You've probably never heard of this Star Wars store display from 1983 (Italian Jabba's Palace)

- In this video I outline a very obscure store display used for vintage Kenner Jabba's Palace figures in Italy in 1983, and review a modern recreation of it.
Here is Laureen Topalian's Etsy shop [but I think all of these displays have sold out since I published the video] (Use the code JABBA15 for 15% off of the display or the original art used to create it): www.etsy.com/l...

This woman clearly has a special passion for this display, for Star Wars and vintage figures. She's obviously went to great lengths to reproduce this. Simply amazing.
I love that Friar Tuck figure you have back there. 😆
I was waiting for someone to notice that. :D
@@MightyJabbasCollection Friar Tuck figure was actually made from a Gamorrean Guard body with another head and painted differently
I’m aware 😀
@@MightyJabbasCollection I was about to comment and came to the comments section to see if anyone else noticed LOL
The artist should make a rancor pit display with the same water color motifs to place on a display shelf under this piece for the vintage Rancor. Great video!
That would look so cool!!
It looks fantastic with all the figures displayed in. I can remember answering that UK Rancor Keeper figure offer you featured in this video. Both me and my older brother sent away for our free Rancor Keeper, I remember my brother got his but mine never turned up in the mail, some 37 years later I'm still waiting haha, was one of those big disappointments in my childhood.
Pretty cool. Jabba’s palace on mushroom night!
The watercolor look is really cool and compliments the mustard yellow Kenner jabba really well
This would look cool to display the Ralph McQuarrie style figures and the comic book style painted figures on
When i think one day he will not find any new stuff for a video boom here it is love your dedication man.
I wish the real palace looked like this, is so unique and dream like, love it
Interesting - Star Wars has become so big that super niche bootleg explicitly limited merch is a thing - cool vid!
I remember looking at this a few years ago when it was being released. It was priced around the AU$700 mark. Glad you picked one up! Looks very nice
Looks great! Enjoy it! Greetings from Spain.
Thanks for sharing, man!
yooo Italy jabba's palace!!!!
This is probably my favorite mighty jabba's video, what a nice display
Someone bought them all up on her Etsy store. I love the colors and would have bought one myself!
Yeah they sold out within a few hours of me posting this video, which surprised me
Amazing the colours make it pop. Looks great, it's a piece of Star Wars history that nit many people in the world have! Very cool!
In the new series of boba Fett and Mando looks like jabba is out of a home😄😄
That's very cool 😎👍
Looks neat. Unique watercolor style to the artwork, nice. Looks cool with all the Jabba Palace figures, thanks for showing it.
You should 3d print Kenner figures in the same colourful style to display in it
I got 2 of those Rancor Keepers. Painted one though when I was younger to look like someone else for some reason
I really like it tbh looks awesome! Tempted to get one now!
Great find, great video!
Dang well there. Is another jabbas palace. Awesome
I want one!
Nice!!!
I think this Artist might be onto something here. Think of how many toys came with printed/painted cardboard pieces that have been lost to time over the years. Some less hardcore collectors may be interested in buying recreations of these cardboard pieces for their collections. One example off the top of my head are the cardboard backdrops that came in some early Harry Potter Lego sets.
Looks great 👍
That's huge
I wonder if the original displays were hand painted, thus explaining the differences between the two...? It does look like some of the arch heights could perhaps be different too, though, so maybe not.
Also, one idea for making the Rancor Keeper sign displayable with minimal damage would be to attach a couple upside-down, angular U-shaped objects on the back of it so that they can rest on the back of the display and let the sign hang in front. Maybe just some bent paperclips or something. Sorry, that's all a little hard to describe, but I hope you get what I mean.
Anywho, fun video! A nice combo of collectible history and a modern find.
It occurred to me that they could all be hand-painted, but the link at the SWCA shows what the actual display looked like in its shipping package, and also that one is clearly a printed item. An interesting oddity for sure.
This is awesome
I have absolutely no room now or probably ever for this but it is grand. When I worked for Toys R Us, there were many displays that'd I'd wished I'd saved or took home- one was a POTF2 Death Star Display with Falcon & Tie Fighter in a foam core Docking Bay. 😢 Probably, trashed.
So much of that kind of thing has been lost. Sad, but probably unavoidable
Jabba's gone funk!
SWEET!
I member that!
I really like it. Cool turning the Palace into a 60's disco.
Awesome
Would've been hilarious if you had hidden a Wampa in the blank area behind the display! "Wampa Want to be in Display! Wampa!"
Who is the mysterious Angelica Brady ?!?!
You need to include a Wampa in your display 😁
I totally would have. But I actually don’t own a vintage wampa anymore! I think I need to correct that
0:58 Does anyone notice that Jabbas throne is missing its front 2 gargoyles?
Yeah I did notice that. Not sure why
Jabba probably had different themes based on the time of year
Its a pain saying an opinion like mine without sounding like a prick but I believe something around the 40, 50 bux is a realistic price taking in account the amount of cardboard and printing cost but it's still something modern you can endlessly print and it's more of a quirky custom craft copying something that somebody else created years ago.
Well the thing is the target audience is so small that it’s actually quite expensive to produce something like this
You should put Luke behind there like he is planning to sneak in
gangsta jabba
italian jabba
Hey…. Where’s your Han in carbonite figure? 😁
Yeah I forgot him
Mama Mia-
Is it the same length of the Sail Barge?
More or less, yes
@@MightyJabbasCollection Damn, you're gonna have to build a whole extension of the house soon
While the box and final product are great $500 is hilariously overpriced and $170 is still too much. Like it's mentioned in the video this is a niche product but damn this is paper and cardboard.
Ten grand for cardboard? Wow
It might actually have been more like $20K but I couldn't find a definite amount. Either way, it's way out of my reach!
@@MightyJabbasCollection I can’t imagine for rich you would Have to be to justify that 😀cool tho !
It's cool. Too big.
You could make a fake one
$500... for printed cardboard 🤣
You should have 3D printed yourself and painted it.
3D print a cardboard display? I am working on a 3D printed palace environment though
@@MightyJabbasCollection well obviously not cardboard.......lolz
It is a funky set tho in a good way.
