- The Star Wars Vintage Playset for Jabba the Hutt is one of the iconic toys of the 80's. This week we review the vintage playset made in 1983 from Kenner. We go over the history of that toy, its place in Star Wars, and examine how I got mine, and for how much. Let's go!

Watch Episode 1 to find out how I set my playset run up! ua-cam.com/video/ZBW9ElvNQZU/v-deo.html
Wow Joe that is such a generous contribution to the community.
Also I feel it is a playset but since Jabba is such an iconic and important character in the Star Wars lore I understand how people can rate this as a figure.
Hey Emperor! I agree, that is amazing of him! Thanks for watching, my friend
Congrats 👏 on having the 1983 Jabba the Hutt throne playset, I was one who used my mums Mc Cormic food paint (green) to use in the throne, my favorite one, besides the Jawa Droid factory and the creatures cantina, today I have various Jabbas and I done the Throne out of PVC, but always this will be my favorite
Hey Jorge! Wow you have some of the classic playsets! That’s awesome! Thanks for watching my friend
Wow. Go Joe!!! That’s exactly why I love this community. Cheers
Joe is pretty awesome for doing this! I hope the accessories go to someone in the community who needs these :)
A true must have for the vintage collection because it is a figure. Very nice set. Troy
Thanks Troy! And thanks for watching my friend
I had NO idea there was a squishy head Jabba! NONE!
That blows me away, honestly.
That's one more reason I need to start collecting Lili Ledy SW figures.
There are certain sculpts I prefer from Lili Ledy, but now THIS!
Your Jabba looks great.
That's not too much at all.
All I need for mine is the dais and the arm rest (w/ the bowl).
Coincidently, I was sorting my figures when this episode came on. :)
Great episode. I love the show. :)
Thanks for the video
Hey T! It’s great to sort the figures on a Sunday! Great time! And thanks for watching this while you sort :).
Awesome video on jabba the hutt playset awesome video has always keep collecting and may the force be with you all star wars fans the force is strong with this one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻that's a good playset
Thanks Mark! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! May the force be with you my friend! Thanks for watching
You do a good job with these videos... far better than the average guy-surrounded-by-shelves-of-toys videos. I have this Jabba in-box, sealed, in storage. I bought it at the tail end of my Star Wars collecting back in maybe 1986, on clearance. I'm going to dig it out now, and get that acrylic box to put it in! I think I didn't open it because by that point, I wasn't actually playing with Star Wars anymore, but I still wanted Star Wars stuff. But it was disappearing from shelves, forever. Sad times. Although there are a few things I'd like to get now that I never had back in the day, I have no room for it as my original collection, in storage, takes a lot of room already. And I have no room to display anything. But I do enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!
Thanks Randy! Yea with the new space I have now, I have to reorganize shelves as it’s limited space, but I will make it so I can show all of my collection soon. Thanks for taking the time to watch and write!
Very cool playset Joey! I really like that Jabba figure. By the time ROTJ came out, I felt like I was too old to collect anymore so I got very few things from that movie. Picking them up now every so often since I realized you are never too old to collect!
Hey bill! Yea I think this was the last “big” item I got from the Star Wars toys. After this I was more into transformers and Voltron. But this was my favorite besides my x-wing and my scout Walker :). Thanks for watching my friend and leaving a comment!
that was awesome of joe r to do that. looking forward to the giveaway, bro.
Hey Joe! Yes I hope those items go to people who really need them :). Thanks for watching my friend
I had to check the country of origin on the bottom of my Jabba. No.2 is mine. Lots of info you gave us for the Jabba collector, especially that Lili Ledy box art WOW. Great Video once again!
Thanks Mike! I’m glad you found the episode useful :). Thanks for watching!
I still have my Jabba that I got at a Best store for only $5.00 in 1984. The actor who played Logray the Ewok Medicine Man was small enough to fit in the tail to make it move.
Hey Richard! Didn’t know it was the same actor that played Logray! That’s awesome trivia bro :). Thanks for that and for watching
Great video! Picked mine up loose last year. The shop thought it was missing Salacious but had them in original bags so I bought one. All in $85. I got it home and set it up and inside the throne was a bagged salacious crumb! There was also a catalog and the pipe parts bagged. A really great example I’m glad I picked up when I did as the prices on everything vintage started going up as news of the economy was headed down. Awesome info! Have a great one!
