      Well, Gacharic Spin's recent anniversary show was 3 hours as a one man. So I'm thinking closer to 4.5-5.

    They're so talented, it's a shame how overlooked they continue to be. Glad you guys are shining a light on them

    In line with the song's title, you get twin vocals and a twin keys/guitar solo. Only the drummer does harsh vocals - the keyboard player shouts those lines with a bit of distortion added when performing live as the drummer is busy singing. I agree they're very much a headphones band - the studio recordings have so many layers that can easily get lost. Some of their tracks are a bit too chaotic to pull off well in a live setting, but they do give it a good go. It'll be interesting to see if they change the group's line-up when they tour again in 2024 given GS has added new members.

    Loved it and love both Gacharic Spin and Doll$boxx. What I like about Doll$boxx is the addition of vocals from Fuki and that TOMO-ZO cuts loose on guitar a bit more than she usually does with GS

    Dragonet live video is great because of Oreo's beautiful backing vocal and Hana's drum solo at the end.

    what a song. what a band. the first doll$boxx collaboration - this cd - was done in 2012 and they reunited for a second time in 2018 with another cd on which the sound got more progressive and heavier. bought both cd's and i would love to see them with a 3rd. GS is still going strong and fuki's band UNLUCKY MORPHEUS as well.

    Yes, Oreo (keyboard player) also know to growl! Drummer Hanna usually doing that, but they are multi-talented young ladies! In Japan, it's not something very rare! I remember when Misa leave band "Bridear" (and she was growler and guitarist), bassist learn how to do that, so they could perform older songs originally! That is just another proof that Japanese musicians are very dedicated group of people, who cares for their own music!

      Not only dedicated but also the best musicians in the whole world they rest of the world would sell there soul to be a tenth as talented as the Japanese females

    Great idea to do the video series
    They also made music videos for all tracks from their 2017 EP, maybe a follow up series?
    You should then also start watching some of their live stuff, they are incredible

    Japanese is fun:
    “Ga-cha,” like “Cha-cha” (the dance).
    “Hah-nah-bee-eh”

    • @Wyl7
      @Wyl7 11 місяців тому

      @greg-om2hb Yeah, I don’t have formal Japanese language education, but just observationally over the years picked up that the syllable structure is different than English. In English we tend to blend vowels into consonants to close a syllable, while Japanese ends the syllable on the vowel sound and starts the next syllable on the consonant (the “ga-char-ic” vs. “ga-cha-ric” pronunciation thing I mentioned in a different comment). Double vowel endings in Japanese words (like your Hanabie reference, and kawaii is another common example) really throw off native English speakers because splitting them into separate syllables is just not how we approach pronouncing those.

    Just do this again and listen to nothing but that drummer for a round. She is not only spot on, but also viciously singing almost every word, then doing fills and reaching clear across to the hat, flawlessly.

    Japanese can be confusing to westerners. The "ch" in Gacharic is pronounced like ch in"cheese" or "chef". Their name is taken from the Gachepon toy machines in Japan. Deposit a coin and "spin" the Gachepon handle to get your toy surprise. Thus, their name Gacharic Spin.

    Very cool that you guys are going to check out the whole album (though it might be nice to throw in a live or two also??😉) I love Oreo's contribution on the keyboard - definitely helps it to stand out from other bands that have a somewhat similar style.
    p.s. others can correct me on this, but I think the growls are done by Hana (the drummer) for this studio recording - they're less growly, or done with an effect by other members on the live version.

    • @amiwolf8117
      @amiwolf8117 Рік тому +1

      You are indeed correct. I don't think that Oreo and Koga have any effect for the live "growls", they just scream like hell :D

      for a first time listen, I think the studio tracks are a better choice. Honestly, I think Fuki’s voice sounds fatigued in a lot of the 2018 live versions. She plows ahead like the pro she is, but she wasn’t really able to sustain her high vocal register the way she’s normally capable of. Many times she either fell off sustained high notes early, or resorted to lowering the pitch to something more manageable that was still in key.
      If I remember right, Fuki was very busy at that time, so I wonder if she was just a bit overworked/tired coming into the live DB performance. Generally speaking though, she’s amazing. My favorite Japanese singer (male or female).
