I still can't believe this wasn't done by a shop. It appears to be too perfect not to be.
I love it!
...and I think they should leave her that way.
If only they made the raid loco have the full chessie paint
Only slight flaw is visible from the top of the nose, which leaves it very convincing!
Excellent video Drayton! Wish I could've joined you guys, but I'm a deplorable (uninvited) and was unaware you were here in C'vlle 😅. The engine is still here, hopefully you can catch it again before they send it away for repainting.
And it was done overnight
There's a lot going on here, aside from the interesting subject matter, you just can't beat shots like those passing the cattle, or rocking across that jointed rail! I assume those shots at GEO are pretty hard to come by as well, so nicely done. We'll all be looking back at this era someday, laughing at the pitiful job CSX did with their heritage program while true fans took the rails to show 'em how it's done!
Absolutely. Thanks so much for watching and keep up the great work with your awesome videos too!
@@DelayInBlockProductions😂😅#7312 with a dash nine cab? Amazing!
Can someone make a petition for CSX to leave this locomotive's paint as it is
Some dumbass foamer illegally vandalized a piece of private property. It’s not up to the community to tell what a railroad does to its equipment. Making a petition for the paint to stay would just fuel the foamers and vandals to do more illegal acts on railroad property, so your idea is completely stupid.
I prefer the current t CSX corporate and Heritage paint over this god ugly vandalism act done to 6914.
Who knows, they might just anyways
This isn’t Vandalism, this is Art
I think csx should run with what they did to the locomotive
You mean paint the rest of it in chessie colors?
@@thesealsharkproductions9780 No, I like the mix
I do to, I just wish the rest of the cab was painted and not just the nose
@@thesealsharkproductions9780 I agree, it’d be nice to see the whole cab painted
I love it. My grandfather worked for C&O / Chessie System back in the 40s to his retirement in the early 80s. I love seeing Chessie.
I’m glad you narrated this yourself. I like your narration better than the pro you hired.
Great video and excellent narration! Glad to hear you back behind the mic for this video!
I love it!! I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d see that logo on the front of a locomotive again.
It’s awesome you got to document this Drayton!! Who knows if CSX will repaint it or not so it’s good someone like you preserved in a high quality video
I enjoyed watching this video of the "Vandalized" Chessie Heritage Unit, CSX 6914, Drayton! The engine brought back memories of the 1970s Chessie System engines. Now, the only time you see Chessie the Cat logo is on an occasional 86-foot CSXT auto parts boxcar and then the logo is very faded. The other trains that you were able to capture were also interesting to watch. I was not aware that Union Pacific unit was damaged on the Norfolk Southern and then rebuilt in the Juniata Shops with a Norfolk Southern style cab. Thank you for finding that Union Pacific engine and recording it for us to see.
Awesome stuff Drayton!!
Thanks!
I love the Chessie the cat logo. It is one of my favorite things. When I heard of the CSX name, it made me proud that nobody forgot about the Chessie System and the Seaboard line when creating the CSX name. Way to go CSX. Robert
As a distant observer, surprising CSX does not make more use of 'Chessie' for branding similar to the NS pony.
Well, 'thoroughbred race horse' would be more accurate.
because cats mating with horses is animal husbandry.
Beautiful locomotive, and a breath of fresh air compared to the GEVO.
Some additional info may add clarity to what line they are running on past Rockmart. At Rockmart, they turn west off of the L&N/SAL Cartersville-Rockmart branch(there is ambiguity regarding who the majority owner was), and onto what remains of the SAL Birmingham sub. Trains ran 55mph back in the day. CSX carved up this line in the late '80's in favor of the ex-ACL line to Birmingham. Except for the stub running to Cedartown, everything from Atlanta to a point in Alabama called Wellington is gone. L&N crossed the SAL at Wellington. At some point coinciding with the abandonment of the SAL eastward to Cedartown, the L&N line coming south at WN was tied into the westward SAL to create a new branch from BHAM to Guntersville. The SAL Bham line was known for having a peculiar signal system with "X" boxes at each signal. If a train arrived at a restricting signal, the conductor could walk to the box, pull the switch inside and if there were no opposing movements, the signal would clear. Repeat to destination. Didn't know the ex CofG at Ctown was out of service...that's the stub of the Chattanooga line.
Thank you for providing this valuable information! I found it quite difficult to research the history of the Cartersville Sub. -Drayton
SAL Cartersville Branch. L & N the interloper. L & N had to get permission from the SCL Dispatcher to use the Branch to the power plant. L & N ran a pair of trains from Gadsden, Al to Wellington and trackage right from Wellington to Cartersville. At Cartersville took the AK & N to Etowah, Tn.
