    Absolutely love it! Thanks for taking the time to record everything. This will come in very handy when I (hopefully) get my MGB sometime soon.

    👍🇬🇧 - Love the video, Steve. I was able to skim through quickly as I am very familiar with taking the MGB apart. I stopped occasionally to view several sections and like that you put in the Breaking News and commentary from Greta when you broke the cooler fitting. Also a really nice touch to this video is the addition of screenshots of exploded parts diagrams to further guide your audience. Congrats to the producer of this video- very nice job, indeed! On to #2B...

      Thanks Eugene......this is my first car restoration and I am learning on the fly. Same for the shooting and editing of the video and sound. The creative side of me lead to the Breaking News and Greta spots. I did get feedback from a friend of mine that people might not want to see content like this so I have dialed that type of content back.

      Thanks for the watching the episode(s) and taking the time to comment. I truly enjoy both working on the MGB as well as filming and editing the episodes. The only downside is that it unfortunately elongates the restoration process and last time I checked, I'm not getting any younger! At the end of the day, the people who own this car after me will know its history.

    Really enjoyed watching this, just finished my 68 MGC here in the UK and always happy to see another MG coming back to life 😊

      Andy.....both Maggie and I enjoyed your comment and thanks for taking the time to do so. They are such great cars. While I own a 2023 C8 Corvette with gobs of HP, nothing will replace the visceral sounds and smell of an MG. I am 4 months into the restoration process and trying to find a balance of cost vs reliability/appearance. I have always been of the mind if you are going to do a job, you should do it right so you create something that will last especially since this car will be given to my daughter and remain in the family. I have been getting prices from body/paint people for a "top side" restoration and they are about 3X of what I thought they would be. Its a hard path to navigate. Stay tuned for more episodes shortly.
      Cheers......Maggie & Steve

      Most definitely Peter! Are you joined a local MG car club since moving back? I joined the Boston Area MG Club a couple of years back, but just starting to get involved as they ram p up activities post covid. Great group of people and very helpful when it comes to keeping our cars running.

      Thanks for the feedback Craig! I kind of like doing wacky things like that , but was encouraged not to by a few of my race car teammates. They thought that viewers didn't want to be entertained as much as they wanted to see the actual work being done. So you would encourage me to do more short spots like that in the episodes?

    Interesting, about the oil cooler fitting. I guess it's a welded on adaptor and not a screwed on adaptor, and that's why yours broke? So you have to hold the bottom portion while turning the top hose nut, so as not to stress it. I forgot - haven't looked at mine in a while. No matter. Plenty of oil coolers available. Moving right along. Great job on initial disassembly.
    Working on a car that was a big part of your life, I find, is a little different than working on a new, old car from a stranger that you have no history with, whereby the history is a mystery.
    But when you know the car, you have much more patience and understanding that this job will get done, even though it may take some time, but it WILL get done. Not getting it done is not an option.

      Hey Anthony......thanks for tuning in to Maggie'sMakeover! You are exactly right about the oil cooler fitting so be sure to hold the bottom portion while you unbolt the top fitting. As you stated there are a number of different types available and they are not that expensive so live and learn. Thanks for the kudos on the disassembly. To me cars have a soul of their own and driving one creates that connection. They are also like time machines. I have so many fond memories of driving this car and did so at a wonderful time of my life. Restoring it and driving it again will bring all of those memories back. It is taking a lot longer than I thought, but as they say.....it's all about the journey and not the destination!

    Back in the day I used to pull an engine on one of these cars and install a clutch in about 5 hours. I worked on numerous MGB's. I converted many of these cars to Weber carburetor systems. I owned a 1968 MGB and I drove it for many years. Today I drive a 2023 Mazda MX-5 GT. (Miata) I'm 66 years old and I want to drive my car and not work on it daily anymore :)

      Bob.....thank you for taking the time to watch/subscribe and comment! That is a record setting pace on the engine pull and clutch install and way faster than mine. Did you own an MG or were you a mechanic? I have heard a lot about the benefits of moving to Weber carbs. The Mazda Miatas are such great cars especially the newer ones......great performance and reliability. So far I am enjoying the restoration process on the MG, but I do have days when I wonder if I will ever see the end of the process. I keep telling myself that its all about the journey and less about the destination.

    You already have a second video and I haven't even started on my rebuild. LOL. It looks like I have some catching up to do on your videos.
    Why did you remove the carbs, alternator, fan, and radiator before pulling the engine? Could you not just disconnect the wires, hoses and driveline then pull the engine?

    • @MaggiesMakeover72
      @MaggiesMakeover72  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment. I had removed a number of items off of the engine prior to pulling it for a couple of reasons. 1) I didnt have an engine stand to hold the motor while out of the car to do this and 2) I was unsure if those items would get in the way of the engine pull itself. The radiator has to come out to provide room if you are pulling the engine and transmission in one piece (its a lot longer than you think!). The starter needs to come off to provide room along the side rails. The rest probably could ahve stayed.

      @@MaggiesMakeover72 Thanks for your reply. I've owned several MGs but never pulled an engine from one. So I didn't know what would have to be removed to pull the engine. Your videos are already helping with my project and I haven't even got started. I will look at removing those things myself prior to pulling the engine.

    • @MaggiesMakeover72
      @MaggiesMakeover72  8 місяців тому

      Glad that they are helpful. There were probably a number of things that I could have left on the engine, but I needed to remove them prior to the engine being rebuilt so I took them off before I pulled the engine. Depending on what you are doing to the engine, not all of those components would need to be pulled.

    Interesting videos. What is a deterrent to continue watching is:
    Naming an inanimate object.
    It's a car, not a full time night woman.

      Most of them are American with a few being British Standard which seem to be in-between American and Metric.
