- Toyota RAV4 Long Term Review (Watch Before Buying)
If you’re in the market for a new or used Toyota Rav4, you’ll want to watch this video. Toyota Rav4’s can be excellent low maintenance vehicles that are economical and reasonably priced. They’re a well rounded vehicle that balances each aspect perfectly. They’ve historically been fantastic cars that run for a very long time with few issues but are these newer generations just as well made? - Авто та транспорт
2020 3.5 yrs old 50,000 miles not a single issue. Has had no recalls. Going strong!! Love it. ❤️
One thing people don’t know (and this is in the book) is that if you want these to last forever (20 years plus) you need to do 5000 miles oil and filter changes. The 10000 miles changes are only if you do 90 percent of your driving on the interstate or freeway. It’s in the book, it explains that if your in stop and go traffic or acceleration intervals are often, then you have to half the oil change intervals. The description describes driving in town as just such an occasion. Also there are several mechanics and ex- Toyota master technicians that are doing videos on this subject. Go the the car care nut UA-cam channel for a prime example.
Well done video I Just purchased a 2024 a few days ago. The only thing I disagree with is entry and exit is not as easy as my wife’s forester wilderness.
Have a good one from west Tennessee.
THANK YOU so much...I have been LOOKING for this-- an HONEST long term review... excellent info- complete information too.. I was considering a mazda CX-50- but these look fun- and there are mods you can do to them for run... AND they offer them in the beautiful blue I wanted that is NOT available on the Mazda... I think I'll go drive one tomorrow.. THANKS AGAIN ..
A good idea is to not follow Toyota's 10.000 mile oil change intervals . Better to change it more often to further the reliability
Every 5,00 oil change
I change every 200 miles
5,000 max.
No thanks boomer. I'll go with the people who designed the engine and have to do warranty work on it.
@@morganghettiand never change the transmission oil too right? “Lifetime fluid”🤣
Great job on the video, thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
I just bought a 2024 RAV4 XLE this weekend. Traded an older Subaru Forester which turned out to begin to have expensive repairs as it aged - very expensive (A/C, CV axles CVT issues)! I wanted something with as simple of a design as is possible these days so i did a TON of research and drove everything in the class - CRV, CX-5, CX-50, etc. The RAV4 seemed to have a long history of good reliability with the tried and true 4 cylinder design that's been around for many years. It drives very smoothly and the 8-speed transmission is buttery smooth. I got the black cloth interior with white exterior since white paint usually holds up well and the black cloth won't show dirt easily. I am going to retire in about 3 years so I will have this vehicle long paid off by then and the vehicle should take me well into retirement years with little trouble or expensive repairs. I take meticulous care of my vehicles so hope this one give me many years of trouble free driving. This was a great review, thank you!!
Do you have any problems with your sunroof leaking
@@joyfrizzell1363 no, not so far
Nice video. Thanks! Nice driving tour of Bonita Springs / North Naples. :) Beautiful area.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😎🌴
I love my 2019 Rav4 Adventure! Bought it new and it's paid off with now just under 30k miles. I do the maintenance myself and plan to hang on to it for at least 10 years.
What trim do you have?
We just bought our first ever RAV4, a used 2016 Limited model with 44k miles. It is a peppy little car and we’ve been very pleased with it so far. 😊
Nice 👍 Make sure to follow the maintenance manual
@@chrisdrives8204What maintenance manual? Toyota never provides maintenance manuals with its cars.
What was the selling price (without taxes and fees)
@@bella3008 we bought it for $24,000. I think we talked it down a little but I don’t remember what the asking price was, it wasn’t much more though.
First thing i would do is get rid of that auto/start/stop garbage with a delete kit.
Yeah that shit is a battery killer
What's about the engine noise over 80mph?? It's a disaster for RAV4
In the UK every time your Toyota is serviced by Toyota, you get a 12 month warranty.
Up to 10 yrs or 100,000 miles
The most 'bang-4-the-buck' trim is the Toyota RAV4 XLE Hybrid, with no extra packages.
why's that?
Hybrid is a terrible choice!
Hybrid can be a good choice if you do a lot of city driving, but if not, it's probably best to get the regular motor. The regular motor can go for over 300,000 miles where the hybrid is less likely to do that, and once it goes out, it will be more practical to buy a new car than it would be to fix the old one.
The problem with the Hybrid is the high voltage cable that corrodes and cost over 4,000
Right, who would want better fuel mileage@@parker2969
I just want to know where he’s driving that there’s so little traffic. Must be nice 😂 I have a ‘21 hybrid and love it to death. Still running like I drove her off the lot yesterday
😂 It's not usually like that
Nice car. The jury is still out on these new Rav4 s especially with this new engine and transmission! We'll see long term in a couple more years to see if the engines burn oil, EGR failures or any other long term issues! The only thing I hate about these new engines is that they use a lot of plastic parts which are known to break with heat exposure after years of use. Time will tell...
This engine and trans has been out since 2017 and no real issues reported, so I'd say they're fairly proven.
