I love this video. This was a really hard lesson for me to learn. I use to get so stressed out about what people thought of me. Earlier this year my doctor told me that I had Lupus and I learned that stress makes my Lupus flares waaay worse. I tried so many things to stop stressing but nothing stuck until one day I decided to design a very large tattoo that would go on my forearm. I drew a energy wave with a sparrow flying in the air and words that said "I am enough". I found a great artist to do my tattoo and he added so much life to my tattoo. I put so much intention into my tattoo. Now every morning I wake up and see my beautiful tattoo and I know that I am enough. I know enough, I do enough, I have enough... I am enough and now I have so much peace. I am still in a lot of pain but I am not stressed about it like I use to be and I learned to take better care of myself and not worry about what other people say. I wish I did this years ago. I am blessed.

Kindness is wonderful. Unfortunately it is often interpreted by others as a form of weakness, so be sure and know what your boundaries are with others. This will help you not be a target for those who will take advantage of your kindness and patience. I am a classic "empathetic person" and was a social worker in hospitals for years. I noticed that quite a few nurses and other people who are kind and caring often get involved with either broken-winged birds or abusive people. Ironically, I was able to be of help to others but was attracted to broken people just like those nurses. I've had to "let go" of the regrets and move on with my life, having learned to start taking better care of #1.

"If you're part of a group, a way to counterattack herd behaviour is doing the direct opposite. If everyone wears sneakers, wear loafers. If everyone orders beer, order a soda." - I disagree with doing things differently just for the sake of being "outside". You should do what's best for you, regardless of other people. If sneakers and beer are what you really want, go for that. The idea is to look at "why" you're choosing those things - to fit in or because they fit you?
@@PotatoPaul69 My reaction was about this statement: "If you're part of a group, a way to counterattack herd behaviour is doing the direct opposite." - perhaps you'd like to re-read what I wrote. The point shouldn't be "they're doing this, therefore I'll do this other thing" because that's just you rebelling for the sake of it.
Yes, I agree, doing the opposite just for it's sake is not freedom - do what you truly want and need and what's good for you - and f. e. if you like sneakers, that's pretty fine
I agree, there are situations where "choosing the opposite" could result in you being excluded by whatever group you are with at the time. Imagine if the group has unofficially appointed a "leader", and he/she suggests a place to eat. Lo and behold, everyone agrees it's a good choice. But you actually think it's not a good suggestion so should you really disagree with what the "leader" has suggested and risk being laughed at, ignored or worse, excluded by the group? There are only so many times you can do this before you end up with no friends. And one important aspect of living a happy life is actually having contact to people.
@@fargone2000 If you think it's not a good suggestion, speak your mind and explain your reasoning. Your group should be supportive - if they aren't, maybe they really aren't your group.

Simple you have to start with not caring what other people think sounds cliché but only then you can see what you think which has a far more powerful impact on your relationships with family, friends, professional, personal or just everyday interactions. You have to be fully aware of your thoughts some may be deep on a subconscious level so you have to be careful as your thoughts can project false perceptions which can give you a delusional reality. All in all you just have to relax. I recommend daily prayer, meditation, moderate exercise and reading. Hope this helps ✌️
Just realize that life is short, a few hundred years from now nobody will even remember you unless you did something extraordinary for the human race. So fuck it all and do what makes you happy. Im also trying my best to do what makes me happy without fearing what people think of me. Godspeed

how I have learned to approach life is simple: Think deeply about how you want your life to be, in every way. Create a plan of how you might get there, once you find the most effective way, do it. Learn as you go, this way you're never bothered by the trivial things most people are so easily shaken by.
In my adult years I’ve subscribed to the idea of Flow.. and ever since I have literally floated through life without a care in the world not giving a fuck about anything. It’s great because you cannot be defeated by anyone once you stop caring.
You described a lot of things that I seem to have practiced for a very long time. People only belittle you (however that may be) for things in public or otherwise, because they feel insecure about themselves in some form or fashion.
I’m doing an experiment at present. I’m wearing the same clothes every day. Same jeans, grey shirt and boots. Same hoodie....not one person has said one thing. No one cares. It’s been 28 days and not one peep.
I too performed this exercise. It was more for me than for anyone else. In 2018, I wore the same outfit during the Ramadan Month that's practiced in the country I live. I cleaned the outfit every weekend, but did wear it everyday. If anyone noticed, they never mentioned it to me.
I’m delighted to find that I’m more Stoic than I imagined. Through the recognition that ‘no thing is a thing’, I’ve been able to ditch so much unnecessary baggage that I gleefully couldn’t care less about anything other than simply being here now.
I generally really like your videos, but I must disagree with the “looking terrible in public” idea. I think Stoicism encourages us to be the best self we can be, and I think, therefore that not putting in an effort in this regard is rather lazy. In addition, if Stoicism requires that we also adopt habits that benefit the common good,, I think looking good is a virtuous goal. Thanks for everything.
...you can still apply the rule to the opposite, looking smashing extremely elegant, wearing a suit just to go and buy some eggs and bacon at your local grocery store...still some people will find it odd.
Rob Goodsight Well, yes. But we’re talking about looking “terrible” in public. One need not look smashing or elegant on everyday errands, but at least look like one cares about oneself a little bit. How about a pair of jeans and a t-shirt? If these are clean and in good repair, and if they fit well, they’ll look far better than pyjama pants and flip flops. It’s about what you think of yourself, man.

