      @@jonathanperry8331 the word he used in the beginning, “hospitality”. What it actually means is adding a personal touch to regular service. Getting to know people and not treating them like a group, but as individuals.

    • @jonathanperry8331
      @jonathanperry8331 Рік тому

      @@Dustomatic well maybe my idea of a buffet is different because the ones I went to (we had this awesome one called Old country buffet it was amazing especially as a kid you could go get a soda and put macaroni and cheese on ice cream, sushi you name it. My point is that usually in a buffet in my part of the country you don't have a waiter you just go and grab up whatever the hell you want. I guess you would have some crabby customers that would be mad if the tray wasn't full when they walked in and you have to cater with them. I've never been to a buffet that had a waiter.

    • @Dustomatic
      @Dustomatic Рік тому +8

      @@jonathanperry8331 They clearly had a ton of regulars. How often do you have to see the same stranger out in public before you acknowledge you recognize each other? The answer is different for different people. But once you acknowledge it, you intrinsically respect each other more because now you’re not strangers anymore. His manager(and apparently the whole Golden Corral chain) knows this and set up a system to expedite this process.

      I go in cycles to my local Starbuck's. When I'm dragging ass and don't get up for work early enough to make my own coffee....I'm there more often. When I'm going good...I get up early and I might not go in for a couple weeks. But they remember me and always know my order.
      When Covid hit.....they were one of the only places still open. I always threw extra money in the tip cup.
      It's weird to get nostalgic for a corporate chain place....but it's not really about that. It's about the people who work at my local....and for some reason, they always remember me, and they always take care of me.

      PRety good where I am at in the midwest, kinda shitty in another location some miles away from their original spot tho lol. I think it all depends on how good their workers are or lazy they are; as it applies to all food places, hence why people tend to dislike some food places.

      You should never feel embarrassed by what you like!
      The two most important people at any establishment: hospital, hotel, truck stop, wherever, are the cook and the janitor. Always make friends with them. If the cook calls you french fries, after 2-3 friendly interactions you can and Will get extra fries. When I was at a hospital one time, I would always order a burger with extra bacon fries and extra side of pickles. Dudes name was Ronny. After 3 days no up charge on extra bacon, he would close the lid and tell me to tell the cashier it was a plain burger. End of the week, he would see me on line and have it ready, walk it around the counter and tell me to go out the side door for free lunch.
      If you dont like being called french fries, just chuckle and say "the names,*insert your preferred name* but I dooooooo looooove french fries!" I guarentee you will start getting double fries for free.