Wow you got a great one! I love getting items with sealed baggies :). Thanks for watching and taking the time to write, Cool :).
Really enjoying these Joey. You are teaching me new things every episode. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Phil! I’m glad you are enjoying them :). Thanks for watching and commenting
Awesome video! Mighty Jabba's Collection is an interesting, funny channel. Good call not to open those polybags on your new set! 275 is a good deal for an unassembled set. I think it's a cool way to have a playset, unassembled like that because it's like it's when you first got it on Christmas morning.
Hey Jart! Yea I’m glad I had a loose version to show All the parts. I think I’d like to at least borrow a Playset if I get another Playset in baggies. Thanks for watching my friend
Another great video, with so much information. Keep up the great work !!!!
Thanks Alvin! And thank you for your support brother :). Thanks for watching
Great video and thanks for all the included info.
Thanks Dee! And thanks for taking the time to watch and comment :).
my parents were really impressed by Jabba. the original is ao convincing he steals the movie every time he's on-screen
The guy playing Jabba in the deleted scene was an Irish actor called Declan Mulholland, and among other roles on British TV also played 'the Hunchback' in a cheap little British fantasy flick called 'Hawk the Slayer'.
Also, in the Marvel comics adaptation, he was portrayed as a sort of Walrus head/Yak face Alien in an Imperial officers uniform.
I've got the European bi logo version and the tail on Salacious is not movable and appears to be permanently glued in, it came that way when I bought it on its release and may be a variant, I'm not sure!
Great video, Joey! And Jabba's definitely not a creature despite his behaviour, he's a speaking, thinking being. Just a nasty one...
Thanks for the extra info Acro! And thanks for watching my friend!
This one set I'm looking to add to my collection one day to go with my vintage Rancor.
Hey Bluckers! The good thing is that there are so many of these out there for great prices :). Thanks for watching my friend
Great content. I started my journey around the same time you did. I’ve learned so much from your videos. Keep up the great work. Happy New Years.
Hey Rob! That’s cool that we started around the same time. It’s been fun this past year so I’m honored that you have been watching while on your own journey. And thanks for taking the time to commment as well
Excellent !
Thank you clobber! And thanks for watching :)
Wow all this info ive just learnt something new thankyou.i just bought a loose jabba from darkside alliance and love it.
Hey Squelchy! Congratulations on your new Jabba!!! And I’m glad you are enjoying the videos :). Thanks for watching!
As a kid, I think this was my most used set piece for playing with my figures.
Kenner Star Wars always did a good job at blurring the lines between two different parts of their lines. Even the vehicles. The Falcon and AT-AT were so big they could easily be playsets in their own right. In fact you could argue that they were more playsets than vehicles. So I’m not going to hold someone to calling Jabba a playset if they want to consider it a creature.
Also, good luck to everyone on whatever is set up for a giveaway!
Thanks for being so RAD Joe and offering us amazing items!!! That is so generous of you and can’t wait to give these away to people who need em! Thanks Joe!
It's a playset. theoretically you can trap multiple figures under Jabba . plus it includes two figures Jabba and Salacious crumb
Nice vid. It’s a play set. I always wanted this set as a kid. My cousin had it.
Hey Enew! Yea, it’s def a Playset :). Thanks for watching my friend!
Awesome as usual Joey ..... already looking forward to 'Season 3 ... Ships and Vehicles'. Your content is the best by far. 👊
Hey Tone! I’m glad you are digging the content and I can’t wait for the ships and vehicles run too! Thanks for watching!
Great add for your collection Joey ! I want one !!! Keep in the box and baggies . I have only a salacious graded 90 in baggieof the playset.
Hey Pascal! Congrats on the 90 grade! And thanks for watching :)
Awesome. Love it. Jabba set … it’s a playset. heheh
Hey John! Yup! Playset! Write it down!!! Haha! Thanks for watching brother!
