Big fan of this game's dialogue. It's like everyone talks like they're in a great Scottish fable. Combined with the stop-motion aesthetic it really sells the folktale angle this game's going for.
As a stop motion animator myself, I had aspirations to make a stop motion game someday but didn’t know if it was possible. Seeing this, I am encouraged to pursue that dream.
You know what I want? A stop motion animation game that looks like those old lego stop motion animation videos I used to watch in 2008. It needs to happen.
All the power to you, who knows, maybe a theme and an aesthetic you like could stick well with a certain gameplay? There's definitely a few short and obscure games with stop motion out there, I just wish I could remember their names rn agh
This is the kind of game you can never experience again. It's just so... Judero and I 'aven't another way to describe it. The entire section with Mab and the townsfolk after convinced me to go through this myself
I'm only 3 minutes in as of posting this comment, and I'm loving this. It's so weird, yet so incredibly endearing. The fact it's stop motion alone is impressive enough, but to roll with such a strange, unrefined art style like this? All I can say is Hell Yeah.
You may find something interesting in the Zeno Clash series too. It's set in a world with hardly any humans, full of freaks, chimeras, aberrations and mutants with inspirations ranging from the works of Hieronymus Bosch or the Drolatic Dreams of Pantagruel, to less known prehistoric animals. Had a prequel from 2023 by name of Clash: Artifacts of Chaos which is a lot more vibrant in colors, has a crosshatching filter, and the protagonist is one of the weirdest Zenos in the series thus far. Lost in Random is lovely in its art direction and creatures too.
18:00 The guy who did this is named Jack Spinoza, who did a bunch of RPGMaker games, one of his series being Will you ever return? I first heard about him after seeing an Azuritereaction vid on the sequel: Will you ever return? In da hood, starring Will Smith in a DOS-Era fever dream game
The album _Peasant_ (2017) by Richard Dawson has a very similar feel to this game and its music, if you're looking for something else to scratch that itch. It's medieval-ish sounding folk music specific to the traditions of Northern England.
I had JUST replayed Dujhanna really recently and then this just appeared on my feed on steam, cool to see they are still doing stuff but mildly terrifying.
Mab is a name I used in a bit of writing at one point. It's a traditional name for a Fae spirit, dating back to at least the Shakespearian era. Go figure, I used her as a rabbit-like character as well. Just a fun fact.
I know the game can be seen as very funny, but I find myself taking the game fairly seriously. As strange as it is, just approaching the game and it's characters with the same sincerity that they seem to have for their own world (and ditto the music too)
Heck yeah, that sincerity, willingness to approach a story in just the way it presents itself, is a heartening approach! Weird games shouldn't be enjoyd "Despite" looking or being weird, that'd imply we can only enjoy them in an ironic and perhaps cynical way. There's games out there that are strange, out there, not for everyone, or sometimes even provoke, but those that resonate with them can do so *very* strongly. I've had this with the likes of Darksiders (somewhat mild case in this example) to Cookie Cutter and Zeno Clash, and others i can't rightly think of. Can strongly recommend looking into those other games i mentioned, too. Zeno Clash had a prequel in 2023 by name of Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Cookie Cutter at first glance may come across like it's being edgy or immature for the sake of it, owing to various visual and verbal dirty jokes but for as much as there can be dirty humor, the game doesn't go out of its way to point out its own weirdness or turn the story into a joke. Protagonist got mangled and beaten to near death, her lover got kidnapped, a friend helped her back on her feet, and now she's out for revenge and to save her loved one. It plays this plot serious. Some characters react to the protagonists body-integrated companion in appropriate ways, but they don't linger on it and discuss other story developments or subjects just fine. Hope this got you interested! And keep on going with that approach that you describe-- like i said, it's very heartening.
Come back to it later. It is pretty enjoyable to watch and just in general interesting. There is a ton of games all coming out the same month, I feel you Vin
that twist was great, i love how this story defied the standard puritanical fairytale blueprint it was going for for a bit lol. please play more of this, it has so much charm
Musicologists think it began life as a traditional English folk song, so it's not far off. It was brought over to America by English and Scots-Irish immigrants in the 1800's.
Took me a bit to get used to the art style but once I did, yeah, this game looks incredibly pretty. It's nice to see something completely different once in a while.
Dang I'm lowkey in awe, from the demo I thought it would just rely on its aesthetic, be sub par and otherwise be a "haha funy gaem" (it still is, and even its jank feels nice?) but it's more than that? Kind of is poetic and the humour keeps on going? I would watch more for sure, I appreciate a lot the way it's "out there" like that
i've thought about this gam a lot the past few months. i remember seeing someone else stream this and thinking this is such a sundaycore game. honestly it's a shame it's a prerecord. i would've loved to watch you stream this and see chat's reaction to all the weirdness and charm this game has.
Can recommend looking into Clash: Artifacts of Chaos as well for other colorful strangeness in a genuine world full of freaks, monsters and awesome atmosphere and music.
Really, as cool as the art design is, the closer comparison to this game would be the witcher, with the heavy folkloric influence, tongue in Cheek attitude towards fairy tales, and stoic warrior protagonist. The vibes in this whole game are immaculate and I'm definitely giving this a shot myself whether of Vinny picks it up for future playthroughs or not
I picked this up after watching Vinny play it, and I desperately hope he continues playing. I barely got past where he stopped and there are so many weird, funny, and surprising things. I'm really loving it. I'm also sad that he missed the spell "Ronald Reagan's water gun" at that salt circle in the first area.
i recently walked 500 miles from scotland to germany to be with my girlfriend. thank you for uploading this, i no longer feel homesick watching this undoctored footage of my beautiful bonnie homeland
I think I can safely say that there is no other game that LOOKS anything like this. Maybe kind of like Hylics but that’s a stretch. I have to give it to the devs to have the courage to see this project to its completion like this, it’s oozing with charm.
mab barely was there for more than 6 minutes and i was already attached and crying
I miss Mab
):
I slammed the desk, screaming, tears flowing down my face
I was about to say, 'My heart bleeds' HOW AM I CRYING SEVEN MINUTES IN
You can feel that there is heart in this game.
A big beautiful Scottish one.
soul even
trve Scottish sovl...
Big fan of this game's dialogue. It's like everyone talks like they're in a great Scottish fable. Combined with the stop-motion aesthetic it really sells the folktale angle this game's going for.
It makes me think of some old children's programming which I would see on TV as a kid sometimes.
The pitched voices makes me think of Gumby.
the combination of stopmo and folk music is doing something to me man
This feels like progressive rock but in game form
and just like prog rock it's awful once after 5 mins when the novelty wears off
why does this make perfect sense
a vibe reminiscent of early Genesis for sure
@@Navili502 A bit Mike Oldfield too.
yeah amazing :D
I always love when Vinny plays something from another timeline
Mab is precious and must be protected.
I love Mab sm 🥺
can't this meme just die already?
What's the issue bud
Few know this, but this game is a rather accurate representation of traditional Scottish folklore
Few know this, but this game is a rather accurate representation of Scotland
Fae know this, but this game is a eather accurate representation of traditional Scotland folklore
Ah, my favorite Nerverner album: In Judero
You win
As a stop motion animator myself, I had aspirations to make a stop motion game someday but didn’t know if it was possible. Seeing this, I am encouraged to pursue that dream.
You know what I want? A stop motion animation game that looks like those old lego stop motion animation videos I used to watch in 2008. It needs to happen.
@@l-l Lego would absolutely sue unless it was made by them, but you’re so right! That would be very cool

