      +Joyce Amanda reminds me of Peggy Fleming's style of skating commentary. She always pointed out the best of what there was to see in an athlete no matter their country, and was so sympathetic if things went wrong.

    1.Mustafina's presence overall at these championships.

      Alas, she hasn't done any commentating - yet. But I've seen enough interviews of hers to know that she is a very intelligent, cogent, and - critically - articulate woman, much as Borden was (and still is), and she's a telecommunications major to boot. If that isn't a recipe for success, I don't know what is! :)

      She really was. Unfortunately, come 2016 I had a feeling she would be an alternate and not a member of the competition team. Her bars needed upgrading but her back wouldn’t allow it. Madison had the equal highest SV in the world, making her the most likely choice- and she medaled for it. Ashton might have made the event final but would not have medaled sadly. Injuries were definitely her curse.

      No one tied Raisman at the floor final in 2012. She got a crazy 15.6 which no one could even touch. Catalina Ponor came "close" with a 15.2.
      In the all-around Raisman tied with Mustafina and lost the tie-breaker. But let's be honest, when it comes to floor no one at that time could touch Aly Raisman!

    I'd rather be watching Mustafina than Biles....Mustafina has a grace and so beautiful to watch. I felt the same with Romanians too. Americans are doing amazingly difficult things but don't find them particularly entertaining to watch (apart from Liukin back then, but she has Russian origins and it is obvious when you watch her).

    • @marissakelley6639

      Yes, I guess it's very subjective what we enjoy to watch, it's normal to have different opinions. I don't mind power on bars and it's a must on vault, but personally I don't enjoy power without grace on the beam. When it comes to floor, I'm still on the fence. I think for me it's about the music as well and if I don't enjoy the music at least a tiny bit, then it's a bit ruined for me.

      +Hihi Kay Americans have no grace? that's BS. many are very gravceful. there is always the exception. but I believe most people say they are not "_graceful or artistic" because they do nnot train as ballerinas. russians do. Romanian s do. that just isn't enough any more with the COP. some ballet and dance is necessary but its clear that difficulty reigns. and balletic style doesn't equal artistry, contrary to popular belief. (I'm not saying that's your belief..,just popular). USA is a force to be reckoned with and just keeps getting stronger

    • @tackssherbo7104
      @tackssherbo7104 7 років тому

      Nicky ... I know this is a very late response, but I just noticed your comment. Sporting events are not "hard to find," because they are actually BLOCKED. It most likely has all to do with restricted broadcasting rights, broadcast contracts, lost commercial revenue and/or copyrights. To my absolute fury, my cable company dumped the three Canadian channels that I loved to watch some years ago because it got into a spitting match over commercial revenue and duplicate programming. I know events are blocked because I tried accessing Olympic events through Canada (from the American side) and was told "this is not available in your country" although I COULD access the Olympic medal tally and winners' detail through that Canadian website. Anything else was off limits to me. After these Olympics were over, a poster in another location suggested people could access sporting events by using a website called "hola(dot)org." where you could access sporting events through proxy servers in other countries. I didn't try fussing with it or trying to use it yet because the Olympics were already over, but you might want to keep this in mind for other championship events. Of course, you may well get the events in other languages.

    Question for everybody, if TF was 1 athlete on each event, without repeats what would your lineup be?? Mine would be: Skinner, Locklear, Ross, and Biles.

    • @nightswimmer99
      @nightswimmer99 8 років тому +1

      +schumi246 That would be a huge amount of pressure on each athlete, but how exciting it would be. Your lineup is spot on, same ones I would use.

      That’s insane that someone can do gymnastics at that level with the flu! Just like Simone’s kidney stone! Like this is hard enough when you feel great! But to perform at such high level when you are under the weather is really something in my opinion!

    I still- to this day- don’t understand how Ruby Harold was not on the Olympic team in 2012 but Imogen Cairns was. Ruby had much more difficulty in her program- but then again what’s to understand about a program that verbally abused Amy Tinkler into retirement after winning their only medal in 2016.
