- Fishing challenge where I have to change lure after each catch, I set myself a target of 10 trout on 10 different lures in this video, in a quick 2/3 hour session!
This was a really fun one, with some of the nicest brown trout I’ve had from this small river so far this year.

Great video as always. You should try soft plastics Vs hard baits for trout. Could try things like Libra lure largo.
I was planning on doing a video with my libra lures this evening but the weather said nope. Il do it maybe tomorrow if the rain and wind relaxes a bit. ☺️🤝

The trebles are being replaced next week, ive been waiting on the delivery for my micro split ring pliers I ordered , have single hooks ready to go , this box was my lure box from the lake that I use for Ferox so didn’t have the single hooks in the box.
GREAT VID, but i hate the way the 2 trebles hook the fish, if anything just one would do.

It's been raining so much here in the North all the rivers are blown out. I'm seriously considering building an Ark at this point. 😂

thats a great days fishing Senan. Was out with my 6 year old on Sat morning, he had his first rainbow trout, about 2 pound. dad blanked😂😂😂

Those Spro links are good but don’t have a combined swivel like the Savage Gear clips do. Do you just fish without a swivel in your set-up ?
Thank you. Yes, I hate the ones that have a swivel attached. The less metal a trout can see the better 👏

Great videos! When do you decide to change lures if having no takes/hits? Hooked a trout on a mepps after watching your vids but lost him. Been back out since on same mepps and blanked , any tips on choosing lure? Thanks!
I change lures constantly, to keep it challenging, but also depending on the depth and what the river bed is like, I like wobblers for the slow slowing sections, and spinners for the shallow stoney parts

Thanks frank! I usually separate my braid and fleurocarbon leader with a really small swivel. ✌️
Ya you can use fleurocarbon or even mono, both will be fine to be honest. I use 4, 5 or 6lb leader. About 2 feet long is enough ☺️

love your videos you bud you make it look so easy. i was out for 4 or so hours today and not one thing and i was on a loctaion known for trout any reason why i wasn't getting anything? i was using mepps spinners and rapala count down.
It can be really hard to catch on lures when the water is clear, best time to get them is when there’s a slight colour in the water after a bit of rain, the trout are a lot more confident with their camouflage to go out and hunt around the river 👌

I was a covid refugee in Kerry for seven months, fished small and large rivers and streams and flat wore them out each time. 5'1/2" ultralight with 4 lb. Test. Among the best trout fishing I've ever experienced. Be back in September for another go.
Btw, I was told by the local game warden that a license was not required, nor a permit if it was exclusively trout fishing. With my dinky rod and reel he said I was good to go even on the leased water of the Feale.

That small spro stainless steel clip is rated to 7.5kg, stronger than other brands clips that would be even a bigger size, the good ones are stronger and smaller 👌 they are crazy strong ! thank you. 👍
I'm the same as you mafriend stay local to a river iv fished for over 20yrs now and iv noticed with theis bigger lure the foxi minow iv Been catching larger trout , my average with meps are jst 1 pnd n over or baby's, but on the bigger lures av been topping 2 to 3 pnd wild brown trout , trout iv never caught b4 , so they'll probably be bigger than that in their mafriend, my local river is half the size , tight lines always and cracking video , I know what trout lures I'm going to try nxt lol , respect 🙏 from across the water in glasgow 🏴🎣👌😎

Yes, I use the 7cm size on the lake, they will work fine on the river, the bigger trout will go for them 👌

Was going to ask you for advice on some river locations near Portumna, done privately of course but then I noticed you dont respond or don't share information. I try to help out other anglers within reason.
Hi Niklas, I always help anglers and have done for years, but asking for the locations of UA-cam videos on such small trout rivers only leads to bad things, poaching is ripe in Ireland especially for trout, small spots getting abused. It’s not the person asking, it’s the wrong crowd who might see that location on the comment and abuse it. It’s best to never ask a UA-cam creator a location. All I do with this channel is help anglers with tips, but sharing locations is something that’s frowned upon in this industry. Going out and finding your own areas is half the fun.
@Senan Stanley Fishing each to their own I guess, for my part I will continue help and share locations to genuine fishermen.
If I shared locations in the videos, there would be 100+ anglers on that tiny stretch the next week which would ruin it forever .. guaranteed, just a heads up bud.
