I live in Derbyshire You would get it taken off you on the first ride out, scooter riders are treated like real criminals 😱 My son gave me a Xiaomi 365 Pro, I went out on it once and got chased 😰
I'd rather see fines for speeding/driving on certain roads along with some sort of identifier for cameras so police know who's been driving dangerously. However I'm against having to insure, you don't have to insure for cycling and with climate change we need to be moving over to lower emissions transport fast. If any kind of vehicle should be illegal on the road it's these awful mpg SUVs.
Here's the thing, some of these scooters are actually legal to use on the roads because they are registered as moped but you can't actually use them on the road because you can't get insurance, where you used to be able to get insurance you no longer can. I have a fully registered Escooter that is pretty much the same size as those shown, but no insurance company in the UK will insure it. I own Motorcycles, cars, I drive large vehicles, but my small Escooter and legally I am not allowed to ride it because no insurance company will insure my registered Escooter. I am not alone with this problem. Many cyclists suffer the problem of bad roads, and many have been killed. I used my Escooter for over 4 years legally until now, no insurance company will provide me with insurance, so I ride my big motorcycle and drive my car everywhere. And if we are so concerned about road deaths why are cars still on the road, more people are killed or injured by them or in them than any other vehicle on the road even with all the tech.
@ferkemall Not true I have an electric scooter that has a registration plate but there are no insurance companies in the uk that will insure it but have no trouble insuring me with a super bike at modest price so 20 mph on an electric scooter is to dangerous but not a super car or bike its mad
@ferkemall yes it has plates yes registered with dvla yes it used be able to insure but there was only one company in the whole of the uk that would insure them they have since stopped so now there are no insurance companies who will insure them. I have spoken to dvla about the problem they gave me a list of insurance companies they thought would but after calling them and going through the process they say they are not allowed to so I have a fully registered electric scooter that no insurance companies in the uk will insure and dvla has no idea how to solve the issue nor does any of the insurance companies as they can't simply add it to the system. So I ride with no insurance like everyone else whereas I used to add it to my motorcycle insurance.
@ferkemall non of them can offer insurance it turns out there are only a few insurance companies in the uk all those we deal with are just brokers who have to then deal with the actual company so the brokers are keen but the actual insurer are the problem. The odd thing is if I replace the motor for something that does around 10 mph on the road it is listed but I would not be allowed to use cycle lanes or paths or most bus lane, I would have to stay with the main traffic with a max output of around 10 mph also I could ride down any a road but it would be at around 10 mph it makes no sense, but that's how it is. Having the registration on means I would have to limit the scooter 10 and ride with traffic ignoring the law I can ride to around 20 mph and use cycle paths or the road which ever is best at the time. Oh also you must wear a motorcycle helmet and have a motorcycle license to ride at 10 mph it's really stupid
So you want to encourage less cars on the road but make electronic scooters illegal, UK miles behind! I'm just back from Sweden and they are using them on purpose built lanes for bicycles, how many people die each year on the roads from over powered cars, sort it out!
Thanks for hitting home the point that they're difficult to ride. They're not. My 66 year old father had a ride on my DIY electric mountain board and was in full control the whole time. (Having never even had a skateboard in his youth.) It has an electronic brake and a disc brake for added safety. I wouldn't dream of getting on, say a unicycle in traffic without plenty practice. Just be sensible and ride within your skill level.
Not exactly true, I have a registered Escooter with a number plate the works all ready to go on the road in fact used it for years, now suddenly no insurance company in the UK will touch it, they are happy to insure my gasoline motorcycle and cars but not my fully registered road legal Escooter any more.
flitsies That's a strange situation. You can buy proper (crazy fast) electric motorbikes..yet the insurance companies won't touch these even when road legal!? Probably tells you all you need to know about how dangerous they are.
