This is honestly such a sad moment because Light’s Dad is really doubting that maybe his son isn’t the loving just boy he thought he knew. His love is blinding him and he is starting to see but yet still doesn’t accept it and he is in denial. He doesn’t know if his son really is Kira that he would be able to actually do the right thing and arrest him.
He is police. Yet he doesn't ignore feelings and emotions like L does. Emotions are a humans moral compass. No need for cold and corrupt police. A father is still a father.

No one can even come close to Michael Lanning. He tries his best though.
Michael Lanning....is that a guy who is voice of english version of Soichiro Yagami because I remember him being mentioned there and there.

I feel like in his own right he kills it like the Japanese father role tradition is played well
