Haven’t even watched the video yet but I know my million bucks would be spent on the Raptor. Nothing wrong with the Wildtrak, Raptor is just a beast on its own.
For Wildtrak buyers a better comparison would be the 2.0bi turbo diesel vs the v6 diesel. For Xlt buyer would be the 2.0 single turbo diesel vs 20bi turbo diesel. The Raptor is in a league of it own.
American here I just wanted we say we dont get fry holders in out rigs. You have something special. If we want fries we are forced to dump them onto the center console and then eat them like a piggy. Id also add it would be a hard sell to get your average murcan out of their full size, but this review makes me really want a Ranger.
I got a raptor, a rs3 a tig R and a type r, ive put 7k on the raptors clock since getting it in feb. My rs3 only has 19k since 2018. Its a legendary vehicle! Its kak heavy on fuel lol, but amazing. I keep wanting to use it
ZA Law pertaining to trailers/towing: you cannot tow more than 750kg unbraked, or when using with run-in brakes, exceed the TARRA of the vehicle. Electrically assisted trailers may not exceed the GVM of the tow vehicle. Thus these manufacture tow ratings means very little in ZA - please provide more accurate information to the buying public when mentioning these figures. Awesome Review Ciro and team. I daily a X3 M40i and for some reason on weekends I always grab the keys of the Raptor. It's really a special vehicle and then you look past the R4/km petrol costs 😅
@@wmtarr886they're largely a status symbol now. The only "farm ready" utes that exist are the 76 series LandCruiser and the Mahindra Pikup, in my opinion. And, the LandCruiser is the ultimate status symbol for the "manly man", at least here in Australia.
Fantastic review Ciro. I also love my Ford Ranger, and would certainly be interested in either the Raptor or Wildtrack. My only hestitation is the appalling service we get from the Ford agents here in Toti, KZN. Unfortunately they are the worst. That almost drives me to another brand. But I won't move, because the Rangers are so fantastic.
i'm not selling anything but if you are prepared to pay for Ford then that is your choice. My understanding is Toyota is sub-saharan international if you want to play outside your tiny playground of KZN

I honestly do not like the sound of the raptor, sounds offish for me. Like a fake sound of the F150 raptor. The Wildtrack seems like a solid overall unit. Great video as always. I like before I watch and I'm never disappointed😁.

I guess it all comes down to what you're purchasing the bakkie for. Is it for the experience of having one, its functionality or its sheer beauty that will guide whether a 600K is a justifiable figure or not. On another, constantly ignored view, it's people's choices ladies and gentlemen, let anyone do what they want with their life, as long as it ain't hurting you or the environment (sigh) in the process.
I have one on order, the wait time in aus (at the time i ordered) is 13 months, give or take. Thats a long time to wait for a car, but im still as excited as i was the day i ordered it, 6 months ago *edit* aus gets a soft tailgate open
The info Stateside is pretty sketchy, the best estimate I've seen is 11 months. I'm okay with that lol. Can't wait for the U.S. order banks to open on the 26th this month.

What no one tells you about the Raptor is that those shocks and suspension ( as brilliant as they are) will not last much past 50k km’s and then they have to be replaced at a price that will make you wish you never bought it. Also not so good at towing heavy loads due to suspension sag. Other than that a brilliant vehicle
Never seen a brilliant Ford, especially as they age. They can’t learn lessons from the Ecoboost failures but suspect they are in denial. When last did u see the Focus ST, gone, & we must believe in overstressed turbo engines. Turbo is lousy engineering no innovative engineer will obsess with
I don't know why Ford has made the changes to the front of the cars to make them look quite similar. I have a wildtrak - just because I was not allowed to order a raptor (Ford was releasing a new generation and the dealers in Australia didn't have any stock of raptor). But anyone was able to tell which one was a raptor, a wildtrak or a normal XLT just by the looks.....Now the the new models looks pretty much the same - or no obvious differences by a first glance. Hope they can get it back.
Great step up from Ford. As awesome as that V6 petrol sounds (memories of Cortina V6 Kent) I would still opt for the V6 Diesel. Reason being, where in SA do we have dedicated offroad race tracks for the public to use? And also, because of the sport suspension (not tough leaf springs), I've seen a new Raptor who's payload area was nearly dropped onto the rear wheels, because it can't carry much weight or tow heavy loads.
Hopefully Ford bothered to make the 10-speed transmission reliable coz as we speak in the US they have a class action law suit against them because of this gearbox in this model vehicle.
The Gen1 Raptor has active noise cancellation and isolated windshield and windows as well as heated windshield, some ppl said thatbthe Gen2 doesn't have either of these. Can anyone confirm those? Thnx for amazing footage and detailed review.
There is in no way toyota is superior to the current ranger ..... in any measure... Power, Toyota looses Looks, Toyota looses Quality, Toyota looses Price, Toyota looses Warranty, Toyota looses.. Toyota is good and has always been great, but every kings day comes to an end and Toyotas days are done...
I'm okay with my GWM P- series It's times less the price but I can guarantee you I did anybody in terms of tech and safety however less power but I'm ok you can buy two buc-ee's
We in South Africa need Ford's phev bakkie. With our bleedy loadshedding we need to be able to turn our phevs into generators to run our homes or shops .
Very nice raptor. I honestly doubt it but some weirdos are saying new hilux is coming 3.5 turbocharged so ill probably wait in vain and see. Presently i got a T7 with a V8 in it.