@@James-oo1yq Actually it doesn't because up until this year they used to insure them, also you can still insure a 500 watts version of my exact same scooter, but once you go for something that enables you to stay up with the traffic they won't insure it. The odd thing is the 500 watts version will go around 10 mph and is not allowed in many bus lanes or cycle lanes so has to mingle with the traffic the 1000 watts version can stay up with traffic but still has to obey all the laws of a moped. In other words they are identical machines except one is 500 watts the other 1000watts there is no logic to the situation, I have had this all out with insurance companies they don't understand it either. If I swap out the motor for a 500 watts motor which in this case is equal to around 250watts due to peak performance and all that, they will insure it, but because it's a 1000 watts even though registered and they used to insure it, they are not allowed to any more and it makes no sense at all.
@flip inheck Yep it is ridiculous, it seems to be the same for electric cars as well, where as they used to be cheaper to insure they are now more expensive to insure, Electric car guy found this out to his dismay, he loves electric cars so cheap to run or was not anymore cos the insurance has gone up more than the petrol equivalent. Kinda makes you think, is there or is there not supposed to be a climate emergency where we are all supposed to go over to electric, but they seem to want to cash in on our conscience.
Has anyone made an online petetion about this and sent it to the government? I think this could be more relevant than ever with all the climate change talk and zero emissions pledges.
Well, the Government are at fault over the e-scooters being even sold to people whom then without knowing it, find the item they have brought in good faith is illegal and they get the fines for them. They should either set up a law to let people use these items legally with safety rules Or stop companies or shops selling all of them until the law is sorted out? I think it is totally wrong that the Government lets these electric vehicles be sold in the 1st place to consumers who are totally in the dark about the fact the pricey e-scooter or e-skateboards are illegal.
But people can use them on private land. They should definitely mandate a warning though, and once legislation has been passed, use that same system to inform buyers what they need to do to be legal.
We are in Sweden just now and they are everywhere. Great transportation bin and around the city. Time the UK woke up and offered people more options than cramped busses and late trains. This country is a joke.
All road users including cyclists should have to take a CBT before being let loose on the road, if the govt is really concerned about road safety that would make the most sense.
These modes of transport are great alternatives to using public transport and cars. They are environmentally friendly for one and more compatible when commuting through a city. Non-motorized kick scooters and skateboards also promote healthy lifestyles so why are governments not giving them some form of regulation? They are no more dangerous than bicycles and it all comes down to how cautious and safe the rider is being.
Only trouble is being the UK they will probably bring in such legislation that makes the Escooter completely useless and under powered so the law will say you can have them but they will be crap.
Not true, legal e bikes are limited to 15mph, after that the motor cuts out. I can push mine under pedal power to 20 mph so I don’t know where you’re getting the 30mph from unless it’s illegal e bikes imported from China.
They focus on a few fatalities on E scooters, yet, there are far more fatalaties caused by mopeds, the dreaded motorbike, and the biggest culprits of all, lorries and cars. The policeman points out, to an accident recently involving an E scooter????? But fails to mention the numerous accidents involving crazed mopeds and motorbikes, etc. Its all about educating people, E scooter users like all road users, are good and bad, so its far better to issue fines or confiscate Escooters, when dealing with bad road users, a bad road user is someone who is a bad road user irrespective of what mode of transport they use.
I still think this is so stupid, bikes are allowed and are larger, more combursome and reach the same speed. Require no prior training, licences or anything and share the same road space. I get that there are legal loop holes with motored vehicles and the legislation has to be air tight, but COME ON. If bikes are allowed, I see no reason why these can't be. The arguments against really do fall flat.
What a strange anti-tech angle this video has. A tech channel should only bring up this topic to scorn outdated laws and discuss what needs to change to make this short distance mode of transport more viable than cars. E.g. consider them like bikes, perhaps let them use bike lanes, perhaps make a lane on wide pavements for boards and scooters.
Reporting on deaths on these devices, can we check how many car deaths, motorcycle deaths, bicycle deaths etc there were in the same period ? Do bicycles need licensing and insurance and tax etc!