Most new cars will look and act great after just 3 years of ownership. I own a hybrid KIA Niro from 2020 and there is no visible wear and tear aside from leather seeat part creases - I don't take care of it at all, so that's on me. I've used my car to stuff it with items to the max - 1.8m wooden sunbed, 1.8x2.0m rolled up matress, a lot of building tools and house insulation (styrofoam mostly). Plastic discoloring in a Toyota sounds a little concerning.
My honest opinion is that Rav4 compromise on interior quality. Cheap plastic covers great part. Yes noise is another concern.
I just threw some ekr custom seat covers front and rear, comes with center console cover as well. Wrapped the steering wheel with a sewn leather cover and it looks amazing went from basic rav4 interior to luxurious feel also have the all weather floor and trunk mats they are a must to keep the interior super clean
I just bought a 2022 RAV4 LE AWD with 35k miles
I hope I made the right choice.
Great car 👍
2019 rav4 with 65k on it. Real nice car.
All gas run vehicles require their owners have good habits of drive if they want them last for more than 30 years or more than 30k miles with minor issues. Just start driving with 2-3 minute warming up. Never run immediately after starting it as you'll spend more money for maintenance later. Synthetic oil & engine filter change yearly will make your vehicles run smooth. Use NGK laser spark plugs and OEM Denso ignition coils will save your gas miles. All these stuffs are not expensive but help you save money in the long run. Don't be a regular customers of auto repair shops because of bad drive habits.
Just brought a 2022le rav 4. Any advice for the maintenance for this car?
Congrats! You're going to love it. Just follow the warranty and maintenance guide from Toyota...specifically the requirements for "special operating conditions"
Main one is to change the oil and filter ever 5000 miles
I found it annoying and difficult to close the door from the inside because the handle is positioned too far forward. On Reddit some people mentioned that they cut out a hole on the door armrest to remedy this issue.
I've noticed that too but no need for some people to start cutting things as I just slam the door a little harder to close it and it works out okay.
My wife and I have no problem. A lot of cars have this type of pull. At least you aren’t complaining about the seats…
Imo you get used to it
28mpg combined city& highway, is that a AWD ? or FWD?
I regularly get 30mpg around town. AWD. With a large Thule cargo box mounted on top.
pre-covid made gen-5 for the win 🏆
Yup i dont trust anything made during or after covid
What gearbox does it have? It does not sound like the CVT!
8 speed automatic
You put a picture of the RAV4 PRIME in the thumbnail. 👎
What about the RAV4 Hybrid version?
No, It’s just the no hybrid version. You can tell if it’s hybrid by checking if the emblem has blue outlines on it.
Really don't need the hybrid. I get 29 city 36 highway on my 2021.
@@sptrader6316 no way you get 36 on highway, 36 would be a small Honda Civic or Rav4 hybrid.
What does highway mean in your area? What kind of driving style? In my area it is going about 90 mph, with acceleration and deceleration to pass trucks. I would say car of Rav4 size should get about 22-26MPG on this kind of highway.
My CR-V 2.0 gets about 22 MPG on this highway. My Camry Hybrid about 39MPG (this is awesome).
Kinda click baity video. The thumbnail is a Prime and the video is about the gas version. The Prime version is so much different than its barely even comparable.
Get the Subaru outback litmted you much more car at the same price point
Air conditioning problem with this year, Toyota has no fix.
What do you mean?
@@zetwu8877 metal rattle from engine with air conditioning on low speed. Search UA-cam for the video. Dealer can’t fix
I love my Toyota but I'd change/improve some things. Compared to my Opel Insignia, RAV4's noise inside cabin is awful, there is no soundprooofing at all basically. The back wheels spewing dirt into the back door seals is also a bad thing. Otherwise love it.
Opel? For real. That Opel is a piece of crap compared to a Toyota
@@BezzantSamnewest Opels are awful but pre 2020s are built better than these kitchen appliances made by Toyota.
My 2009 Astra H has better build quality and ride quality than a 2019 RAV4 one of my family members has even with triple the mileage at 193k km.
I thought the tacoma has a 2.7 motor in it
It does this clown lies
Wtf I was just watching a Chris Invests video and then literally searched for a Rav4 review haha.
😂 Thanks for watching!!
@chrisdrives8204 your stuff's great!! Now im just wondering what elae you're doing and making videos of haha
@@iananderson8216 I appreciate it! Maybe you'll stumble across another channel 😂
2022 rav sunroof shakes horrible sounds. rear hatch refuses too open
Doors stay locked with only drivers door unlocks headlights poor high beam doesn’t doo anything windows made from cheap glass goes cloudy fast
This not true
Sounds like you bought a car that’s been involved in a prior collision?
Get a camry instead these things ride like a washing machines on wheels and are real noisy at 80 above.
Very noisy, unrefined engine. 8 speed automatic seems like a CVT. Ho hum acceleration and handling. Reliable but boring--typically Toyota.
A Lovely Sacrifice for peace of mind and not living at the repair shop lol.
