Hey, Welcome to the OFD Watch Channel. My name is Aron Dunlap, and I’m nuts about watches. What’s OFD you ask? Well, one of my best friends coined this term. It stands for “Only F@#*ing Dunlap” (sorry kids!!) due to some of the ridiculous things I can come up with, including watch collecting.
I have loved watches for years, but in the last few years really got into the collecting and studying aspect. I mainly buy Seiko and Orient watches, but I love everything out there!! (Omega, Oris, Rolex, Squale, Timex, Casio, Steinhart….and on and on and on)

These Casios are so hard to resist picking up. They have such nostalgia for me personally. They just give you that “throw back” feeling. So dang cool! I’m glad these type of watches are still going strong, still cheap, and are fantastic collection starters. I am happy that the “mullet” did not follow them though. Yeah, that was just a bad deal!
I had a mullet for a couple summer's in the late 80's. Always got caught on creeper wheels when rolling under vehicles. Looked so awesome😉🤣 but so impractical!!
One feature on the stopwatch I didn't notice on your well-done review - it has a split time mode:
-1 start the stopwatch as usual by pressing the top left 'START/STOP' button
-2 press the bottom right 'LIGHT' button
-3 the readout stops, but the stopwatch is still measuring total elapsed time. You'll see the 'SPL' in a small font above the 1/100s second readout at the far right of the screen.
-4 press the 'LIGHT' button again and the stopwatch will resume showing the correct total elapsed time - 'SPL' will disappear.
Press 'LIGHT' again and you can continue this cycle of stopping and starting the readout. Useful when you have runners / vehicles / boats etc... crossing a set mid-point or a finish line and you need to halt their time momentarily while the stop watch continues on.
-5 to exit split time: press the 'LIGHT' button so that the stopwatch display starts running again, you are back in regular stopwatch mode. Press the top left button to stop/start as needed, the bottom right 'LIGHT' button is now the reset to '0' button once again.
Nice extra feature many digital stopwatches do not have - especially at the price of this W-218H!!
I decided to buy this W-218H rather the base model G-SHOCK DW-5600E for several reasons: bigger LCD display / thinner case that fits more easily under a shirt cuff / no need for 200M water resistance, 50M is good enough to go swimming.
I have a 200M water resistant dive watch for when I do SCUBA or snorkel - although something has gone very, very wrong if I find myself 200 meters down!!
Is it have Countdown timer?
... I agree! If I'm there, the last thing in my mind, (if it's still functioning...NOT)... will be to know what time it is...😂😂😂

In case any fellow Canadians are curious, here the F-91W is $24.99, and the W218H is $29.99. So far less than double the cost in the Great White North.
2 years later it's still about the same price. Got mine in green today. Looks darker than his in the video. It fits well on my big 8 inch wrist. Helpful video thanks!

Ive been running this watch for years. I used it trough my army service and a construction part time job. its survived EVERYTHING, and i mean everything when i say it.
I can recommend this! after 2 years, the wrist strap gave out, but casio sells OEM replacements for 10 bucks.

A new beater.
It's a really great watch for the $$ my man. It performs well above it price point. Plus, it's super simple and comfortable 👍😊 Reminds me of my first gshock back in the early to mid 80's

The best looking affordable Casio in the market so far.. you have to put one on your wrist to truly appreciate it , the LCD is sharp and clear readable from any angle and its' accuracy is really amazing, great watch..!

In the UK, they are a bit more pricy, but still are great. I keep my eye out for used very good examples that go for about half price.
It would look good with some bull bars on it, if the back has the right recesses.

Thanks Aron, great point, & tbh, you really can't go wrong with any one of around 45 cheap Casio's available for $25 or less. Yes!, I just counted, there are around 45 different Casio watches on Amazon, all styles, sizes, all for less than $25 bucks! So, getting a quality beater, that you know is reliable, fairly rugged, and will last is a no-brainer. So, thanks Aron for showing us all just one example of what's out there for cheap! ;-)

UK £15 , price currently at ARGOS which makes it a good buy. Good for the price and will probably last years. Not so easy to slip under sleeves of running, cycling, outdoor gear as I'd like.

This case design is actually based on an discontinued G shock DW-5300. . . i am from singapore , this watch is relatively new only out in 2018 , i purchase this and sold a few on my local sales platform called Carousell. this is the Beefed up version of F-91w which is more of vintage male size.
Oh hey! I'm about to buy one from Carousell 😂, looking for a watch for NS. The one I bought from Mustafa Centre was cheap, but the thin strap keeps breaking. This one looks more rugged.

I use these resin straps for the 18mm Vostok watches also
and even 18mm vintage 60/70s dress watches, it maybe sounds weird,
but I think these straps go well with vintage 🤗

I got one of these yesterday.
I was looking at the F-91W, but I have 8-inch wrists and bad eyes, so it was too small in a couple different ways. This watch is bigger, and just as good.

The plastic buckle will far outlast the band, so I can't see the logic of using a metal buckle instead. Great review. I love this model.
I just checked Amazon Australia site and these watches are $36.95AUD or around $26USD. It would be good if we could get them for the cheaper price here. As always great review
Still Australia gets them cheaper than we do here in New Zealand. I recently bought a W800H for $60. The somewhat iconic CA-53W for $55, and a AE-1000W for $50. Much dearer than the U.S, U.K or Aus. It's annoying, especially for those of us that don't do "online shopping". Still, they're all great watches and I'm happy regardless.
FYI: The bell icon is for the hourly chime, the repeating lines icon is for the alarm. Kind of backwards but that's the way it is.

I got one. It looks nice on your wrist. Mines looks small like a toy lol. My wrist is 8 inches.
I still like it, lasted me 3 years and counting. Bracelet hasn't broken. It's date function counts by the months (jan, feb, ect) so don't need to adjust the date window like in other watches. The backlight still works. Overall good just a bit small.
I really like the color and style. Even if it says it is for men only, I am thinking of buying it!

A big factor for me is the LED light, which is FAR better than the LED in the 91. It's now possible to get this watch for the same price or even slightly less than the 91.

Is the screen more like the F-91w too? As opposed to the screens on the G-Shocks, which are unreadable at certain angles.

Terrific review of a great budget Casio,Aron,but there is just too much throwing away of plastic l don’t see why theses watches are disposable any watch stall or jeweller can replace the plastic buckle if it breaks and changinging a battery on a Casio is not brain surgery too much disposable attitudes while the planet is drowning in plastic which never breaks down we’re stuck with it. -Robyn,Sydney australia
Everyone must have a better Walmart than me, when I say there are hardly any watches in the watch department let alone Casio.
I have to check back every time. Sometimes nothing, then they get something pretty decent!
A couple of Wal-marts in my area don't even have a jewelry department anymore. Everyone just gets a watch off Amazon or they use their phone to see what time it is.

I have 4 of these in different colors because I like to match my watches with my outfit. Love them all are accurate and the band is more comfortable then my gshocks which are way more expensive.

Hello, recently I just bought that watch at the AMAZON store in Mexico but less than a day after receiving it, the clock's glass already showed scratches, my doubt is this and I hope you can help me, is it normal that the glass of the glass is easily scratched clock? Yes. It's simple crystal that can scratch easily.

You can also use a headlight polishing paste that is sold at auto parts stores. You get more for your money there.
Is the display glass recessed?
No, and it does pick up scratches easily. But it's in a position where it's easy to polish.