@flip inheck makes sense, we need something to make these things legal, PVL, personal vehicle license. Need a little practical test, maybe a small theory test so we're all doing the same thing. Test happens anywhere a normal vehicle test takes place, and cost £30. Lasts 3 years, £10 per year to run and electric personal vehicle. Money goes into cycleway development.etc. It's not rocket science
@flip inheck That's no good, the idea is to promote the use, not make it more difficult that standard transport. Seems like governments struggle to find things in between.
@@o0GoldSoundz0o Yeah, because licensing and insurance does such a great job with cars, like preventing crashes and running people over. Aw, your poor car. Eff it.
Insurance for bicycles does exist. Look at Bikimo I think it’s called. My work has just moved and I now have an hour walk there and an hour back with a train journey in the middle. I can’t take my bike on the train. I found out about the Onewheel and got hooked, been saving up, choosing accessories etc. Really, REALLY excited. The perfect solution and LOADS of fun. I’m almost ready to order and now I’ve just seen this. Actually heartbroken. I’m a very careful cyclist and I would be very careful and respectful of pedestrians on the Onewheel. I would gladly pay for insurance if that’s what it takes, but I’m very sad and quite annoyed that you can’t even use them in cycle lanes, even with all the appropriate safety gear. I don’t think that makes any sense. I don’t expect the law will change any time soon. Totally gutted.

What about Electric Cycles, some of those are capable of speeds in excess of 40mph . Mobility Scooters have to be registered to be used on the roads and are restricted to 8 mph (Restricted to 4 mph on pavements), but how many times do you see unregistered mobility scooter driving down the center of a bussy road ! I am not atty disabled as my partner is disabled and has to use one !
e-bikes which don't require you to cycle are also illegal at the moment. There are speed limits on bicycles with electric motors, and the motors must only start once the rider has started pedalling; they can only be for assistance if they are to classified as a bicycle.
Scooters should be made legal with some kind of theory test and practical CBT type test to ensure previous non road users and other licence holders alike show they have the correct mindset and ability to understand how to operate safely on these potentially dangerous machines on UK roads with a clear understanding of the highway code. Electric scooters should be registered with insurance and have number plates fitted with the addition of a suitable helmet if being used on the roads. Insurance is a no brainer and registration required so irresponsible people can be held to account for any wrong doing like any other motorized road user. Scooters should be able to keep up with traffic keeping within legal speed limits up to 40mph so the power of the machine should be irrelevant. (BRING ON THE BIG BOYS) oh yes. These machines would NOT be allowed on pavements dual carriageways or obviously motorways. Front and rear independent breaks, lights, horn and especially indicators should be fitted as you simply can't ride safely one handed while demonstrating which way you want to turn. The government should in short simply bring electric scooters inline with at least a 50cc moped bar the road tax. Remember Guns don't kill people, people do. Scooters, pushbikes, motorbikes, car's ECT all kill because of people so to not legalize ELECTRIC SCOOTERS would be ludicrous. Before anyone asks about skateboards and unicycles I'll say not to be used on UK roads unless they can be fitted with the above safety measures.
How many cyclists die vs e scooters... If e scooters need insurance etc, please ensure this is rolled out to bicycles too, as not only are they faster, they're also more dangerous.
Let's make biking illegal as someone was killed doing that or require a license........ Also, the 50 mph boards aren't what the issue is about - it's the e-scooters in cities! What about looking at how some cities (eg. Copenhagen) smartly have made laws to accommodate e-scooters..? What a one-sided and poor piece...
Absolutely nobody believes their silly lies to justify why it's illegal. Lets stop playing pantomimes, everybody knows it's because you cannot make money from it just yet.
In all honestly when I thought about it and started looking more into this electrical scooters, it sounded like a sound way of getting to and from work but I scrolled down in google and saw the .Gov website talking about it being illegal? There's me thinking to myself wait so these things are being sold in Brick and water stores like it's normal when it's Practically a illegal way of transport, there's zero reason of having them in stores, it just sounds like a total waste of engineers and people who make these things, if you're only allowed to use them on Private land then it's a toal waste of money and peoples time. If you do you're clearly not traveling anywhere at all , I'd rather not question law but this law really doesn't make any sense what's so ever.
