Great video! I just picked up my first a4 that needs a head gasket, tires, and a clutch. you're videos have been very helpful in familiarizing myself with the platform, and has made me more confident in diving in to get the work done! Keep up the good videos!
Thanks! I'm glad my videos could be of help to others out there! Enjoy wrenching on your A4 and don't hesitate to reach out if anything. I'll try my best to help 👍
I hear a similar sound as your car emits at 9:00 but I change my diverter valve, it's a 1.8T 2004 Passat and it seems and I can't find anything online that really helps me. I hear almost the exact same noise when I rev the engine, and when I'm the road and I accelerate it accelerates very slow and the gas consumption goes way UP, then when I let off the gas I hear a turbo flutter... anyway do you think I could have a leak in the diverter valve or one of its connected tubes/hoses ? I had this for months now, last week I had my intercooler changed because it had a leak the size. When I changed it all my problems seemed fixed but for the past 3 days the sound's been getting louder and the turbo is as loud as yours without a DV change. my checkengine light is back on and I looked for leaks in the new intercooler and the connected hoses but didn't find anything cracks or anything. Do you have any idea? it's so annoying because I spent all my money on my car and now it's not working again and has the same symptoms as the thing I just fixed.
I actually sold the B6 about a month ago but I did remove the DV before sales and the zip tie was actually still on there pretty good. No disintegration or anything and it had to be cut out. However, I would still recommend getting a hose clamp for safety measures. 👍
What sound proofing did you remove from the intake box ? I just installed the 034 DV. I can no longer hear my “swoosh” sound with the new DV. Bone stock 03 a4. Stock one sounded better 😂😂.
Haha so if you open up your stock airbox, on the bottom portion of the airbox there is like a plastic mesh over a foam like material. That should be the sound proofing material and was what I removed, both the plastic mesh and foam like material. BUT if you want more sound then you have to swap out the stock airbox for an open cone filter 👍
Aftermarket piston style diverter valves should be installed in the opposite orientation of the stock diaphragm DV. That will help and if you want the noise get an open cone filter. Not much is better then the stock air box that VW spent millions of dollars engineering.
I didn't have any problem with the stock diverter at that time. Just wanted to prepare for a stage 1+ tune with these smaller additional mods plus hear the recirculation more.
The B designates the chassis. One of my projects is a B5 VW Passat, it’s a B5 cause it uses the Audi B5 chassis. The A6 is C4, C5, C6 etc. The A8 is D2, D3, D4 and so on. if the chassis is XX.5 it denotes that it’s a facelift.

Can someone help me understand what a b4 b6 etc is? I have a 03 Audi a4 1.8t Quattro 5 speed and would like to know what category mines fall in
It refers to the generation of the A4s/S4s/RS4s. Wiki will show you what years for which generations. Yours is a B6 👍
