    I really love these commentators. They are always rooting for all of the athletes, regardless of what country they come from.

      I agree! Unlike the US commentators, who focus mostly on their athletes and athletes from the "Big Four," these commentators show everyone possible, no matter what country they're from.

    I love the bbc commentators. They are knowledgeable and so positive with their comments. Sometimes it’s a little funny when a gymnast makes a big error and they still manage to say something nice or at least phrase the criticism in a positive way. Such a nice change from Tim Daggett gasping at every error like its the end of the world.

    Shang Chunsong comes from an extremely poor, rural background. She has supported her family with her national team stipend since the age of 10. Her brother was taken out of education in order for her to continue in gymnastics. The area and background she comes from means her diet would have been utterly lacking. She is quite obviously malnourished in youth, her head is out of proportion. Aside from the fact that Asians tend to look younger than they are, she also has early dietary deficiency working against her. That does NOT mean she is underage.

    • @chuuu4610

      There’s also the fact that she looked essentially the same age her whole career. If she WAS underaged around 12-14 like they say she was don’t they supposed she should be changing pretty drastically considering she would have been 15-17 at the olympics? It’s ridiculous the lengths people go to.

Instead we saw Tunney and Harrold. Not that we shouldn't have but Moors routine it was an historic moment. I don't get why not every programming didn't shoe her routine at least that double double straight. First time in competition.

    If Kyla can up her difficulty (if sh does it will be precise and perfect like all her gymnastics) she will move out of silver and be a gold contender!!! I think that the reason why she hasn't upgraded her routines is so she won't burn out before Rio.. I'm sure she will upgrade them closer to the olympics in order for her to be a contender because I know for sure she can upgrade them and still be as consistent as she is now. That's what I think though :)

      Jessica I agree! After watching the secret classic she's added a little but still holding back. Hopefully she will be healthy and ready for Rio. She's worked so hard since London. Now we are nearing the end of '14 most of the Fierce Five is back in the gym. I pray kula proves that hard work pays off!! I know many have made comebacks in both consecutive and skipped Olympics... But I so want to see kyla nail this and being home gold for herself.

      Anna Pavfan The comparison is power. Shawn and Simone both benefit from huge power. Simone has so many qualities we saw in Shawn. It’s not disrespectful to say that Simone, an absolutely great gymnast, brings echoes of Shawn, another absolutely great gymnast, to the floor. It’s just as how Gabby reminds me of Nastia. They’re all unique and individual, but Simone does conjure memories of Shawn, especially on beam.

    Hi guys, i have some questions hope a gymnast expert can solve me them :D
    When ending an uneven bar routine, before the dismount, the gymnasts almost always do 3 rounds before, do you get any bonus if you do less than those 3?
    I am pretty sure that amanars get deducted much less than DTYs, even with a lot of steps etc amanar always are in the 15s+ (1.3 deduction) and the DTYs even with sticks are always in the 14.8s-15.s (1.0 deduction) even if its clean, thats what i believe

    Actually, a Rudi has a similar sv with an Amanar but much higher than a DTY and it's less dangerous....so why there's not much ppl performing the Rudi in AA??

    • @kristenowen5808
      @kristenowen5808 9 років тому +2

      Sorry that this is a late comment btw, but the rudi is a much more difficult vault to compete than the DTY, because the yurchenko-entry exerts more force onto the board (and therefore incites more reactionary force up) than just jumping and relying on gravity alone, which gives the gymnast more air time to complete the twist.
      On top of that, the yurchenko vault is taught more often because it offers more "building blocks," if you will, for more difficult vaults. In other words, someone with a 1.5 of DTY has more room to improve by going up by increments of 1/2 twists, while upgrading a rudi means that you'll have to make up a new vault (side note: which Alicia Sacramone almost did!)
      TL;DR, more force on the board makes for higher vaults and more time to twist, and yurchenkos give the gymnast more of a chance to upgrade. Hope this helps!