Dont care if it's a vandalized train the person or persons who did it deserve a job. They did a really fine job with the paintjob.
Vandalized? CSX should be hiring this Artist. Best looking CSX Engine on the Rails.
This is the real true Chessie System Heritage Unit, thanks to whoever painted this masterpiece. I hope CSX doesn't paint it back to its normal CSX colors and paint the whole train into its new look.
Drayton another great video! It’s very smart to get 6914 now before it’s gone! I wish I could get 6914 with that dope nose but I’m in Nc😂!
Ayeee jack
@@treysrailfanning1296 Hi trey!
Whoever painted it should get a job at a CSX paint shop.
I work for CSX. And there are actually 3 like this. I do not know the nomenclatures of the locomotives. They are identical to this. Idk the numbers either so this may be one. We had them in our yard all at once. I’m not necessarily a rail fan but I do enjoy seeing you guys out there. Rail fans have taught me more about our equipment than my company 😂
Like this take on heritage too. I’m mixed on the CSX ones, some of them are really nice but others are total duds.
Hey Delay in Block how do you feel about Southern 722 restoration at GSMR.
I wonder if that coal train realized their right blinker was on.. This was a pretty good video, I like it :)
The light is a ditch light , one was not working properly .
@@johnuhelski8613 Yep
Excellent video Drayton😎
No buffer car between locomotive and tank cars?
Those are empties.
So glad you raised the subject of....mother & slug, not just a random pair put together 😀 thanks to CSX for making the locomotives available for our viewing pleasure along with your "world-class" narrative ❤😊
This would be such a clever way for CSX to introduce a paint scheme. I agree with comments that the paint job looks professional.
This is how the new heritage should have been done! Too bad it will never come my way before getting repainted 😢😢
Happy Saturday! Have a great weekend!
Great video! An honor to be featured on the one and only Delay in Block Productions!
This was excellent. Thank you for sharing
That Chessie looks like a professional paint job. Makes her special.👍👌😇
Don’t paint it over, PLEASE!!! Tell CSX to accept it! Have mercy!
Won’t be long before CSX paints it back lmao. Still a great catch!
Awesome!!!!! 🚂🚂🚂🚂
Amazing catch. It’s great to see it while you can. It’s so well done
Shout-Out to the Huntington shops!! ! My home turf!!
Good stuff!
Love the video
Why do people say vandalised? That was obviously a professional job, official or otherwise
Personally, I really like the new CSX heritage units just as much as any railroad's. It's original, and I just think that they generally look good.
No cover car for the 1257?
its so good you dont even wanna call it "vandalism"🤣
and that was multiple "repainters" involved.
23:26 Notice how the trees have been planted in straight lines.
Based on the history of the engine I feel like they knew which one to paint
Have you visited the CSX yard in Dothan, Alabama? There’s some activity there every day. The south entrance of the yard is only feet away from the former ACL depot there. I’ve seen CSX train M650 every time I’ve been there.
Excellent work here, guys - handhald/drone camera footage looks great, capturing a nice slice of countryside along the way. (And, that "respray"- gotta love it. CSX brass must be totally confused. Let's hope they just quietly Let It Be.)
Thank you!
Note to CSX , PAINT THE NOSE !! Save the sides for the stupid CSX logo !!
I don’t mind the csx heritage units and I feel like people are getting worked up over nothing
For real
They are getting worked up because of the Fade CSX done. We prefer the whole loco to be painted.
@@ejdsndnj yes but do you get the idea behind the fade in
This is we’re we are and this is we’re we’ve been
@@awesomeaustin5704 Thats an excuse to keep they're paint scheme in the front.
Great shots awesome show from engineer as well
The shots of 6914 from head on are weird time machine kind of stuff. Love the old EMD engine and horn sounds. Also pretty funny how NS decided to give that UP unit the old Pennsy treatment lol.
Who do I post the SP red and grey to ????
I like this video because you did not pretend that the CSXT's actual "heritage" units are good like so many other fans are.
Great to hear your voice again doing the narration! It makes your videos much more cohesive.
Glad you enjoy it!
Its not.. an heritage unit, it got vandalized and it wasnt made by the compagny so its not an heritage unit
6914 should be left in that scheme. It's a nice scheme.
Nice Video
🍃💮🇮🇳🍃💮
19:52 Hey cows almost turned into this if it got on the tracks🍔💀
I don’t understand the hate for the GEVO Chessie heritage unit.
its fade is less then stellar--the ns 4002-4004 units are stellar fades!
