Trout do not bite at night from my experience. I fished Tampa to Alabama and my favorite area was the grass flats in Weeki Wachee. Plenty of gators with all the rivers pouring into the gulf... super shallow; so it is different fishing. Mainly redfish, snook, some trout, jacks and cobia. I got things to a science with Weeki Wachee such low tides and less fish you fish less and hunt them more. Kayak and grass flats, island points and currents were key. ALso the right bait for the season was the BIGGEST KICKER! Learn the bait of the area. The big hit you had was slow, that was nothing interesting most likely a big fat slow catfish. Snook or redfish will spool you out fast; the lighter tackle the better to feel it and make it a fight. I would say switch to circle hooks and let the fish catch themselves. J hooks are old tech bro!
@@thatskrazy8145 Circle hooks for sure work that's what I used in this video, it's a Bama saltwater pomp rig. I'm thinking something with teeth bit me off. Great comment. Lots of good info!
