If you are asking why we didn't sneak down the left shoreline (as we did with both Lava and Hance) . . . the answer is that we wanted to run the most aesthetic lines we could--without accepting an obvious invitation for Type III fun. The reason Hermit gets my vote for the best rapid in the Grand Canyon is that it combines some of the biggest waves with some of the most (relatively) benign consequences. I can't think of any other place where it makes more sense to throw long.
these canoes doesn't look very stable. looks like it's floating above of the water like inflatable kayaks. I have Grabner Hype inflatable whitewater kayak, it's been thrown around massively in Lee Valley Whitewater Centre UK. solid kayaks just go through with an ease. Good skill to stay up, thanks for sharing
BRAVO!
There’s nothing like coming around that corner and seeing Hermit waves!
That was sick. Rafts, good for carrying gear. Good job getting to your swimmer.
Thanks! . . . this was my "Immaculate Reception" of the trip😅
awesome
Glad you stayed left at the top of the rapids, looks like you know what your doing
Sick
Epic! Nice work!
Thanks! I was *really* motivated to get this one--Granite is the previous rapid, and I needed a comeback!😅
