  • I noticed the shocks on the Mojave 4s weren't really doing a good job of dampening. So I decided to service them. Come along and see why you need to check your shocks and what oil to use to service them.
Let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to check out my other repair and tips videos on the Mojave 4s.
    Stay well.

Much better dude. I just put 60 weight in the rear and 50 in front and it’s perfection for my riding in California

Let me know if it changes over time. I've been bashing ever since and I think I can see a very slight change so far from whence I first did it.

Omg, I felt that tree smack 😬 both amazing trucks, though. Nice job on the tune! 👍
    *here's what Cst means:
    Centistoke
This number indicates the ease with which the oil can be moved. The other unit is the Centistoke (cSt) which is used to report the kinematic viscosity of motor oil at high temperatures. The number reflects the time required for a fixed amount of fluid to flow through a certain sized orifice on the testing device.

All 4 of my shocks were leaking straight out of the box from the seals at the shafts, even dripping oil on the floor.

That's a shame and a warranty claim.if I ever heard one. Those shocks are BIG.

For what it’s worth I added two spares vertically mounted to the back just for looks. It sits lower of course all stock but it really smoothed out all the rebound and has that magic rear float over bumps like the UDR. Maybe just add weight unless it’s against the rules 😅? It’s all a delicate balance but I also like the heavier realistic feel. 🙏🏼👊🏼🤙🏼

I was so going to do that since I had spare tires but didn't want to cut into the body.

@@bigbristv oh same here at first but I just removed the rear rectangle area behind the body mount and between the fire extinguishers. The spares sit a little high on the rear bumper but it works great and and the body is still rigid.

I don't think any company makes a 20,000cst shock oil because 100wt oil equals 1325cst. I am running stiffer springs than stock and 100wt oil and it has waaaay more dampening than stock the setup. If I was to guess I bet they are running more like 40wt / 516cst stock. It sure handles a lot better with the stiffer spring and thicker oil setup that's for sure!

Thanks for this! I think they were going for the floaty result when driving thru the whoops, but for real-world bashing, we needed something more robust! Glad you got yours sorted!

In my opinion after driving it I think the 4s is supposed to bottom out jumping. By putting such heavy oil in you stop it from bottoming out but you slow the rebound and dampening a lot especially when driving over choppy surfaces. You will probably find it a lot more bouncy on smaller bumps

    • @bigbristv
      @bigbristv  2 місяці тому +1

Yeah, I was thinking about this which is why I bought different weight oils. I guess I'll have to tune for the conditions. They tried to strike a happy balance out of the box, same with the Baja Rey 2.0. Just tune to your application I guess 🙂

@bigbristv yep that's what I have now nothing lots of natural areas. The rc tracks and bmx tracks are private, car parks are out security kick you out and shops open 10am to 10pm 365, the Philippines was more rc friendly.

What do you think of a shock with more adjustability, like almost all other shocks, having a threaded barrel and adjusting it with a thumb wheel like ring?

@bigbristv CPS (Centipoise scale) is pretty much the same numbering as the Centistokes measurement (cSt). 1 CPS = 1 cSt, 500 CPS = 500 cSt etc.. 100wt is NOT the same as 100 cSt! 100wt is about 1450 cSt! Put 100wt oil in your shocks and it will land like a brick.
