I have the same mentality. Thats why I like to fish by myself and have so many lures and so little tyme. I love plastics. I love to clam shot a no.2(large) on 15-20lb YoZure line with 10"worms or 8"
lizards. 50lb braid is recommended has this rig draws temid fish to let Down their guard.☝️Tight lines and ENJOY your dope ride.

Around November last year my son and another kid were fishing an event on Guntersville out of our boat. They were having a let's say a slow day of fishing. They were throwing drop shot and wacky rig setups. I told them to try a worm. To no avail. I picked a rod. Put on a 7in ribbon tail worm. Second cast pulled in a nice sized large mouth. Needless to say that motivated theme to start throwing more than drop shot and and wacky rigs. I did throw the fish back in the lake. I do play fair! When I doubt throw a worm. You have nothing to lose.

I know you have punched the tokyo rig already, but I got to tell you...Using a 10 inch culprit curly tail worm, I came close to wrecking my PB on it. I caught on average of 3 fish an hour punching that rig. And not a dink among them. This spring I'll use a red liplrdd from sixth sense my first throw, but I will switch to the Tokyo rig with either a whacky rig culprit or a texas rig. I am a true believer in this rig, and I don't drop shot near as often, although in gunky bottoms, the drop shot is best.

If your talking soft plastics man you gotta try and include weightless top water stuff, if I may suggest something that not a lot of anglers use is a craw style bait like the Rage Tail craw or the lobster around vegetation or on lay downs, especially where you have deeper water that submerges the ends of the lay down but not too deep, 5-8 feet seems to be prime targets.

Took 9 rods to my last kayak tourney, which is not easy on a kayak. Nothing really worked other than a weightless fluke on spinning rod. I used that rod most the day. Didnt need frog rod, crancking rod, dropshot, jig rod, underspin, punching rod, spinnerbait/Chatterbait rod, all of them, Coulda left them at home. And i took every soft plastic i own; a tackle bag about 30lbs, and i had tackle trays in my crate, one with topwaters, one with chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, one big deep tray of all different cranks. Thousands of dollars in gear and tackle--Didnt need any of it. Just like you were saying old timers with one worm rod smash them.

Believe it or not that neko rig makes a great bait for targeting suspended bass that are 4-5 feet off bottom. Throw it out and then pop it up 4-5 feet off bottom and shake it in place for just a second, then let it fall- they bite on the fall usually. Or- just chunk it out, count down until you feel like it's at their level or just barley above them- now small little jerk, jerk, jerk- and then let it fall back down to their level- repeat. Spots tear it up.

The gray words and especially the F-bomb do not make your videos better, they stand alone without these words. Not my place to judge you just my opinion. I hit a nerve with three other video fisherman in our area about their language and handling of the fish. You can punch with the tokyo rig, i have several times. The only thing you gotta do....put a bigger weight on, or put back to back weights on it. Also where you bend the metal to hold the weight on, just bend it a little, if you bend it in a u or a little loop like most people do, it will catch grass and vegetation.

My birthday is 8/4, and this vid was a great present, thank you! The best thing about your vids, and especially this one, is that you give us permission to use outside-the-box rigs, which I really like to do. Watching this gave me the idea of using a floating or semi-floating bait on a Carolina rig... I'm trying some Elaztechs on it next time I go out.
One tip about the Tokyo rig... if you bend the bottom of the wire into a closed loop instead of a hook shape to hold your weight on, it'll be a lot more weedless.

Haha just put a 10” ribbontail worm video out on my IG this morning as well. They still get it done. Might tie on a Carolina rig today (not a fan as well but those “deep” water bass still seem to like them.

Hard to get away from the ole 1/4oz weight and a Texas rig black worm. Been smashing with the Zoom Ultravibe Speed worm.