BULKY your finger family submissions for mike are godtier, you should 100% give it a shot
Lego tower defence where you create your own turrets 🤑
This is basically Scottish Hylics
Baby Joel voiceacting
It's uncanny how Vinny doppelgangers keep showing up in these games. This time, his likeness modeled exquisitely in the Surprised Man.
god this game has such an amazing soundtrack
This is the kind of game you can never experience again. It's just so... Judero and I 'aven't another way to describe it. The entire section with Mab and the townsfolk after convinced me to go through this myself
This reeks of Prometheus and Bob mixed with neverhood
I was thinking the same with Action League Now.
As soon as you said Prometheus and Bob I went through a wormhole of memories. Good times 😢❤
the neverhood-like genre needs to grow
I knew the style looked familiar to me for some reason
why did you have to remind me of that, that minishow was so eery looking
Haggis as an enemy is so silly, but I love it haha
I'm only 3 minutes in as of posting this comment, and I'm loving this. It's so weird, yet so incredibly endearing. The fact it's stop motion alone is impressive enough, but to roll with such a strange, unrefined art style like this? All I can say is Hell Yeah.

@@jurtheorc8117 I've had my eye on that series for a while now. Really looking forward to when I get around to playing it, really unique looking.
At 34:26, I love how you can hear “Hurry it up, Judero” in the music.
Actually really good music in this lol
The enemy introductions are so cool
This is actually a masterpiece
I hope you return to this, Vinny. Its absurdity and thought-provoking nature vibes well.
This is a true love child of Neverhood and Dink Smallwood. Amazing atmosphere, style and soundtrack, and the voice actors are peak.

