Not really the women and children first thing was pretty much exclusively British policy that was made into a common concept by the notoriety of its use on titanic. The policy itself dates to about 1852 in the aftermath of the sinking of HMS Birkenhead (and indeed at the time of titanic women and children first was still widely referred to as Birkenhead drill) a British troopship that sunk off South Africa and like titanic didn't enough lifeboats, the redcoats on board helped the women and children into the lifeboats then stood in formation on deck as the ship went down after the ship went down they kept to orders not to swim towards the lifeboats so as not to swamp them and so most drowned or were eaten by sharks (survivors were those in the rigging as the water was shallow, the men who survived the sharks when swimming to shore, some men holding on to planks and three men who ignored orders and made for the lifeboats (they were likely part of a later court martial) out of 643 people 193 are said to have survived but the loss of the roll books with the ship mean the the true number is impossible to attain. The actions of the soldiers was widely acclaimed and lead to "the Birkenhead drill" becoming unofficial British naval code up into the disaster of the titanic. Also plenty of guys at the titanic disagree with the order and added with general disorder on deck as the lifeboats were filling and probably contributed to them being sent off so empty.

It's a shame we'll be losing such a great feat of engineering to nature eventually, but at the same time it's a great example of man's hubris as well. We created something believed to be indestructible, and it was proven to not be the case. So to anyone saying that it’s possible to raise it. Nope. It’s feasibly impossible. And before I even begin to explain why, let me start with this: “You really want to go to all that trouble for a ship?”
Even disregarding the fact that the ship is now in two halves strewn about a half mile debris field, the metal and forging methods were subpar leading to the further destruction of the hull and superstructure as it sank and faced more pressure. Let alone saying anything about the absolutely trashed state of the aft (rear) section of the ship, the stern (front) section itself is also not secure. A good example of this is the stern’s top deck of the ship, so famous in the movie for the king of the world and flying scenes, being probably a good 10 feet lower, at least, than it was when the ship was built.
That’s not even mentioning that the means to raise it would take a massive engineering feat that would require the attachment of floatation devices that could withstand the massive amounts of pressure at the bottoms of the ocean floor. There’s only two ways to do that that have even a remote of success, welding the floatation devices or tying them to the ship via chain, and both are extremely complicated when the logistics of it are broken down, leading to a 99.9% chance of it failing.
To weld it would require hundreds of man hours to properly weld the floatation devices via deep sea submersible. You couldn’t send down a man in a suit because of the pressure, and welding it requires a very close up view. While raising it, though, one would face the subpar construction as it would rise through the water possibly leading to even more degradation. (And if you mention the Costa Concordia, that was done in shallow water to a largely intact ship.)
The chain, while the more feasible of the two, would probably be the less reliable to do so. And it could only be a chain due to the immense pressures facing a rope possibly leading to the disintegration of the rope. And again one faces the degraded hull as it rises out of the water. (And if you think it will work, look up the story of the SS Cayuga, a ship that sank near the Mackinaw straits in Lake Michigan that was the subject of repeated refloating attempts, that also attempted the same method as proposed above.)
Now, if someone was actually crazy enough to do it and has the capital to somehow pull it off, and does so, the problem that comes after though is the logistics. Let alone laws in the United States forbidding such actions signed after the wreck’s discovery, the wreck site is protected by UNESCO, the lead body on determining what should be internationally recognized for cultural preservation.
Even then, in the decades following the sinking, there were legal battles over who technically owned the wreck, and attempted salvaging operations. Following its discovery and exploration, there companies that planned to survey and, more controversially, salvage the wreck. Following the salvage operations, which were MAJORLY lambasted, people criticized the company’s decision to SELL items, as if they were trinkets of little value.
So I must ask again, although this time in more detail, “You want to deal with the obvious logistical, financial, legal, and public perception troubles that come with raising the wreck, not even mentioning the preservation to the already degraded ship, and think that it’s worth it?” If you answered yes, I don’t know what to say except keep dreaming. It’s never gonna happen in this or the ship’s lifetime.

