In 1983 I was a black teen headbanger living in low income projects in Jackson, Mississippi. I was listening to the 3rd day of the 83US festival on the radio. As I waited for the headliner Van Halen, my favorite band, to play later that day. Before the show they played some up-and-coming metal bands. One of the bands was Metallica and the song was Ride the Lightening. I recorded it on cassette. Since then I have bought and worn-out Metallica's 2nd through 5th album about eight to ten times; from cassettes to CDs to digital. Today I'm a 59 y/o riding around blasting Battery and all my favorite 80s metal bands.
100%. Top 5 hard rock album of all time. I think Back in Black and Van Halen 1 belong there as well. Suggestions for the channel: I'm the One by Van Halen. Hells Bells by AC/DC, Albatross by Corrosion of Conformity.
Not much makes me happier than seeing some AA brothers with metal shirts on reacting to Metal and loving it. The pride i feel is immense. Metal is the black sheep of the genre family that has been ignored by most for too long. Welcome to metaldom and enjoy... Subscribed.
Battery has a multifaceted meaning in this song. There is a layer of physical battery of just knocking people down. Then there is the energy stored in a battery to move you along and then there is their personal meaning to it as a club they used to play at quite often when they were starting out was on Battery street. And there were all these hair metal bands and then there was Metallica... And the fans of these worlds didn't really like each other. Craziness happened and it probably had an energy you could feel... In a bar setting where there is not enough security and the crowd is right there at arms length... It is thrash metal 101. One of the best thrash metal songs. And screaming "battery" in their concerts has never been so beautiful...
I was a senior in high school when this came out. Had already seen Metallica live on the Ride the Lightning Tour. Been with them from the beginning being a Bay Area kid. Master Of Puppets cassette didn't come out of the deck of my '72 Nova until after I graduated. That album slams from start to finish.
The song's theme is based on the 1980s San Francisco thrash scene. Metallica played at the Old Waldorf club, which was located at 444 Battery Street in downtown San Francisco.
I think I saw that same tour, and it completely changed my life. I lived in rural Nevada and had never seen a concert but was a total metalhead. Reno in 1989 was my first show. Hail metal.
I was living in Soviet Union when this album came up, my friend came back from a military service from Afghanistan , he brought a ball of afghan hash with him, we smoked and he put on a tape to play it with this Metallica album on it through the speakers and oh man… I was blown away. Great memories!
The Beyond Magnetic EP that had 4 unreleased songs from Death Magnetic are some hidden gems. I have a particularly soft spot for Hate Train. Some nice raw Metallica. 👍
Saw these guys on this tour and they opened with this. The entire arena screamed "YEAH!!!" when the loudness hit. They were so tight and precise. It was an amazing performance. I don't remember the year but it was in the early 80s
This is the opening track to the album; they start it with a nice, pretty acoustic part than smash your face for the rest of the song. Fight Fire with Fire, the opening track to the Ride the Lightning album does the same thing. If you play Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets from start to finish back to back, you will not find a bad song. Actually, you won't even find any decent songs. It's 16 masterpieces in a row!
Love reactions like these. Almost like hearing it for the 1st time with prospectives from new listeners. Metallica music just f*cks with your emotions.
I've become a huge fan of metallica !....awesome to see you guys get excited about them !.....one of my favorites that get my pulse going is their song " here comes revenge " ide love to watch you guys react !....God bless !
The S & M1 version with the San Francisco Symphony orchestra, absolutely brilliant…. And then someone took that version and the Seattle 89 version and mashed em together and it’s twice as great.
One of the better new reaction channels out there! Would love to see you guys do something exodus like "the beatings will continue" of "war is my Sheppard" or something like that
Lashing out the action, returning the reaction Weak are ripped and torn away Hypnotizing power, crushing all that cower Battery is here to stay Smashing through the boundaries Lunacy has found me Cannot stop the battery Pounding out aggression Turns into obsession Cannot kill the battery Cannot kill the family Battery is found in me Battery Battery
1986 They open up for OZZY. and they got booed. Nobody never heard of them . Then i heard this record at a party and this is the opening track... Game Changer picked up the guitar and been ROCKIN ever since 🤘
My first time hearing this was 11 years old in the mid 90's and had never heard of thrash metal. I had only heard the Black album and Load, their two newest albums at the time. Bought this because the album cover looked cool, and also I hadn't yet heard a single song of their older stuff. Popped the cassette in, and this song completely blew me the fuck away...to say the least. I had no idea music this aggressive existed, and the whole album was a complete revelation for me. I'll never forget it.
In case you didn’t know. I believe this song is about Battery street where they played when they first started. Hell of a party I guess back then. Family remark are the bands