These bizarre gems are always a treat to watch, would love to see more adventures of Judero

thank you, it's great.
This is one of those things I wish I forget I ever watched, just so I could rewatch it anew.
I had JUST replayed Dujhanna really recently and then this just appeared on my feed on steam, cool to see they are still doing stuff but mildly terrifying.
OOOH IT'S FROM THAT DEV! I love the Dujhanna OST!
I love the art style in this game so much.
As a scottish person I can tell you, we are able to possess the minds of lesser beings.
Games like this are why I love videogames
Thank Scottish You're Here!
Clay-like
I, the chat, the offline chat, enjoy this and would love to see more.
damn.. the soundtrack is such a banger 🔥

Just a fun fact.
I'm used to seeing it assigned to the queen of the unseelie court. =)
It’s kind of genius to introduce running right before you have to say goodbye to Mab, like your time has been cut short 😢

We're getting used to seeing more Scots in games to the point where I no longer need the subtitles to understand them.
These are extremely subdued Scottish accents. Listen to two Scotsmen chatting shit, survival not guaranteed.
RIP benny harvey. miss you big man. gone but not forgotten.
I completely adore this artistic choice
If anything at all happens to Mab I'll never recover
This is very Into the Neverhood Hylics Limmy Nixon's Nostrils Noises core
I know exactly what you mean by “neverhood and hylics”core but I have no idea how to describe it
I love how they could have gotten their character designs from the Oblivion Abominations subreddit
10:20 "I think this is delightful, I said that already but I'll say it again."
* elaborates in duck * 🦆
The visuals in this remind me of a lot of thecatamite's work, particularly the use of clay and paper figures
I hope the next Red Vox album is Scottish Folk music.
this is really art tbh, the music as well is amazing, abt 30mins in a I HAD to go buy the OST from their bandcamp, only £12 worth it
Come back to it later. It is pretty enjoyable to watch and just in general interesting. There is a ton of games all coming out the same month, I feel you Vin

The artistic vision is absolutely off the charts. I'm dumbfounded.
The upcoming The Midnight Walk is another game that uses stopmotion like Judero, but in a very different style. Looks to be very unique.
I was enraptured by this, a real first monitor video lol. I'm really hoping you'll continue with it.
15 seconds in and i already love it.
Wow the music is really nice
13:55 you can hear the spit in the voice actor’s throat as he says ‘gh’ in Tighearna
i genuinely love this shit oh man
Took me a bit to get used to the art style but once I did, yeah, this game looks incredibly pretty. It's nice to see something completely different once in a while.
This is magic, and it's clear that a lot of love was put into it.

This game is so endearing... What.... what's happening to me? Am I...appreciating artistic expression more?
This is my kind of whimsical adventure, the game is just chef's kiss. Also holy shit JACK KING-SPOONER? Brb gonna buy soundtrack nau.

This game is really cozy and relaxing, even with all the combat that happens. Glad you're playing it
This entire soundtrack is crazy-good. It's going in my rotation
The music in this game keeps reminding me of the more chill parts of Silent Hill songs. The very relaxed notes, simple tired melodies. Its great.
I really wish I could see Vinny's hat photoshopped on the surprised man in the thumbnail, it would be so beautiful.
Judero is exactly what I'm talking about when I say indie games are like collage. This game is beautiful.
'Computer, make the most Scottish game ever'

You best be playing more of this Vincent
Vinny may be Italian. But we all know that prior to the previous transmigration of his soul (as revealed by druidic insight) he was a Scotsman.
Unique and really enjoy the Scottish folk music choices for the soundtrack
Love the Poet at the end who's even more uncomprehensibly scottish than the rest
music is smashin.
i get some kind of hylics 2 vibes from this... its brilliant
7:46 Vinny, that's The Animals, House of the Rising Son.
I would love if we got more parts to this.
22:15 finally the coughing baby able to surpass nuclear bomb
This really looks good I may have to pick this up.
I'm only halfway through, so maybe the game wraps up by the end of this video, but I hope Vinny plays more of this. Seems really quirky and funny
Vinny please play more of this
hey, Vinyot also became entranced by Judero's Errant and Wild Nature.

What a gem of a game
I was thinking "Dink Smallwood" right when he entered the piney area.
Haggis became extinct due to overhunting
Wonderful game thank you Binjyaprt for video
Please play it in full playthrough Vin!
