“Not bad, but not freezing, but not livable”
That sums up a Minnesota winter perfectly.
Reminds me of Fargo, ND in winter. I hope to never experience that again.
Only last part of that sentence is true here in Finland on winters..
* laughs in icelandic *
Reminds me of Buffalo /Niagara New York winters!💂
Michael Baughman - Upstate NY! Yes. Frozen fingers, toes & noses. Leave boots, ski pants & hand knit socks by the door. Hour later there’s a puddle.
This was after walking to the mailbox. Nevermind after actual cross-country skiing.
Had to move to TX. Still miss 8mos of winter. Snow piles still in parking lots in late May. Lol.
He is one of the best storytellers around.
yet weirdly enough they edited laughter in, when you see the crowd(which they seem to try avoid with zoom ins) they arent laughing,, whats wrong with that fucking crowd
The story didn't have a lot of punchlines, it was just really engaging and humorous. They seemed into his story, but you are right they weren't laughing much.
I didn't laugh either . . . maybe he's funny to children
the laughing just made him look bad, because it made it look like he needed the fake laughter, but it just made it all awkward and uncomfortable, his story is great why bother underlining that for cheap laughs
He is one amazing comedian, it's just not that kind of story.
Sometimes the UA-cam algorithm ain’t too bad, thanks for the memories Louie ❤️
Louie's family oriented comedy is touching and brilliant, we all need these stories.
I found my way back to you today mr. Anderson. Thanks for the laughs and RIP
RIP Louie Anderson. You were absolutely amazing. 🙏🏽❤️
Saw him in Vegas, he killed it. He stayed till the end and took pictures with me and my wife.
RIP Louie... Thanks for the laughs, man.
Rest in Peace to one of my favorite comics, you will be dearly missed Louie
Love Louie's comedy style. Timeless.
Love you so glad I saw you in person. One of the greatest
God bless Louie Anderson.
I love this man.
I love Louie, such a funny kind human being. I feel really bad for his friends and family. How he must be missed so much, especially by his comedian actor family.
“Dad you cant drive”...” What do ya mean, I drove a tank in France”......hilarious!
Thats MN life right there for real! It's a pain in the ass but happy to go through it.
Wow. Sooo healing .
This is not happening is the best
That was pleasant. He is a funny guy
I remember the cartoon show, that daddy was hell and funny as hell too 😂
RIP LOUIS ANDDERSON ❤️🙏🏻
I went out an bought some pickled eggs, because of this bit. No regrets.
We had a moose lodge in my town. I was just telling someone a story about it the other day. It's odd that this is now in my suggested feed.
I remember life with louie
Love you Lu. My brother. Keep it real.
Dear God I grew up just like Louie Anderson, but my mother was the drunk. He's right about problems in the family, back then in the 50's and 60's you NEVER told anyone family business. What happened at home stayed at home. My dad was one of those drivers back then who also did the bulk oil, and he was always on the hunt for the cheapest gas he could find and that's back when gas was around 28 cents per gallon. Both of my parents were from the depression era, and they never threw anything out if they deemed is had some kind of useful value to it. Even when my father had two gas mowers he still had several push lawn mowers just in case in the gas mowers ran out of gas, or broke down. What Louie described was how many of us baby boomers lived especially if you were family wasn't born with a silver spoon in their mouths. I could go on forever about the cheapness of my father, but that was all he knew, and I accepted that even though I didn't care for it much. God bless you mom and dad RIP!
His cartoon show was funny. I always got a kick out his old man in cartoon form.
bulk oil was 25 cents a quart in 1972 where i lived in michigan.
RIP Louie
Oh man I grew up watching his cartoon, my dad hated the show but I thought it was funny as hell. “Cats lick the butter”
I'm his older brother Roger in my family. "Oh for God's sake.."
Alcoholism is a sad story. People are chuckling but this is a sad story he's telling about his dad. Anyone who lived with an alcoholic knows how sad this is.
Love Luie..
Idk why I'm rewatching this, shit's sad as fuck.
Omg that was funny af
I should become a comedian. I have some whoppers from my childhood
The moose...
MN baby!
Rip man
RIP Louie, one of the funniest comedians to walk the stage.
Check out his portrayal of Mrs. Baskets on baskets it will blow you away!
@@aaaaaaaaaa7699 such an amazing show
@@aaaaaaaaaa7699 idk what you’re talking about portrayal though… it’s not based on a true story lol
@@Empty_Eeyore dude I’m rewatching it as we speak. It is truly a remarkable show. Going through some tough stuff right now and this show is keeping me sane and calm. The second time around has been even better then first. It’s beautiful and nuanced and quite possibly one of my top ten of all time. Which I know is a big statement but im in love and the shame of it all is it made me fall in love with Louie all over again and he literally died as I was finishing the final season. 😭
@@Empty_Eeyore also it is sort of based on a true story as far as Mrs Baskets goes. It’s essentially Louie’s mother. I find myself sometimes wishing Mrs Baskets was my second mother.
I always found it amusing that his Young Louie voice is deeper than his Adult Louie voice.
wvu05 I noticed that
Listen to his old stuff. He's grown higher pitched as the years go on lmao
@@xPOWMIASOLDIERx ppl tend to lower their vocal pitch when anxious, prolly getting more comfortable with himself as he ages

RIP Louie Anderson I hope you Mother greeted you with a big slice of Duncan Hines and you got to see your brother again. Rest easy thanks for the laughs
"And just a drop of Folger's!"
What a lovely thought….
And his dad, no longer an alcoholic saying: "There he is! 'Hitman Louie'! ... I'm sorry, son. I love you. Now come and have some of your mom's cake!"
Proof that comedy is just sadness turned sideways.
Нет- только это видео очень грустно :(
Glad to see some still get it.
Comedy = Tragedy + Time(ing)
Didn’t Shakespeare say that? That comedy is the tragedy of others or some shit like that
@@stickyfloor1820 There's a Mel Brooks quote that goes like this: "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die".
My Dad grew up with Louie and his brothers. He was big back then as well, but nobody picked on him cause he was so quick and witty and would get the best of them. He did a show up here a few years back and we went to see him. And he saw my Dad and was like "Hey how you been how's the old gang doing we should get together"....never forgot his roots🙂💯
I grew up with Louie in the projects too. Went to Ames grade school.
@@colleenpiechowski8511 he is the reason I decided to get into stand up comedy I wish I could have met the guy.

