Gotta disagree with the ultra-reliability about Hybrids being less than the normal variants. The Prius is notorious for being one of, if not, the most reliable vehicle in the world, all of which are hybrids. The E-CVT used in Toyota’s hybrids have been consistently rated for higher reliability than their engine-only counterparts, especially since there are less moving parts.

One little correction. When you were talking about the CVT, you showed a picture (time 1:33) of a belted CVT. Toyota's hybrid CVT's are not belted CVT's. The are e-CVT's using planetary gears sets in conjunction with the electric motors and do not use belts.

@@mrofnocnon - there any number of UA-cam videos that describe how the Toyota hybrid transmissions work. By applying engine power on one side and electrical power from the opposite side through planetary gear sets, they can simulate a CVT quite nicely but there are no belts involved. The only thing that prompted my response was Scotty putting up a picture of a belted CVT when he was talking about the transmission and that is not what is in the car.

@@thoso1973 - totally agree, although I'm driving a Subaru Outback at the moment. ;-) I've looked at them for a very long time and was bummed when Subaru dropped the manual transmission option in 2015 but it was what it was. I've read about the Subaru CVT's having issues just like pretty much every other belted CVT but I've also read about a bunch of them in more recent times making 200k or more with no problems. It mostly depends on not abusing the car and staying on top of routine maintenance. That's true of all cars including Honda's and Toyota's so I decided to take the chance. The car is not old enough or high enough mileage yet for me to be worrying about it but I'm no hot rodder and I do intend to stay on top of the maintenance so I'll see in time. Fingers are crossed!

Hey Scotty, I have recently taken ownership of a 2022 Rav4 as well here in the UK. The car delivers amazingly low fuel consumption for a car of its size, very smooth ride, quiet most of the time and plenty of space. The funny thing is, here in the UK, they are not popular and people look down on the badge - they opt to go for many of the German brands or Land Rover!!! Yet all these competitors offer almost half the mpg, for a smaller sized car, cost more and less reliable! 😆 Glad to see that at least in the US people value real quality engineering vs. the badge on the car 😌

Acceleration is not one of its strengths, no matter the manual or automatic mode or whether the sport button is pushed. Scotty, EV mode is very useful. I use it all the time.
At Drive Up Windows. Stuck in Traffic.
My favorite use of EV Mode is when I want to either 'Warm Up' or 'Cool Down' my RAV4.
I simply start it up set it in EV Mode then make sure my A/C or my Heater is working.
I make sure the Seats are either Venting or Heating.
Or have the Wipers De-Icing and the Steering Wheel heating up.
EV Mode is great for all those things
Oh...and I also while the RAV4 is idling in EV Mode I will turn on the Sat-Radio then 'Pause it'.
Why? Because then after it has built up X-amount of pause on it I then can skip commercials or go to the next song if I want.
    Good Times!
PS: As for Mileage I will fill up then get a receipt and then do the Arithmetic.
It is more accurate then what the vehicle tells me what my mileage is.