You got a very good looking set! Nice find.
Thanks John! And thanks for commenting and watching :)
There is no doubt this is a playset. The Tauntaun, Dewback and Wampa are creatures. But Jabba comes with his throne which is an integral part of his palace. Plus the interactivity of the throne. This is definitely a playset. I customised my setup. My Squid face has a custom black cape to match the one displayed on the box. I'm also trying to find some 3D printed pillows for the throne. Jabba is such a lazy slob I think the pillows are a necessity for this set .
Hey Silver! I’ve never thought about 3D printed pillows! That’s a great idea! Thanks for watching and the suggestions!
Catching up on the last 2 videos. This is my favorite playset as the Imperial Shuttle, is my favorite vehicle. Greta video. Now, on the your next one
Hey Lera! You have good taste my friend. I can’t wait to start hunting for the imperial shuttle! Thanks for watching the video
@@thepadawancollectorofficial I have my shuttle from childhood. It's complete. Gorgeous ship!
I have a good Jabba, the thone with the string, the crumb (still bagged), and the bowl with stand (still bagged), but no box. I had wished they did a throne room back then.
Hey Daniel! Yea I wish a proper throne room was offered. That would have been an instant classic. Thanks for watching my friend
Very generous Joe R!
Hey GForce! Yes Joe was very generous in that gift for you guys. Can’t wait to give them away soon :).
Hey great video Joey! I think you got a good price at 275 based on the fact the throne stand is still bagged alone. Its rare that's sealed in a baggie. Also the box is in VERY good condition, plus original inserts and instructions and catalogue. Plus that is an awesome giveaway, what a legend that guy is for donating those rare accessories!
Hey Kev! Yea thanks! At first I didn’t know I got a good deal, so that’s for making me feel better haha! Joe is awesome and I hope those accessories go to someone who really needs then
Great pick up! Looks fabulous! A set I do not have unfortunately 😢
Thanks BOE! You will have this set one day :).
Great video on this "playset" bro!
Thanks Wookie!
I bought this from a collector in 1992-1 for around $25 and sold my collection a few years later and bought a car with the money.
Hey Alpha! Wow that’s amazing! That’s cool you were able to buy a car from the proceeds
I used to have this play set, strangely the only part I have left is salacious Crumb.
Hey Simon! The only part I have from my original is Jabba and I have no idea where the rest went???
Joey, the detail in this video with full history of the character, film design, and figure design plus the list of variants shows exactly why I am addicted to your channel. So much that I finally subscribed. When you do the cloud city playset if you want to borrow my opened set let me know. I really need many of those weapons in your give away. How do we enter.
Hey Kris! I think I answered your question on FB or IG :). Thanks for watching my friend
This one I always wish I had collected, but allowance money was quite limited in those days....
Hey Timothy! Yea that much money would have been hard for me to gather up for sure back then. Thanks for watching my friend!
I'd say that's a pretty awesome price.
Thanks Damon! At the time this was the best price that I had found for play-sets in this condition :). Thanks for watching!
I loved Jabba in the movie, but for some reason, I wasn't impressed with the action figure. I did like Salicious Crumb's figure though and wouldn't mind finding one of those loose. Great info here. Stuff that even I didn't know about Jabba. Great video!
Thanks John! I’m glad that I could give you some extra info :). Thanks for watching my friend
@@thepadawancollectorofficial I'm one of those people who researches stuff just for fun, even if I don't need it for an article or task at work. I love learning.
There is no doubt in my mind that this Jabba set is indeed a Playset. While Jabba is a character, I would never call him a creature, especially to his face. 🤣
This is by far one of my all-time favorites too. It was often the centerpiece or backdrop to many SW play sessions. You just can't go wrong, it's awesome!
Although I've had a loose set since childhood, I was so happy to finally find my complete mint in-box version with inserts/baggies about a year ago. It's one I treasure for sure & it looks great in acrylic too (as you are aware).
So, do you think all the sealed in baggie Salacious Crumb figures & pipe/bowl sets on the internet are legit? I've always wondered because there are just so many out there still.
I think you got a great deal on yours Joey. $200-300 with a nice box is right on target. The higher end with some sealed components.
