@ LFP is a different battery chemistry. Less range but degrades less even if charged to 100% all the time, and its usually much cheaper. Peru is heavily lobbying BYD to build an assembly plant for BYD electric vehicles in Peru that would supply/service the entire South American EV market, not just the Peruvian EV market. Peru also has just opened the largest automated container and Ro/Ro port in all of South America at Chancay, Peru. The Chancay port is also majority owned by a Chinese company, COSCO Shipping, which has the exclusive management of the new port for 10 years. Tesla has not expanded into South America at all. BYD just delivered 500 EVs to Peru, and it was the port's first delivery of new vehicles.
My opinion after test driving the Highland and MYP yesterday, sure the refresh stuff is cool but if you don’t have kids for the back seat, it’s hard to say it’s worth waiting for the Juniper if it’s essentially a Highland in a model Y. Assuming you get a reduced price on one in inventory. Put in an order for an MYP for a referral code and discount totaling $4100 with an initial total of $48k before the federal rebate. Personally the stereo soundstage is better in the MY than the Highland performance. The Highland is quieter on roads where the tire noise is generally loud. If the a smooth newer road, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. The whole blinker thing is no big deal. I feel like the average buyer of the MY wants them. It doesn’t take long to adjust. The only problem I have with no stalks is as soon as you get into a normal ICE car or anything else, you’re going to be mixed up. It just doesn’t seem worth the trade off although the savings for Tesla is probably significant over volume. The only thing the Juniper MY is really worth is if it has much better range. Cool if it’s even faster with the gen 4 engines but the old MYP is fast. The interior changes are not game changers regardless of how many UA-camrs hype up the ambient light. If it reflects off the windshield that would drive me nuts.