@@JTP6 yer would be good if they did revise the law but in all fairness I rode past a cop car the other day and he looked straight at me and didn't bat an eyelid.
These are just awesome, Ideal for me to get to work better than driving the Landrover. They just need to allow the class on the road I'd have no issue with insurance and tax.....Hell I'd expect a tax rebate on my car if I used one of these to get to work.
What its all about is tax and insurance. If the Government cannot get cash for this then it will be banned. However, I have an electric cycle and this is appears to be OK to use on the road and this is a confusing message.
Either they're made legal on sidewalks, or they're made legal on roads. If you're rear ended on a road while on a scooter then you're probably dead, a better solution would be to limit their speed, or restrict central parts of the city from using other vehicles, places where gridlock is a regular problem.
Make sure reasonable criteria are applied to all vehicles - e-scooters, Segway, e-bicycles, mobility scooters and manual bicycles. All are potentially dangerous if used irresponsibly. All are beneficial (and FUN) if used appropriately. They're not going to just go away, so the government should address this in a constructive and cooperative manner - but NOW, not sometime in the future.
They are motorised traffic & should not be ridden on pavements or cyclepaths which are for non-motorised traffic. Bikes, except e-bikes, aren't motorised. E-bikes are legally restricted to 15mph & generally are pedal-assist. But some of these more powerful scooters are not restricted (lets be open here, some people will un-restrict these like they've been doing mopeds for years). Plus, their wheels are an unsafe size for roads, potholes etc. Numerous reports of them bursting into flames as the motor burns out. For crying out loud, these things are really just toys. Get a bicycle & get fit.
They're no different to bicycles. People get killed all the time on them too and pose no different a risk to pedestrians than bicycles and they don't need insurance either. In fact scooters are safer because it's easy to jump off if things go wrong. I've scootered along side pedestrians in parks at 2mph no trouble at all and again easy to step off if things get tricky or too intimidating to pedestrians. e-scooters are easier to get onto trains, busses when longer distances are needed. They're ideal for that last mile journey where bicycles are just too bulky.Government is retarded and don't want to embrace solutions to reducing our carbon footprint. They should be banning cars, vans and lorries throughout specific roads in cities and open them up to safer riding for cyclists and e-scooters/skateboards.Anyone in government actively blocking solutions to climate change should be jailed for life for crime against the World and should be treated similar to genocide war crimes.
These contractions are absolutely stupid I get in the way of my BMW when I drive half a mile down the pub or off-licence take them off the road people should have cars only or stay at home. I’m very important I don’t have a job with a banker in the city
One last thing Electric unicycles are not covered under the law and are classed as toys, skate boards may be covered by the fact that they have two or more wheels as the law states. Escooters are illegal purely because they have no pedals, otherwise people would have bought 250watt scooters and ridden quite happily which is the law on bicycles.
the problem is brittan is the nanny state everyone know the risks if they drive one it's ridiculous the do gooders are destroying this country so push bike should be banned as they go over 20 mph and are dangerous just like scooters and skateboards. so BAN PUSHBIKES.
these news people are dumb af, NO rental scooter goes up to 30 mph, lime and lyft use the ninebot max which goes up to 20 mph, scooters that go over 30 mph are sport/recreational scooters that cost almost $2000 or more, I spent months researching the right scooter before I bought one
First of all getting hit by a lorry is not the e scooter fault. People get hit crossing the roads on foot. These things are just as dangerous as the rider. The problem is the government can't make money from them cos you can't tax them. Electric bikes are similar only thing is you're doing the work its just assisting you. Problem is people who don't know how to ride these things properly will ride them and fall of it cos they can't control it
Like anything with wheels you need to familiarize yourself with it. Learn to use it and understand safety gear is a must. Putting someone on a eskateboard who has never used one will definitely "fall off". Shocking misrepresentation of practical and useful mean of commuting.