Same here. He calling it Lyft with Louie!
Plot twist those were just really fat people that were try to convince you they were famous
@Blake Dude same but Michael Jackson was there
What a wonderful story ! In interviews Louie comes across as very friendly, nice & down to earth !
What the audience doesn’t realize - the genius of Louie Anderson - he is taking them through a group counseling session because so many can relate to what he is saying. He is telling them, ‘we can make it through this together, I’m with you’ with an innate love for others. RIP Louie
What a lovely and true understanding of his work
Spot on, Doc.
So much of what we hear these days is basically "if your family mistreats you, cut them loose." I think more people should listen to Louie and try to find a way to love their family and accept them if you can. Imperfect love is often better than no love at all.
he really was such a genius. too funny for the macro
@@tradtke101 Agreed. Last thing he says in this clip is "i love you dad, love you mom.... forgive you dad, you didn't mean it."

Same
Same. The fact that he ended this storytelling set with those sentences....holy sh**. What an enormous heart. The generosity of spirit.
“I miss them alot....i dont want them back though”
One of the best story tellers. Rest in peace Louie. You will be missed.
The Bonneville station wagon, the drinking veteran dad, the woods nearby with BB gun fights, the sledding street hill, "that's where the witches live", the scary pickled egg jar, the driving dad home after getting plastered....I just realized I'm Louie Anderson's blood brother from another mother.
Being from Minnesota, I can tell you that everything he described is 100% accurate. The thawed patch on the windshield, the snow globe effect when you hit a snow bank with your car, the small town bar, the mom saying "Oh my god...". What a great storyteller. I can almost feel and smell the story.
Being from your neighbor state, Wisconsin, it's very much the same over here too.
I miss life with Louie.. that made Saturday morning on fox.

Louie never failed to make me laugh. I'll miss hearing his voice, rest in peace
The pickled egg jar at my grandfather's VFW club in the 70s....Louie just described it.
I was visiting my hometown and went to the supermarket there recently, and found a 48-count jar of pickled eggs. Immediately said to myself, “This is going in the lounge at my Knights of Columbus hall- we’re bringing ‘em back”.
I just realized why baby boomers had so many drunken fathers. They didn't have PTSD in WW II, and no therapy for PTSD. They called it shell shock or battle fatigue but didn't do anything to treat it, really. They got drunk instead. Veterans were just expected to continue to function as if they weren't traumatized. Veterans didn't come home from the war and become homeless single guys begging in the street. They came home, got a job, got married, had a bunch of kids and became drunken fathers. The horrors of the war played out subconsciously in their families because they never talked about what they had experienced in the war.
dlwatib
My Dad got permission to sign up at 16. He was in Korea and Vietnam. He had BAD PTSD. And he would be get drunk and snap. He had a gun and swung it around. It was terrifying to experience. I remember my brother and I driving him home. We were 6 or 7. My brother sat on his knees to see over the stirring wheel and I operated the gas and break. We did that more then once but honestly once a month at least.
@@maryallison0509 That's scary.
Oh they did things for "shell shock" they'd execute you for cowardice. Hundreds of men were executed for being traumatised.
PBMS123 I can’t believe I’ve never heard about this before. Where’s the best place to find more information? I was aware that even when the VA finally began publicly acknowledging and treating vets with PTSD, it was still frowned upon by more vets than not at first to seek treatment. My dad had severe PTSD from Vietnam, but he refused to acknowledge PTSD even existed. He drank only occasionally, but he and his brother both had brittle, hair-trigger tempers.

Oddly, this "man" in my family is actually my female cousin who served in the Navy, and instead of a tank, it's a ship.
I’ve been watching old Louie stand up videos since I heard of his passing yesterday. This one is especially bittersweet. Rest In Peace, Louie. You are loved and will be missed.

I met Louie after a performance in Kansas City about 20 years ago. He was such a gracious man. it’s all about what you grow up with. The family situation is what makes it so funny. Look at about your growing up was like. ❤😂
He feels a lot more in his element this time, rather than last time. A lot more casual this time around, like a friend of your parents telling you a story he didn't tell you as a kid but is going to now that you're grownup and a fellow adult.

My pop was a WW2 vet. I can remember many nights that my dad woke up screaming " incoming..incoming" along with calling his men's names. Yet, i had a perfect and happy childhood. I was infinitely blessed. I married a man from a large family with a horrible father who was never in the military. I could NEVER understand how his kids defended him and mourned at his funeral. I refused to go and be a hypocrite. After listening to his narration of this story and his closing statement...i began to understand a little of my husband's feelings for his dad. Thank you and may you be held in the arms of angels for all the laughter and love you gave to others.
::Listening to this at work:: Having watched the "Life with Louie" cartoon back in the day, my imagination is showing the characters in this scenario. Obviously, it would not pass mustard with the S&P of Fox Kids at the time...unless it was one of those "on a very special" episodes. XD
