This is like the perfect little video.... Just the right amount of info that's easily digestible and I have a much much better understanding of the difference between the two. I'm usually skipping through videos like crazy bc there's too much info or the subject looses my interest, but this was perfect
I have been using spinning reels forever. Two years ago I took the baitcasting good old try. Definitely a learning curve, but I am enjoying the process. Fish on 🎣
Dude I've been fishing for at least 20 years now but never knew this lol. I just had that one fishing rod and reel that my dad gave me and I always thought it was just it. Gonna buy a bait casting gear and swap lines because I was using 60 pound on this one
As for beginner, this is awesome! Thinking to fish for salmon, started learning everything so this video is a gem! In this case for big salmon casting rod and reel must be a way go!
I watch a ton of video's, you are the first person that has explained the big difference between spinning rod vs bait caster. thank you so much. Question... What makes a awesome bait caster as i fish 6 hrs a day ?
Back in the day I got a sweet cork handled bait caster rod and hooked my spinning real up to it no problem. Other than some judgment from others, I say go for it. Gear can get expensive, so it's cool to use what you got. And if it works for you, then who cares what others think?
Yea Im not sure it did me any good. But did use it for a while cus that's what I had and didn't really know the difference haven't fished since I was 8 and was about a 18 year difference from then when I actually went back out. Kinda forgot bout fishing for some reason untill a youtube video one day. Deff wouldn't say there's a difference at all but I would also say I have caught fish from then on so.... Lol maybe
I use 90 pound breaking strenght braid on my spinning reel. As long as you thighten it we when you first put on the line its perfect. I have had no isasues its 0.42mm. its for big saltwater fish in norway
I love baitcasters too but I’ve went one year with out using my casting combos fishing for stripers I have to say Spinning can very well do the job a casting set up can vice versa but I feel like Spinning has an edge over Casting in terms of versatility across all types of fishing.
As a spinning guy for years , i can always through as far as coventional with a big pit reels and for power there’r alot to chose from ie rods n reels , only for extra big games in daily basis conventional is the way to go .
Yes! People will tell you otherwise, but I fish 1/2 oz baits on a MH spinning rod all of the time. I even fish heavy jigs and frogs on a Heavy spinning rod with 40-50 lb braid. I feel like all of these people saying spinning rods are only for lightweight stuff don't realize you can get strong rod blanks, high gear ratio reels with high tension, and strong braid on a spinning setup.
Definitely a casting setup. There's much less friction. This is especially true as you begin to lose line on your spinning reel. The line has to go pass the lip and through the guides which is all friction. With a casting setup it's straight from the reel, down the guides, and to the fish.
a baitcaster is not only more comfortable, accurate and has more feedback than a spinning rod but also much more fun and rewarding. baitcasters feel like the rod and reel are one piece with only the reel handle being the other because you can simply press a button to release your spool while a spinning rod feels like 3 different things being the rod, bail arm and reel handle all being awkward to use and recast once you upgarde to a baitcaster you never go back
@@jazwraps7178once you master a casting reel nothing can beat it. The way a casting setup is designed is inherently more sensitive. The rods are stiffer, the guides are smaller (which transmits vibrations better), and the line goes straight from the fish to your reel.
Never lighter than 30lb. braid on a bait caster?!? Are you serious?? I know I'm seeing this video almost 4 years after you made it but holy cow, you can't be serious. Y'all have a good day. 👍🇺🇸
My father in law just put a bait caster on a spinning rod. Medium light rod. Tried telling him but he knows more about fishing than i do apparently. Cant wait to see this mess
Who else here is power fishing on a spinning setup like it's a baitcaster? I feel like I must be in the 1% that uses spinning gear for reaction baits, jigs, frogs, topwaters, etc, etc.
@@kenneth9874 yeah that might make me change my mind a bit. I don't get much opportunity to fish deep water right now. Is the main advantage having your hand underneath the reel for better leverage?
@@synpro3 reeling anything with much resistance is much easier with a baitcaster, it takes less energy due to less friction. You've never seen a winch with a stationary drum and a bail I'll bet! Lol
@@synpro3 when pitching jigs and other things you'll also find that it's easier to make a soft entry as well after you've mastered it. I use both but for different purposes
@@kenneth9874 I've been working on mastering feathering the line as it flies off the spool to slow down the descent of the bait as it enters the water. This probably is easier using your thumb on a bait caster but not impossible with a spinning reel. I totally agree that mastering both setups is ideal so you can effectively utilize each of their advantages/disadvantages. But I am curious how far I can get with just spinning combos by learning new techniques and choosing the right gear to mitigate disadvantages.
All of these videos are very confusing or wrong, all say, when you get out to the water! What water, salt or fresh water??? There is nothing clear about this difference! But thanks for the video!

Anyone can recommend any good casting combo? Rod and reel. Ty.
Can you use a spinning reel on a baitcaster rod. Even tho the lil grip is flipped. First time i fished i did that and never realized the difference.
Other than getting judged by other fishers haha lol its not impossible. I know that but does it make a difference the way your guides face ??

A demo is worth a thousand of word
Why does the line jump off the spinning reel with heavier line?
It's because a thicker line is stiffer and the coils are most spring-like. Lighter line is typically softer so it doesn't have as much springiness.
Well said Ben what’s the name of that spinner rod I like how the grip is a lot higher than most thanks 👍
Looks like a Major Craft Nanoace. www.tacklewarehouse.com/Major_Craft_Nanoace_Spinning_Rods/descpage-MCNNAS.html

Which one is better at long range throws or does that depend on the fishing line?
I live near the long Island shore. Is a cast set up more universal for both fresh and saltwater fishing?
Looking into buying my first baitcaster but I’m worried it won’t handle some of my 1/8oz-1/4oz jigs well. What do you think?
Is 1/2 Oz small enough for a medium heavy spinner

Can I use a spinning reel in a baitcasting rod
Deymn i bought a casting rod can i still use lighter baits ??
absolutely! Just need to adjust the spool tension and practice
What is the rod and the reel on the spinning rod?
Can we pull out a 22 pound fish with spinning rod
Straight to the point. Great vid
Thank you. This video was very helpful!

Casting.
Awesome advice!
Can I use spinning reel on a casting rod
MONIR HOSSAIN You can, but it will be awkward and other anglers might make fun of you. Better to match your equipment.
I've been running my spinning rod like a baitcaster for the past week 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️well didn't I look like a googan

What do you mean🤷 he put a bait casting reel on a rod that’s for a spinning reel? How 🤷 does it wrap around the rod before going through the eyes?
thx bro
Never had a baitcasting setup?still confused
If rods were dogs:
Spincasting = Terrier
Spinning = Retriever
Baitcasting = Rotti/Pit/Bully
Trolling = St. Bernard/Boerboel
nice
Baitcasters or overheads just are not worth the hassle.
Inshore vs offshore