@Ann Onimous If insurance and license plates is needed to prove legalities and security then it needs to be done. its not common sense to misrepresent such useful modes of transport, while your own petrol ⛽ powered car is killing you and harming generations. Common sense. Legalize these devices with appropriate laws, because while your saying stfu many other countries are WAY AHEAD.
@Ann Onimous You drive diesel? And its better? OK, Park your car in a garage, turn it on and sit in the same room. Fossil fuel mining and use, impacts the environment significantly more. Lithium, tin, boron, cobalt, etc. Any element mining process is hazardous. But Fossil fuel mining? Fracking, drilling, transporting, evening storage is Dangerous and lethal. No need for me to underwrite a factual statement. Your comment and this video is a poor attempt to undermind "Progression".
They shouldn’t restrict them as far as being illegal. They should re-strict the speeds on sidewalks down to say 5 to 7 miles an hour. People only die on scooters because they are inexperienced. Go find any young kid at a skate park that rides a skateboard every day and throw them on a scooter and he’ll ride it like a pro and be able to read traffic and everything around him. Give a grown woman a scooter and she’ll run it into a wall the first time she hits the throttle. We can’t make laws where every single person has to wear a helmet and be protected just because a small number of people don’t even know how to walk straight. Maybe it should be illegal to jog because I keep a 13 to 14 mile an hour pace and that’s just too dangerous for the average person. Our world is a joke. There are so many thousands of kids around my neighborhood who skate every day at Parks where they are flying down 12 to 15 stairs and virtually none of them have ever hit their heads and they don’t wear helmets. The only persons I’ve ever heard of that hit their heads are those that are brand new and have just started. Our world is a joke regardless
one can travel from a to b without hindrance no matter what transport you choose, it is a matter of consent, your consent, simply refuse to consent to the road-traffic-act, for it is an act, not law unless one consents to it, then it is the law, stand firm
There needs to be a thorough study on the dangers posed, and legislate according. That said, I don't see how they are all that different to cycling, just that they are easier to ride at slower speeds and some can go very fast like they say in the video.
Cycling is well established, and it can be very hard to change something like that. That said, cycling also requires far more effort to go fast compared to a light electric vehicle, especially for any length of time. The probability of someone going fast on a light electric vehicle is much greater.
The Aussie guy said the real truth about the police in Australia with their positive attitude towards people using electric scooters on the streets & paths. I'm live on the Gold Coast & most of the QLD cops don't know about the new laws. They just are fascinated plus interested in the product its self since the they are on push bikes & when they see me on the road or path going 30+kmh with that shock desire look on their face thinking 'I want one'. As long as you act right with courtesy towards the public, then it's all good. 🇦🇺
if you prohibit something, it is not okay, during the communist period I was not allowed to leave my country, now I am glad that I did not run in the uk, because in you city is prohibited electric scooter, in my city I can use electric scooter.
Make them legal, let us the user get around on electric and free up cars on roads. Also people are killed on cycle bikes everday and they can reach 25mph. It's all to do with government and profits.
There are legitimate concerns though. As they aren't physically powered by people, people are far more likely to go fast. They are too fast for pavements. To be on the roads however, they need insurance as they can be driven quite quickly, very easily. Unfortunately, the authorities are always slow to come up with solutions. You do have to remember that insurance companies will have to come up with insurance models that they are happy with for them.
they are only "illegal", coz governments cannot decided yet how much to charge for the usage and therefore, profit. period.

Just let people have fun for god sake!
Word
So you can ride a ebike but not a scooter ???
"Who the hell are you?" "I am the party pooper."
Just make laughing and having fun illegal. Book closed! 😑
There's a company selling road legal scooters from June
28mph vsett 9+
Search on UA-cam road legal scooter UK, red writing on thumbnail 😎
@@S-O-T Sounds promising we shall see if they become legal this year other having to register them as mopeds.
