Wow, takes me back. I loved all those old game shows. Match Game, Dating Game, Newlywed Game. I don't care if I was outside playing, I ran in to watch them.
+waldo1967 I would guess most of them. They all seem in their 20s - early 30s which would mean they would be in their 60s - early 70s now. Life expantancy is a lot higher than it used to be.
Great episode. Is it my imaginaton, or is that the earring lying right in the middle of the stage? (look at gene's feet at 15:38 & 19:44, at Michael's feet at 19:47)
One of the more topical Match Games - politics (Watergate), pop culture (Julia Child, the Galloping Gormet), and economics/society (streaking, the energy crisis and other shortages). My favorite kind from '74. Only Euell Gibbons is left out!
What was wrong with the Prez Arthur answer? Other than King the only other thing I came up with was Sir. Other than that, a great "topical" episode!! As Waldo1967 wondered, I wonder what kind of lives the constants lived after their 15 minutes of fame. It would be a really good service of GSN to maybe have "reunion" episodes with those still with us or their decendents
yes, she is such a long winded ninny and I don't find her especially funny. Saw her on The Odd Couple once - was married to jack klugman - she's not an especially good actress either. How did she make it.
You'll find she is a major topic of discussion. She wastes a lot of time talking, she's deaf as a post and she's the only one who finds her comments funny. Besides being drunk on the show, her match rate is pretty low. There are a couple of trolls that will come out to attack any comment about her. That's their problem.
Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Richard) KING (if asked after Richard) MAC Part 2: BIRTHDAY Barrett-Herbs, round 1, question A: "It *was* President Arthur, of course - and the shameless fellow trying to discomfit him was ROSCOE CONKLING." (Bzzt!) [Aside: can you imagine how embarrassed Charles must have felt, when he went home that night and looked up the list of presidents again?] Question B: "After the Galloping Gourmet broke his leg, Julia thought that SHOOTING him was the only humane course." (Bzzt!) Round 2, question A: "Okay, here's my thinking: 'Your money or your life' is a threat, right? Give me your money, or I'll take your life? But, with this lead shortage, they can't afford bullets - so all they can threaten to take is your PEACE OF MIND." (Bzzt!) Question B: "I'm sorry, I couldn't think of the right kind of grease to use, so I just said A PUMP." (Bzzt!)
"My secretary must of erased it"! One of the best jokes in the show's history!

One of the reasons I LOVE this show is when Gene gets wacky and practically runs the show more than the CBS crew!
I thought that was a perfectly good answer. President Chester A. Arthur. Not a whole a lot of choices.
1974 seems to have been the ultimate year for crazy 70's fashions.
Whenever I watch these old game shows, I wonder how many of the contestants are still alive.

Brett's use of more than one card to write on always made me gag! What a waste of paper!
President Arthur. And his Airport.... pilots can't find it.
I love Charles: "And he voted for him".
The Supreme Court ;D
Richard was sure a lot more playful and interactive with the others in the beginning.

Gene looks too thin! I love Gene, he has a great voice and was the greatest game show host ever!
Why was the answer "President Arthur" so funny?
There was a President Arthur....Chester A. Arthur
Why is Charles wearing Brett's glasses? ;-)
Brett's hair looks AMAZING in this episode. Love seventies fashion. :p
Dawson's British? How can you tell? Don't let your sarcasm meter break.
One of the best episodes...
Very good. Most people forget about him.
But there was actually a President Chester Arthur. Not very well known, but hey.
isn't one of the shows taken after the lunch?
Eliza Christina yes - and you can always tell which episodes were cuz they were looser
Basting is not cooking, ffs.
what does allen's card say at the beginning?
Mary Ann Mobley and it's pointing at Brett...as if
That one question I would have said Haldeman & Ehrlichman Streaking across The White House Lawn
Bea Arthur?
Dorothy, on the golden girls
Buzzr has aired Match Game 74 with episodes 121-219 so far.
Brett drives me out of my freaking mind. Listening to her cackle about everything and her laugh... oh my gosh! does she bother anyone else too?

They should've thrown out the question "Your money or your (blank)" due to audience interference.
There is no such thing.

Brett looked fabulous with her hair styled like that. /random
Chester A. Arthur, US President 1881-1885.
I love Match Game.
by this time Allen was doing PASSWORD ALL-STARS.
and when to use the word 'spelling'
I'm surprised they didn't throw out the "Your money or your _______" question after someone in the audience shouted out "gas."
chester a arthur. Nice political answer on Match Game and a great history response.
Ummm their was a President arthur. he was the 21st president. Chester A. Arthur. GOOGLE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Dad Mike Herbs
Bob looks like a very happy guy.
As in why was she not as high up. I know who she is...
A lot of the people on this show are dead.
Fannie's still around, Joyce I don't know, the others playing MG in the sky.
Michael Rodriguez Joyce is still with us.
smittykins
smittykins As is Fannie Flagg. But Allen Ludden, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson and Gene Rayburn have assumed room temperature.
Ep 1...? with a RETURNING champ?
Not so stupid. He was also our 20th vice president. Remember: history doesn't matter if it happened before we were born, right?
Watching new shawn mendes
