the form some more".
Daniel Lawrence I think he couldn´t get the form right was because he felt shy sticking his ass out, some people might understand how to do the form in a different way. just my opinion

Maybe because i'm also a CPT, but I didn't find this kid uninterested in the session. He's very shy and totally new to this department. What he knew about legs was totally out the window once cool buff dude gave him a solid smooth well programmed session, with proper commentary and reasoning behind the movements. It's all more clearer now to him. He's not moving tremendous weight, but that's not as important as perfecting the form and mechanics behind , as in the case with RDLs earlier in the footage. Any other trainer would have thrown in the towel and lost it. BD kept it cool and tolerable to his weakness. He saw and felt the connection with that, ergo no longer intimidated. That's very important. Kuddos to you, BD. You get a subscription from me. \m/
Just turned 17. My leg routine is High bar squats, leg press, lunges, leg extensions and hamstring curls. I designed this program myself and for me it works :)
It amazes me how some of these comments are aimed towards making fun of the kid and saying that he has bad form. I'm sure that some of you guys were the same way when you started working out... Everyone starts somewhere.
Totally can relate. When I was first introduced to the deadlifts I had the same issue, and I was 187cm and 63kg at that time. Just keep on practising kiddo!
Hi Bartosz. I appreciate your concern, and I agree with not sacrificing form to lift for ego. I was confident with his form and technique, and wanted Andrew to feel how real weight felt in squats to increase his own confidence. One of the key mistakes people make in squats is holding back because of thinking they cant do it or it leads to injury in the knees. One of the best lifts you can do for your body in my opinion is squats.

john doe He's a beginner, he's just trying to learn the exercise right now. Learning workouts that require a lot of your body to either work or engage (like squats or deadlifts) shouldn't be rushed, instead you should perfect a modified (easier) from, then standard form and finally modified (harder) form. you should have lowered the weight in the squat just so he can do correct for and hit 90 degrees because if he can learn good form from the start that can maximise gains for the future
At the start I couldn't do 90⁰ not beacause of the weight but beacause of my flexibility and now if I want to go deeper I need a lot of weight to push me down
Hi KillAngelaAndRobert. No you are not doing it wrong, and we do believe you get much more out of squats when going through the full ROM, but when first starting out its good to start slow and shallow squats will help build your confidence in the lift.
5:34 No, RDL isn't an isolation exercise. You mind-muscle contract your hams more, but it still works glutes and core. Also, one problem with this guy at this exercise is that he thinks he has to keep legs straight and perpendicular to the floor, and he only has to hinge at hips. Instead, you push hips back, bend SLIGHTLY knees and then hinge at hips.
A good one is to place a broom stick or something to act as a physical cue, so you can tell them to keep pushing their butt back until it hits the broomstick.
I'm loving watching these, I started lifting about 2 years ago, the only thing i noticed is that he could have gone lower on the squats. Still loving these videos though :)