Just buy a big diesel 3 ton land rover and drive over the speed limit. That's acceptable.
Segways and scooters should be legalised and regulated, limited speed etc...
PLEASE! Make an updated video on this, they're meant to be doing electric scooter legalisation trials in the next month.
Absolute rubbish law!!! Cyclists with electric motors are aloud! What the hell is the fairness?
Pretty sure insurance companies will be happy to take your money as soon as the legislation is there. 💸💸💸
Might be good for Central London, they should do a cbt system and let them ride on the cycle line.
So what about mobility scooters? They are legal, even on the pavement. This law doesnt quite make sense.
About time the outdated law changes to embrace these clean methods of travel🤙plus I want one
Only trouble is being the UK they will probably bring in such legislation that makes the Escooter completely useless and under powered so the law will say you can have them but they will be crap.
Bicycles can go at 30 mph so speed can't be the issue. I put it down to the nanny state.
Not true, legal e bikes are limited to 15mph, after that the motor cuts out. I can push mine under pedal power to 20 mph so I don’t know where you’re getting the 30mph from unless it’s illegal e bikes imported from China.
@@TheSTOPlayer I mean human powered bicycles.
Just goes to show all this green environment let’s save the planet is a complete load of bollox
It’s all a pound note...
I dont understand why these would be any more dangerous than a bike, and the government needs to hurry up an legalise these.
Seems like governments struggle to find things in between.
than london and other part of uk, should take a deep look at utrecht
Are human powered bicycles legal on the road? Should bicycle riders be required to get a license and insurance?
Having had someone cause 800 quid’s worth of damage to my car by scraping down the side of it, I think insurance for bicycles would be a great idea.
@@o0GoldSoundz0o Yeah, because licensing and insurance does such a great job with cars, like preventing crashes and running people over. Aw, your poor car. Eff it.
Insurance for bicycles does exist. Look at Bikimo I think it’s called. I cycle and have insurance mostly to cover the cost of replacing my bike but should I ever cause injury or death to others it covers me up to £2 mill public liability. Thing is it’s not compulsory for a cyclist to have insurance :(
@@TheSTOPlayer What country are you in?
@@mikecane united kingdom and im referring to human powered bikes ie cycling and in the uk its not a legal requirement for cyclists to have insurance, but I have it anyway to cover myself from idiots on the road but also should I ever make mistake as well.
Just get it lol I've just bought an e-scooter and I've seen police, they don't seem bothered.
I have used these for 2 years now. I currently have an etwow gt capable of 25mph.. A zero 10 capable of 30mph.. I've used the zero 10 countless times passing police.. (full face helmet and armoured gloves).. They do sod all. I even had one officer approach me whilst i was stationary showing interest in buying one!! They don't give a crap especially during lockdown. Too many people have them now & its spreading faster than the corona virus. Just ride sensibly and wear appropriate minimal gear.
Part of the U.K. Law that stops us riding on the pavement was brought out in 1835! Legislation that is 184 years old!!!
I am not atty disabled as my partner is disabled and has to use one !
www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules
Any bike that is powered above 15.5 mph is subject to moped/motorbike legislation - whether electric or internal combustion engine.
If there were fewer cars the limits on your partner’s mobility scooter on the road might be relaxed as it would be safer.
@@sfryer61 Thank you for the information, but as stated in the rules this is for cycles with a Max output of 250W,
e-bikes which don't require you to cycle are also illegal at the moment. There are speed limits on bicycles with electric motors, and the motors must only start once the rider has started pedalling; they can only be for assistance if they are to classified as a bicycle.
Nothing in this world is dangerous in the hands of a competent person.
How can government be so petty
it's an oversized kids scooter 🙄
So has anything changed legal-wise since August ?