Intersting most of the flats on the welded rail train were still using old grease box wheelsets instead of rolling bearing, that they didnt even repace them.
They're roller bearing dropped into journal bearing trucks
Cartersville is one of the most beautifull places ive ever lived.
Thanks for the chase Drayton!
What are the opinions of the CSX employees on the new nose job
CSX should put the kitten on the front of all engines again
The guy who did it is laying low. His first name is Noah
multiple noah's.
Totally agreed that this is the better Chessie heritage unit!
I learned every adjective in 1 minute 30 seconds.
Waycross painted that thing to spoof the foamers, possibly with the instigation of Jacksonville.
if so, way to go!!
Personally, I like the unique take on CSX's Heritage units, especially the Conrail and Chessie Heritage Units, maybe because I like seeing something that stands out from the NS Heritage units, but I'll admit, whoever that Vandal was they took their time to get it precise.
Thank you, someone who actually appreciates what CSX is doing with their Heritage Units.
Even though i'm in Kansas, I've always had a soft spot for Chessie as 3 of the train sets I had as a kid were Chessie. There's an SD-18 still in full Chessie colors at the elevator in South Haven, KS on the Blackwell Northern Gateway RR that I need to go photograph.
Hopefully CSX doesn't repaint 6914 any time soon. Or better yet: Decide to go "all in" and completely repaint it in Chessie colors.
Amazing video as always! I have an idea for a track you might find quite interesting, it’s in Michigan and it’s called the Conrail Sterling Secondary. It’s pretty much a NS line since that’s the only train ID’s the line has, but it does have Conrail Shared Assets locals, but it’s still only NS. I think it’d be a cool track to film and narrate about
How could csx not like that paint job
2344 and 6914 were on locals back in 2005 in Cartersville if I remember correctly
That gorgeous Chessie nose just makes the stupid brackets CSX logo look even worse. CSX has an amazing history of making each paint schemes look progressively worse than the one before it.
so, you liked the baby blues.............
the 90s CSX paint is the best! and then they changed it to the super-duper boring and ugly one they have now.
are you a poet now
I might have missed WHY, but am I the only person that notices that the ears are NOT accurate on the Chessie cat depiction? The paint job might have been done well, but the logo accuracy is way off.... The ears are totally wrong.... Unless I'm missing something...
Drayton, this is so sick! Incredible footage… can’t beat that field shot of the plant at Stilesboro!
Very unique horn as well
It's a raised letter K5LA, but with #2 and #5 bells not sounding, basically making it a hybrid K3L
1:34 that intro was actually really poetic I liked it
I'd like to request that the painters responsible for this beautiful paint job do another style application. Always thought a traditional hot rod yellow/orange/red fade flame job would look sweet on a locomotive.
Very enjoyable video. DIB rocks.
I used to live in cartersville. I live in montana now. Cool to see my old home town, and chessie the cat on the rebound.
NICE VIDEO
Ok, here me out: Chessie on the nose, seaboard on the rear.🤷♂️
CSX #6914 the vandalized chessie heritage unit chase. Its unclear who did that nose but i gotta say it looks good.
Looks like CSX didn't notice! LOL. Serves them right doing old in the back and current in the front. But this paint job looks even completely backwards!
I believe that someone from CSX higher-ups is responsible for this cause this is too perfect of a job with only spray paint cans and stencils. Plus it was done in a single night so yeah definitely professionally done
I wouldnt call this vandalism.
I like it, and I think they should leave her that way!
The reason for the criticism is because CSX has not the done full engine like how NS did with all of their heritage units.
The Chessie paint scheme was definitely "vandalism"....since 1972 😂
6914 is the best looking loco CSX has . I heard they already repainted it ? is this true
I hope they keep it!
That brings back many great memories. That little bit of vermillion makes such a difference.
At 10:27 i noticed some of the MOW flat cars are old solid berring stock (converted to roller berring) wonder how old those arw
8060 was put online within two weeks one way or the other about the time I turned 5 in August 79.
"A dance between nature and urban life." You're a poet and don't know it. Or DO you???
This video is really cool and 6914 looks absolutely hellfire 😊
You are so poetic Drayton
I think you missed your calling in life .
Fun fact it really isn't a special unit. Because Thay say the railway did not paint so someone random had done it so it's not a special unit
👇
I still own the Hot Wheels railroad yard and it has a Chessie system and is Santa Fe locomotive
