- Hey, guys! Square Enix flew me out to San Francisco for the Shadowbringers media tour, and while I was excited to check out Dancer, I had no idea how much of a treat I'd be in for. This job was FANTASTIC! Can't wait to check it out at launch.

It's mandatory to move around while conducting your attacks. It's part of your damage.
Bonus dmg if you constantly jump.

I wish I had used it more! Haha, I was overwhelmed with everything else considering I just immediately dove into the dungeon without really deciding to learn how to play it beforehand.

6:05 The pronunciations actually weren't bad! The only one I'd say you remotely "butchered" was Emboite, which is more like "on-bwa-tay", but the rest is very passable lol. This is a great video and I really appreciate how in-depth you went to make sure we understood exactly what was going on! I don't think I've seen any of your other videos before, but this definitely earned you a subscribe from me
Thank you! Yeah, I see a lot of comments around the internet of people saying they're a bit worried it looks either too spammy, or too proc based, but I never felt that even a little bit while playing. It, much like dancing, had a really nice flow to it.
I'm maining dancer and sticking to it until all bad dancers leave the class. Should be lots of fun.

Dance partner benefits reminding me of that one WoW warlock buff that everyone always wanted but could only be applied to one other person. Inb4 people paying for dance partner to boost their parses that totally dont exist.
With the release of new patch notes, they changed Devilment and Sabre Dance effects with each other lol.

Well since I'm hating the healer changes, this will be my new main.

@@datboi04 Not only that, it technically isn't a DPS loss. Because they are extra added procs to your combo. Whereas on MCH, there could be a potential super unlucky spamming Split Shot until reload was ready to do Slug Shot, which IS a DPS loss. With this Dancer system, you are ALWAYS finishing your combo, but have the potential to add to it if you get the proc.
Proc hell.

Great video and super informative while making the job look insanely fun and inviting to play. I still have a question that I've yet to see be answered. Does DNC pull out a crossbow to do Big Shot and Desperado? lmao

I was happy to see the Curing Waltz, as I have previously had bad experiences with healers leaving groups, for whatever reasons. Most notably, my first run through Castrum Abania, where I as a RDM had to heal a DRK, cause the healer left, cause the other DPS was a Dragoon. When I used Curing Waltz however.. I was impressed at how disappointed it was possible for a single person to get.. Even Summoner can be more useful, by just putting a single Mind earring on, or something, and just going to town that way. Curing Waltz definitely needs to be significantly buffed, reworked, or just plain old removed. It doesn't make a difference whatsoever. Maybe it could, if it had something to do with feathers, and had the same cooldown as fan dances, with a 300 potency cure. But right now, it's downright useless. 2/10 stars.
In other news, don't combo Dancers with Samurais. Sure, the damage boost works wonders on a damage centered DPS class. But if they ever decide to use Improvisation, and Meditate at same time, you're in for a facedesk of a lifetime, watching the 2 idiots wasting their DPS by not being allowed to do anything, whilst they try to fill their gauges.
so in short the flourish versions - are like dot procs - where once they are proc'd they stay proc'd until either the timer for the proc runs out or you use it - whichever comes first - not horrid but can be confusing but once you grasp that detail its actually not confusing at all.
small edit - if your dance partner is a BLM or SAM - if their top end damage is anything like it currently is - I fear for the tanks agro holding ability if they arent in tank stance lol
I got into Bard for the first time in Stormblood because the changes made it more appealing and this job seems even cooler which is great because it should use the same gear.
It does share gear with Bard and Machinist, correct!
I think there is a typo in the name of the Standard and Technical Finish at 7min 12: Espri Gauge instead of Esprit Gauge. At 7min20 Esprit Gauge is written correctly. Dunno if they noticed and corrected that ^^
A good run down of DNC. Makes things nice and easy to understand. NGL tho, I was cringing at how the DNC in the footage just stood there in those geyser AoEs

You actually have way less time than you'd think for that mechanic. Yoshi-P fucked it up a ton on the recent livestream too lol
@@VeryMerri oh! If you were talking irl then that's perfectly understandable. When I look at it closely those aoes have a surprisingly big hit box. And yeah, I remember seeing Yoshi getting knocked up the LL xD
On another note , i still dont think that biss theme is really fitting... but i may be biased for the SB and HW ones...
It may end up growing on me tho , like alpha v.3
I'm really not enjoying that synthed-up voice just repeating the same lines over and over... and it really seems to be the only "unnatural" thing to the music, I wish they just refrained from putting it in there.
I'm mainly looking forward to Gunbreaker as i'm more into tanking than range-dpsing but dancer really looks like something i could get into, tbh

So Standard Step you want to keep up all the time right? Is Technical Step the same since they don't share a timer? And do you want to start the battle with both steps, one of the steps?

Oh thank god, the procc skills are only usable when the effect is active. That means the rota can be simplified by Makros! I really was afraid, that this class was complicated as hell to play, but since we can use the Casades and Fan Dances and stuff as Makros, it will be much easier to play, especially for PS4 players (like myself)!

Nice explanation the best so far but having a male avatar doing this job just seems wrong, btw red mage made me want to play casting classes too :). Red Mage is my main now because I nailed the controller scheme for it. Who knows Dancer will be my main now if I can find the perfect controller scheme for it

I don't understand why they removed all the support utilities away from the existing ranged dps to fit a dps role better... Then release a healing, buffing dancer AND STILL CALL IT DAMAGE

@OP I wasn't around in 1.0, only 2.0+ and I have heard plenty opposite to your claims that had said WAR was not that great in 1.0, like at all.
were you able to see what armor dancer shares with? been wanting to get a shire set ready for early access launch.
It's confirmed to be aiming, as expected it'll be sharing gear with the other physical ranged jobs.

Woah don't be sorry, that pirouette was nicely said! As a French very good, except Emboité you pronounced the M but when E and M are togather they form their own sound it's not E it's not M it's just a new sound. Very impressed by your pronunciation of Pirouette, it must not be easy lol for non francophone.
I'd like to take credit, but I just knew Pirouette because I'd heard it before on a few occasions lol

I was as well, but it was really easy to get the hang of even after 20 minutes of just diving in blind.

I watch this video a lot cause I can't wait to play DNC. (well the end of the video anyway.) And every time I do the fact that you constantly move back and forth when you don't need to move at all annoys the hell out of me lol. Best gameplay of DNC tho that I've seen come out of the media tour tho. :)
So, there's actually a reason for that. I have a mild form of OCD known as Dermatillomania, which causes me to pick at my skin. Because of that, I have a tendency to keep my fingers busy at times so I don't revert to harming my fingers accidentally. Like if there's a pen or something on my desk, I'll just idly fiddle with that if I'm sitting around. It's translated a lot into my gameplay as well, as I just find myself constantly hitting keys, even when I don't need to.

It’s slower than it sounds. Almost all of your procs are on the GCD, so if you can play MCH right now, you can ply this job.

It sounds off the wall broken, good luck to bards and machinists convincing statics to let them stay any class other than dancer.
Jacodaify it's really not take into account you buff one at a time mostly with aoe buffs capping out at 6% and the dh and crit buff is only 15secs a dancer is easily the weakest ranged dps on its own, BRD and mch will spit out higher numbers for the duration, dnc is basically mechanically similar to rdm
great video. kinda triggered me when he used the aoe stuff at long range.
