Great review... I canceled a backordered Redcat and already have the FRA400 in hand. Since I got this in lieu of the redcat, I would love to see a shootout between the two scopes.
Jason here, I know you'll be in love with the ASKAR. I have an Explore Scientific ED80 Triplet that I will be doing a review of soon and can talk about the pros and cons of the threes scopes. It will be interesting comparing the triplet of the ED80 with the Quad SpaceCat and the Quint Askar. I hope to have that up in a few weeks so stay tuned and if you havent already subscribe to our channel.
We have just about the same setup. I've got the Askar 108/600 with a 2600 and an iOptron Gem45-EC. I'm also in Arizona (Avondale actually). I've recently ordered the Rainbow Astro RST-135 for faster setup as my backyard is terrible for viewing anything and I have to get on my roof. Awesome video as well!
Hello - nice video . I have a 2” screw in optolong l enhance filter . It’s not clear to me how I can use that with this scope . How do I mount it ? Thank you
Nice vid and very well explained! I'm considering to get that scope or maybe the Explore Scientific ED 102MM, configured on a AVX mount as my first astrophotography setup :)
@AstroWorldTV Absolutely Dan! I'm watching all of your replays and looking forward to joining one of your episodes in future; love your new "pimp my rig" series 👍Keep looking up and enjoying the journey... Cheers! Cameron
Thanks for the review! How would you compare the FRA400 to the WO zenithstar 61? The FRA400 with the 0.7 reducer seems to have a similar FOV to the ZS61 with the 0.8X reducer.
Hi Charles . Both are awesome tubes. However, the biggest difference will be that the fra400 is a quintuplet which means that there are 5 elements in the scope and that translates to almost 0 chromatic aberration and a flattener is not needed due to the extra elements in the scope. Even though the WO61 is a doublet, you can get great images with it but depending on your chip size you will most likely need a flattener. Where none is needed with the FRA. Thanks for the comment Dan
It's the Explore Scientific ED102 FCD100 CF on the CEM40 and it handles it very well as its such a light scope. The CEM40 is rated to 40 lbs and the ES ED102 CF is a mere 7lbs. I love this setup as well as my ASKAR.
Nice review, quite informative (and tempting to get one of those FRA400's)! I have a Carbon Fiber ES ED102 also... but I must ask, where did you find the red tube rings? I need those!
Hi! Thanks for your comment! The red rings with the mounting holes in all sides came with the askar and unfortunately at the time of this comment are not sold separately. However if red is what your looking for, primaluce lab sells red rings in a lot of sizes
@@AstroWorldTV just the imaging train... I'm looking to get this scope, but my mount is pretty low capacity. Wondering if the weight they show in the website is right: just 2.6kg for the tube... doubting
Nice review, good job of speaking slow and clear. Well done!

really nice video!
Quick question for you: what was the need for the risers, between the rings and the plate.
Thanks!

Hello. Can I ask how many lbs is your Explore Scientific imaging rig weighs in total sitting on top of your CEM40 in this video? Thanks.

Great review but looks like audio got corrupted so might want to fix...
Thanks Cameron! See you on explore soon!

Does the dew shield stay in place when putting a flat panel on it?
I wouldn’t put a spike a flat on it but my Lacerta and Pegasus 150 it holds!
Great video, do you have a EC 127 mounted on CEM 40? can it handle that much weight?

Just out of curiosity, what size losmandy plate is that you put on it?
That’s the Primalucelabs 120 plate
Are these spacers just metal pieces with holes?
Is it sturdy enough?
Hi! Which spacers are you referring to?
@@AstroWorldTV The dovetail spacers, should've been more specific ^^
@@msacco the spacers are very sturdy they are 20mm Primaluce plus spacers from Primaluce Lab

@@AstroWorldTV Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks very much for the reply. Clear skies!
Weight of the rig after all set up, please?
The whole rig with the mount or just the imaging train?