I’m pretty sure they would rather be buried next to their families, then at the bottom of the ocean. I’m not disagreeing with the facts it probably is physically impossible but that’s not what these people are saying. There are two facts that this video failed to mention or just plain glossed over
01 ) The water tight bulkheads did not go up to the main deck. In fact the water tight bulkheads did not even go up to the same decks. They cut off at different decks. This contributed to the sinking as the water spilled over the bulkheads and moved on to the next section
02 ) Because the ships construction was riveted together this brought up fatigue cracks in the steel. As we have learned in the 120 years since the sinking of the RMS Titanic because of plane disasters all it takes is a fatigue crack in the wrong spot will doom either a ship or an airplane. Just look at the de Havilland Comet. Because the windows were square the fatigue cracks that eventually lead to two planes exploding in mid air.

Ground Zero in NY has technically been turned into a museum and graveyard and i dont see anything wrong with it. The two waterfall holes in the ground act as a memorial and grave site with all victims names carved into the stone surrounding the deep holes where the buildings once stood. There is a building made out of recycled pieces of the wtc towers that acts as a train station/mall and there is a small museum with salvaged pieces of the towers for people to pay respects to. I forget if its the station or the museum made from the recycled parts but regardless, its a nice thing. So basically i think it would be okay to do something like that. But as we learned it is impossible anyway.

There's also other reasons why she may have sank, the mummy tomb that had a curse on anyone who moved it and also the rivets not being the right metal compesition. I think a lot of factors played into the sinking of titanic.it's so upsetting to see the condition of her now from when she was first discovered. Also another vid I watched showed there is 60-80 feet of sand clogging her down, ( the still hung anchor chain should have up to 80feet of ship under it yet current images show the sand and crap off the bottom just under the anchor. The titanic was not discovered untill 1985 and for those that do not know the she lies roughly 12500 feet below surface over 2 miles down. The titanic gave distress signals as she was going down however there was no exact location more like a rough idea of where she sank. Now we did not have the technology to ping sonar at those depths accurately so it took many years to discover her. Even in 1985 the fact we could find the wreckage was amazing and we really couldn't explore it well because submarines in that time struggled to safely go that far down past the crush point. So for those saying you could recover her I'm sorry to say your wrong today what's left of her hull if paper thin and would not survive being pulled up and I know many people ask why didn't they recover the ship 20 years after she fell and the answer is they didn't know where it was and they did not have the technology to do so then.

When it came to the point in the story to tell of the iceberg, a large piece of Titanic was there under "starry skies" and the air was cold to replicate the circumstances of that night. A little imagination goes a long way. At the beginning of the exhibit each person was given a name of a passenger so at the end of the journey you search the records to find how the person's story turns out. The ship was underwater for 73 years before being discovered. Bacteria was already set in wearing down the ships remaining structures, plus the ship was broken in half in the middle. Even then there was no way to raise a fragile ship that's 2 miles underwater...

pretty much everyone died at the stern. the bow woud be worth saving and be presrved for future generations so the ship and the peope that died with her can be remember. but as u know the ship is to fragile to even attempt. she will be a pile of rubble and rusticles in 50 years

Had "GOD" actually designed and built the Titanic, IT WOULD'VE ABSOLUTELY NEVER SUNK! Why? Because a knowledgable individual regarding GOD should already know that unlike fallible, error- prone Humans, GOD is not fallible, imperfect, prone to error or make mistakes, is not partial, a bigot and at least prudent only 100 percent of the time. GOD designed all Humans. However, the current error-prone condition of the Human Being is absolute NOT GOD'S fault, responsibility, liability, choice, decision or anything else remotely relevant to imperfection. The point: GOD doesn't make mistakes! If Humans were perfect the way GOD planned, intended, designed, etc the Human to be in the first place, the Titanic would've never sunk. Humans were NEVER intentionally designed or created on purpose to daily make mistakes, contract various diseases, get sick unnecessarily, age and eventually die. Why would such a thing even be necessary?

They took coal from her sister ship Olympic for Titanic's maiden voyage. If she had collided with the iceberg head on, it probably would have survived. The rivets were made of cast iron while the plating was of steel, but of poor quality. They speculated that the extreme cold of the water caused the rivets to become brittle and as it slid past the iceberg, it popped off the heads of the rivets. Also, from evidence provided by the survivors, she possibly rode over an under water ice shelf of the iceberg causing further damage to the hull and possibly breaking off one of the blades of the propeller causing a vibration reported by the passengers. It's amazing that the sinking of the Titanic is still a very talked about event all these 110 years!