“I’d rather not question law” well that’s the problem with this country. Everyone is far too happy with the status quo
Lol its illegal to help out the planet a bit😂
Yer because it will cost the government money in unpaid tax and revenue on petrol and diesel.
that's not stopping me, e scooters are safe
Mate I ride mine every day on the road if I get fined for being eco friendly then whatever the joke is on them really👍
@@Saltermedia same here, hope the laws are revised
@@JTP6 yer would be good if they did revise the law but in all fairness I rode past a cop car the other day and he looked straight at me and didn't bat an eyelid.
I've went past a few and they just ignored me, some are mostly impressed by the scooter 😁
Yeah I've seen police and they don't seem bothered
How many cyclists die vs e scooters...
They don't even take up the road or the sidewalk I don't understand
Or, you know, ban cars from the city.
Here's a fresh idea. TAKE CARS OFF THE ROAD. Its about time we change how we move!
🤬🤬🤬
You got a loicense for that deadly e-scooter, chum?
Make sure reasonable criteria are applied to all vehicles - e-scooters, Segway, e-bicycles, mobility scooters and manual bicycles. All are potentially dangerous if used irresponsibly. All are beneficial (and FUN) if used appropriately. They're not going to just go away, so the government should address this in a constructive and cooperative manner - but NOW, not sometime in the future.
How comes electric bikes dont have to be insured but there still legal
What a total load of crap more people are hit by cycles and they don't have to get insurance or follow the road rules.
UK PUBLIC WANT E SCOOTERS LEGAL IN THE UK SAP .
Plenty of tax and profits will be missed out on. They must be banned.
one person died on the motorway.... you wouldn't use bicycle on the motorway, why would you use e-scooter like this. very stupid indeed
These are dangerous to other road users and pedestrians
Bikes go as fast as a car. Iv seen bikes getting flashed by speed cameras on a 30mph road. No ticket for them. No helmet too.
An E-scooter can still be pushed by your feet so shouldn't that count?
@@Jimbob007UK Under the law no it doesn't count at all in the UK.
the problem is brittan is the nanny state everyone know the risks if they drive one it's ridiculous the do gooders are destroying this country so push bike should be banned as they go over 20 mph and are dangerous just like scooters and skateboards. so BAN PUSHBIKES.
these news people are dumb af, NO rental scooter goes up to 30 mph, lime and lyft use the ninebot max which goes up to 20 mph, scooters that go over 30 mph are sport/recreational scooters that cost almost $2000 or more, I spent months researching the right scooter before I bought one
Just don’t understand what’s wrong with electric transport. I mean this is the future we’re talking about?!!
I haven't seen anyone hate them though Mr journalist!
cars can reach speeds of up to 200mph , but we don't do it, most cars can do at leas 70 mph, why they keep wittering on about it,
Their just as dangerous as bikes, skateboards and anything on the road
These are no more dangerous than a bike
This is a classic example of not tackling the root cause. Make it illegal to sell and problem solved - at its source.
Because that's worked well for illegal drugs?
one can travel from a to b without hindrance no matter what transport you choose, it is a matter of consent, your consent, simply refuse to consent to the road-traffic-act, for it is an act, not law unless one consents to it, then it is the law, stand firm
Still illegal?
Unfortunately
I just can't see why e bikes are legal but e scooters are not, surely they are both electrically powered.
Any moving vehicle or cycling is dangerous. Government can now ban ALL of them. 👏 (being sarcastic)
if you prohibit something, it is not okay, during the communist period I was not allowed to leave my country, now I am glad that I did not run in the uk, because in you city is prohibited electric scooter, in my city I can use electric scooter.
if you cant ride it then dont buy it simple. Kmt
If you can't use these things, what the point of amazon and eBay selling them 🙄🤨
I just want to go on walks etc
Make them legal, let us the user get around on electric and free up cars on roads. Also people are killed on cycle bikes everday and they can reach 25mph. It's all to do with government and profits.
But electric bikes are okay and they’re faster :)
Seized for their kids use more like.
Motorcycles can reach 70mph and more those are dangerous. Check the bicycle deaths
