- At $16 the Casio W-218h 1A cannot be beat. Also many variations! *Forgive my commentary on the watch's resistance. The number on any watch is not literal. This watch is only splash proof.

I agree with you. This watch is all you need. I had a tough solar with atomic sync that I paid $120 for and sold it and bought this for $17.
I have both the G shock solar with daily time signal correction and this 218H.
The 218H has a much better display. Larger digits because the face does not have room for the solar panel.
It has a great alarm. The G Shock alarm is mostly inaudible.
So, yes, the 218H is a great inexpensive watch that offers all most people need.
Man really good points! Its hard to see "value" models like this through all of the g shock hype & millions of models.
9 times out of ten I wear this watch instead of my G Shock. It's a lot tougher than than people think and much easier to read than my G.
Totally agree, man. Ive the bull bar wire thing on mine. Great watch, and more legible than G shocks.
It’s got a really clear display.
I've been using mine everyday for work as a mechanic. It gets bumped and scratched and covered in all kinds of oil and grease everyday. It's still going strong after about 3 years.
Retro CASIO Easter eggs...
1) hold start/stop button in time mode, shows CASIo
2) Press all buttons at once in time mode to do LCD test
3) in time mode press... mode mode mode light light light ... to see the month
4) in alarm mode, hold the start/stop button to hear alarm sound

I wear the F108WH daily. Basically identical watch at the same price with maybe a literally identical display but imo looks a bit better. Highly recommend either of them over the big bulky G shocks people wear
I think the design of this watch is more interesting. Besides, The f108h doesn t have 50m WR. So, i'd prefer this one... But i ve to say that all casio watches are good quality products!
Yeah I agree. This watch is a bit more stylish (yet still a clean design) and top of the superior water resistance at around the same $.
I wish that I had of watched this video before getting my wife to buy me DW-5600BB-1er for Christmas , I can’t see a bloody thing on the negative screen, I will buy this watch instead and hope that she will not notice.
Your wife will notice so wear this and the one that she gave you and just let her know you like to interchange watches.

Buttons are better on this watch than 5600, easier to operate, i batter my OD green but keep a blue & grey for best… good review ✅
Try the SKMEI homage, the SKMEI 1496, looks just like the 218H but has much better backlight, bigger display digits than the 218, keeps great time and costs about half the casio - I have both the Casio and the SKMEI and both are great watches but the better backlight and larger digits make it a great beater watch you wont mind scratching etc. even less than the Casio
I’ve never owned and skmei may have to check it out. Yeah even with lower priced analogs you gotta be careful or they look atrocious. Thanks for the recommend!
My only gripe about this watch is that the field advanced and stop watch reset button are hard wired to the light (wastes battery when using chrono and setting time)…. Other than that I love everything about it...
Despite my agreement with the points and opinion in this video this is the main and only reason I would never buy a three-button Casio watch.
I completely agree. on watches like f-91w, it was normal to have three buttons, since the backlight was invisible. but here it works brightly, which probably increases power consumption
Does this have anything over the W86? I have a W86 and it seems to have the same features and display AND a fully backlit display. This just seems to be bulkier, which of course could be an advantage for the thicker wristed.
To me it seems a bit more Rugged, have more resin around the bezel and I like the design of the strap better on this one. I feel like the w86 strap would dig in more, but I could be wrong. It's really just personal preference I think. W86 is more svelt.
Can't find this colour in my country. But I will buy another colour and mod it perhaps. Thanks for the review.

I couldn't agree more about your gripes regarding gshock watches. I think they are overpriced chunky blocks of plastic that are absolutely hideous to look at on the wrist regardless of the shock ratings. I work in some of the harshest environments and due to the nature of my work can put a watch through a rigorous test regarding durability. These cheap little casio watches can survive just as much as the clunky gshocks that can cost a lot of money depending on the model you buy. The classic gshock square which retails between $45 and $50 is probably the most tolerable out of the lot and the best looking since it isn't so damn big. Gshocks have, in my mind, turned into the invicta of casio watches; overpriced and extremely gaudy. My wife calls watches like the mudmaster instant chick repellent.

By the way this watch also rugged and tough and can handle a lot, i saw a toucher test for basic casio f91 it can almost handle all shock tests

Bit I still love the square G shocks
They are nice and the DW-5600 is an excellent value. Past that I don't think most ppl use them close to their full functionality so this watch will serve just fine.

Nearly, very nearly, perfect to me. But... I don't like the 8 round dots (are they supposed to be childish fake rivets?) in the corners. And I still think Casio need to make a module with digits just a tiny bit bigger than these.

I am asking because another reviewer did not recommend swimming or showering with this watch.
This makes no sense to me because 50 m rating is what it is. I mean even ipx8 rated flashlights can withstand 2m water submersion for about 30 minutes!
I would. I know a lot of ppl say it should have 100m to be safe. I wouldn’t scuba dive with it and if someone isn’t careful closing the case after a battery change you could get water in it. Worse case you lose $15. Maybe start with a shower, than pool, then ocean/lake. I think it’ll hold up.
G-Shock's are just overkill, unless you work in a coal mine and are drilling all day there is absolutely no point to them.
Yeah for $50 or so, but now that they are getting into the hundreds is a bit much for an non coal miner/driller.

Casio offers very cool features but but they can add time travel and I'm still going to not buy the G Shock. You look at a watch a lot of times and it's very personal to you. It's not a sin to want one that looks good
Yeah the regular square ones are not that bad, but past that you lose a bit of class.
50m water resistance watch does NOT mean you submerge this 50 meters in the water. do a google search and inform yourself what watch water resistance means before posting a youtube video review of any watch

W-800H for similar price, Timer and 5alarms are easy to enable. I modified GW-B5600 screen to positive. Half of time I wear my w-800h.
Review is only 4 minutes long, spends most of the time griping about g shocks having useless features

Absolutely if you are a confident person! Having an AP won’t change who you are or what your capable of, neither will peoples opinions for that matter. That’s my two cents anyway. I also drive a Jetta 🤷🏽♂️