Run through Seattle 89 live. A Metallica concert back then was unlike no other. The songs were even better live
‘Harvester of Sorrow’ is an absolute gem, and ‘the day that never comes’ , gotta do “blackened” aswell just absolute heat
The song's theme is based on the 1980s San Francisco thrash scene. Metallica played at the Old Waldorf club, which was located at 444 Battery Street in downtown San Francisco.
Best Album in metal ever….and one of the best albums ever in all Music 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Four Horsemen is some great early Galloping Metallica!🧐😉🫡
I was 15 when this album came out & a lot of young people don’t know that Metallica was the biggest underground band ever 🖤🤘🏻
After all these yrs, this is still the greatest metal album ever.
"The Thing that Should Not Be!!!" Heavy AF
The most evil sounding song of theirs.
@@yearginclarkeleper messiah imo
my favorite metallica song
Another beautiful reaction to another Metallica CLASSIC
I saw Metallica back in 89 on the Justice tour , one of the best concerts I've seen . They played for almost 4 hours 🤘🤘
I think I saw that same tour, and it completely changed my life. I lived in rural Nevada and had never seen a concert but was a total metalhead. Reno in 1989 was my first show.
Hail metal.

It is so fun watching you guys experience this. Almost brings me back to the 80's as a young teen trying to figure shit out in life.
You guys will love this song!!! Starts out powerful and doesn't let up.

You guys are cool as fuck.
Sanitarium (ballad) and Dyers Eve (fastest song they play)
Faster than Damage inc? I don't think so
Dyers Eve is mandatory!

@@gary2kr1dyers eve is 195 bpm and damage inc is around 180
@@gary2kr1also my apocalypse is actually their fastest song

When I saw Metallica live in 2011 they played this song and they had so many fireworks going off it was crazy
Blackend and Escape are really good songs
They were gods back then. No one has made a better thrash track than this since. This s*** stays with you too. You'll never forget it.
The galloping is James, who sings and plays guitar. He's so good that you forget lars is playing drums 😹😹😹

This took me back... in 9th grade in 1986 when my best friend busted this shit on me in the parking lot before school. I was fucking FLOORED.
I was there live when they released this album. Amazing gig!!

This song always gets me hype! The buildup is insane!!
Opening track on Master of Puppets, this was my first Metallica song.

Whiplash live Seattle 1989. Scary 😱🤘🤘
Great reaction.
This entire album is fire.
This one was on my pregame football playlist back in high school. I was ready to tackle a dinosaur and run through a brick wall after listening.
In case you didn’t know. I believe this song is about Battery street where they played when they first started. Hell of a party I guess back then. Family remark are the bands
a great song for lifting
Seen this concert with Ozzy in battle Creek Michigan..rock on
its about the fans!!!
Phenomenal song. Damn.
The opener on Ride the Lightning (fight fire with fire) is similar. Starts of all pretty and melodic, then proceeds to melt your face off.
You HAVE to do the 89 Seattle live version!!!
Would love you guys to check more live Metallica out, both old and recent
Show respect.
This was my pre-game song when playing linebacker
You guys are the shit!! Love you loving this music I grew up with!
from this great album PLEASE !!! the Thing that sould not be !!!!!!!!!!
I saw Metallica live in 1984 in Amsterdam
Gotta watch the live version, Seattle '89
You should have far more subs...well done.
Awesome t-shirtz guys 🤘
Could you react to "Jethro Tull" ...something like Locomotive Breath, Thik as a brick or Bouree???
If you love this you'll lose your mind at Damage Inc.
Disposable Heroes might well be my favourite from the album tho tbf.
Just do the whole album “Master” in order! Enough said!
Plsss let's start watching the live shows of Metallica!!!!!!!!
80s football highlight reals. Metallica make you hit em like the water boy!
Yall GOTTA do Blackened it’s SOOO good
This song is about as
“Gangsta” as it gets!😎
Cannot stop the bat-ter-ry!
"I need more"... Next track: "Hold my beer"
You guys would really dig the S&M version. R/E would get hype!
"Creeping death" live from Metallica