As always, I love the amount of detail you put in your videos & all the research you present. It's great to have a video to reference if needed. Can't wait till the next episode.
Oh, also... Give Away you say? Hahaha. Great stuff you had donated by Joe - can't wait for a chance to win!! [Thanks to Joe!!]
Hey Mopar! Yes those baggies are very legit. There are an extreme abundance of those floating around for cheap prices. If someone wanted to reproduce them, they could, but those items aren’t very sought after so there reallly is no money to be made by reproducing those items. Thanks for watching my friend!
I think the Crumb and hookah baggies are a product of overstock but that’s just my guess
Jabba is one of the best vintage star wars figures/playsets. I hated the lack of articulation in the original line...but this Jabba had some amazing extras. the tail especially. It does create a great diorama situation. I have 7 gamorrean guards around my display. Thanks for the update. I'm still searching for a stand/armrest for my display. Any ideas?
Hey! Do you have the same display that I do? If so did you research the industrial clothing rack? You can use that to build a hang mechanism for your case. I hope that’s what you meant???? Thanks for watching
Great condition Jabba play set! Most impressive! I have still got mine from childhood but I did buy a replica box and insert for it. Best wishes from the uk joey!
Hey Andrew! Thanks for watching :). I’ll be in the UK this year a lot so hopefully I can do some Palitoy hunting while I’m there!
A great Christmas for us all that year!! Do you collect loose graded figs etc?
Hey Kenobi! Yes I collect all of the above. I have other series on my channel where I go through how I collected them. Thanks for watching this series!
Hey wassup how's it going.I have Jabba the Hutt but is power of the force & it comes with Han Solo.
Hey Georgie! The POTF Jabba is one of my favorites! love the way they made it look Like the special edition releases :). Thank you for watching the video my friend!
What other character had a moving trapdoor? It is no discussion, of course it is a playset. LOL
Hey Krav! I agree, it’s a Playset :). Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Yup I purchased it in 1983 for 20 dollars toy's r us
Wow!!! Do you still have it??? Thanks for watching Wade!
Uhhhhh,,,, I have been hunting for that imperial gun for few year now ,it has go e wild the prices , I’ll cross my fingers to see if I’ll get it ….
Hey Carlos! Yes I hope you can find one soon! Thanks for watching my friend
What’s with all the jump cuts? Is this guy a famous skater?
Hey TLC! You can always address me directly, I always answer these directly. I used to skate, but far from famous :). Thanks for watching my friend
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Respect! Rank ‘em: Ewoks, Dagobah, and Jabba Playset?
I'll tell you why there are so many broken Jabba arms . . .
INSTRUCTION SHEET: "If during play, one of JABBA'S arms comes off, snap it back on as shown."
KID: Jabba's arms come off . . . ?
KID: [Pulls on Jabba's arm]
JABBA'S ARM: [SNAPS]
KID: @*☠%💔#!!!
Hey Beedo! Haha this is great! Thanks for watching
Why do you say "Baggied" and not "bagged"? Is that a SW collector thing? :D
Hey Krav! I guess I say it that way “baggies” because that’s what most Star Wars vintage collectors call it. But you can use bagged as well. There is no rule book, it’s just a common nomenclature that most collectors use to identify that. Thanks for watching my friend!
Nice vid dood, definitely a playset, even says it on the box!!! Much love from 🇬🇧
Hey Jester! Yea I was surprised to see so many collectors not have it in their Playset category! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment my friend
i want this set ! 🥲😭
Hey E! This is one of the easiest to get and the most affordable in this condition compared to other sets. They are definitely out there. Thanks for watching my friend
I got the Jabba the Hut set for 1983 Christmas too👍Loved it! I would categorize this as a playset too. If he was just sold by himself like the Wampa, then yes a creature. My set now is just like your's, not sealed, but fully completed with all contents. Which you can still get qualified AFA graded. I think is better because they grade the toy and the box.
Hey Scott, yes I agree, I would prefer to collect my playsets like this because you can see how these were packaged up :). I’ll try to get more like this. Thanks for watching my friend
Nice
Thanks for watching David!