The Raptor and Wildtrack both look amazing. The tech also looks very impressive but the problem is, it's still a Ford and once you get past 150k on the clock you will know it. I owed the previous generation Ranger and that was my experience. I now own a Hilux (bullet proof reliability) and that what's worth spending the money on.
There is one bakkie "better" than the Raptor but we just don't get it in South Africa and it's the RAM TRX (something like that). Otherwise this would be my go-to bakkie too if I had a mil.
Ordered mine.... but de-tuned for the UK market 😕 Chances they forget to de-tune in the factory!? Or maybe it's detuned at the dealership? Love the jump scene!
@@Corkrebel78 yeah 60k euro. i got the wildtrak v6 diesel 184kw version the other day and it was 80k aud so 50k euro. I believe it’s expensive for you because of the export from Thailand that way while we’re closer to Thailand so shipping is cheaper

@@derickellisster I understand they're different tools but that's not what he said. He specifically said, there isn't another bakkie in the market with a V6 other than the Amarok. Land Cruiser is still a bakkie regardless, the same way someone buys a Wildtrak and cages it in a city car life as a lifestyle accessory. The only difference is preference. It may be more function over form but is one nonetheless.
Can jump but landing is the problem, the Raptor suspension senses the jump and prepare (firms) itself for the landing. This is why if you lift a Raptor and not have its firmware updated then the car will constantly think it is on a jump.

I think the new VW Amarok would rival the Ranger in the “Bakkie feeling like SUV” space, otherwise Ford has shaken the Hilux as a leader in this segment..
@@lfk53 that’s true but from the multiple reviews I’ve seen and the test drives I’ve done the VW feels slightly more SUV like than the Ranger, even though Ford has made changes from previous Ranger the interior in the Amarok feels more like a VW than a Ford.
The Ranger Raptor is simply in a league of its own , given a million plus rand I’d buy it without hesitation.

Put 87,000km on my previous generation Ranger Raptor. The suspension was as compliant and good after 4 years and 87,000km as the day I bought it.

Life is too short for regrets. I'd say go for it guys. Dealerships mark-ups are crazy though. R 1.4 million 🤦🤦♂️

Yes. Toyota is bulletproof...... apart from the endless DPF issues, engine dusting etc

Ordered mine.... but de-tuned for the UK market 😕 Chances they forget to de-tune in the factory!? Or maybe it's detuned at the dealership? Love the jump scene!

@@Corkrebel78 yeah 60k euro. i got the wildtrak v6 diesel 184kw version the other day and it was 80k aud so 50k euro. I believe it’s expensive for you because of the export from Thailand that way while we’re closer to Thailand so shipping is cheaper

Land Cruiser is still a bakkie regardless, the same way someone buys a Wildtrak and cages it in a city car life as a lifestyle accessory. The only difference is preference. It may be more function over form but is one nonetheless.

Can jump but landing is the problem, the Raptor suspension senses the jump and prepare (firms) itself for the landing.
This is why if you lift a Raptor and not have its firmware updated then the car will constantly think it is on a jump.

I think the new VW Amarok would rival the Ranger in the “Bakkie feeling like SUV” space, otherwise Ford has shaken the Hilux as a leader in this segment..
The new Amarok is a Ford. Only the badge is VW. VW is done in the bakkie segment.
@@lfk53 that’s true but from the multiple reviews I’ve seen and the test drives I’ve done the VW feels slightly more SUV like than the Ranger, even though Ford has made changes from previous Ranger the interior in the Amarok feels more like a VW than a Ford.