@@mmsquiggles I don't think that looking "bad" necessarily means that you don't have a good opinion about yourself, someone can spend his time reading or painting with passion(or whatever) and just prioritize this
Della, I think you missed the part in the beginning where op is addressing only those who have an extra hard time with feeling judged by others. This video was actually not for everyone.
Great video people these days are too concerned with themselves and like to act superior to boost their self esteem. It's best to keep it polite with people. And only be friendly and laugh and joke with your family and friends. It's best to be humble and confident and dignified and believe in your self . Treat people the way you want to be treated and always be respectable don't take life to seriously. . People now love drama and boosting their egos by acting like they are perfect and important. It's best to ignore drama and understand that people are too concerned with themselves. And don't care what people say Or do personally. These days people are just thinking about themselves me me me and like acting better than the rest.
I totally disagree with "looking bad in public"! I challenge myself everyday, body, mind and soul. I believe that if I always look my best, and try my best (challenge myself as opposed to people needing someone to help them along the way), I will inspire others to do the same. Others will look at me and think.."maybe I should be more like her". I strive to have my own look. I seem to go against the grain and create my own identity. I seriously, honestly do NOT care whether anyone likes me or not. I am a hard worker and try to be nice to my customers everyday (as well as look my best!)
Society puts so much pressure and has its own definition of "perfection" to everyone right now and its rare to find someone who goes the other way around. Just be yourself. Be your own authentic, genuine self. Stay safe ❤️
I suppose you could make them your business. The only question is can you make yourself happy when the elements don’t live up to your standards. That’s when the elements or the external world our out of your control.
Let's be realistic. How many of us would have a job tomorrow if we applied any of these rules. It's an abstract concept unless you have enough money to literally not give a f*** what people think.
I think you’re smart enough to deduce that he doesn’t recommend doing this at the workplace( he says so explicitly) and to recognize that these are ways to decrease anxiety
You must balance your life by yourself. Cant find answers about your own life in someone else's words. Just use these as advices and shape your life in your own way. If you keep constantly living a life where you spend most of your time trying to met someone else's idea of you (I mean, what they expect from you as a person) sooner or later that lifestyle will reach you in a negative way. If in the other hand, you simply stop caring about their expectations and you only care about yourself and your own being (leaving behind your fear of what others may believe about you), your life will eventually be... Just better. Live for yourself and those who you genuinely care about. Everything and everyone else is/are just beyond your control. That's what you gotta accept and that's what you gotta leave behind. You can keep your life, just... free your mind from the mind of the others.
Well Done! Once again another great video! I have been shirking conformity for a long time. In some cases it has resulted in looks and jeers, however by people I saw that once and never again (indifferent to and out of my control.) Because of their narrow view of the world I represented change / something different and to mask their inner fear they needed to mock me. To those that matter and those with an open mind I have been thanked; I have been complimented on my strength / courage. Not my intent, all that being stated I am being me and doing, saying and wearing what makes me comfortable. Keep up the good work I very much enjoy your channel! Striving for virtue is a wee easier with the content on your channel.

Yes!!
I just used Google translate to look up "Einzelgänger" and apparently it means loner. I like it.

Thank you!
This is the best thing I ever heard. I am an amputee. I got a rare bone cancer In my right foot and instaly chose to cut it off. It's been 17 years, and I still say the same thing to every person I meet. It's the the best thing that ever happened to me because I got to meet you. I feel that about this channel. I'm a black amputee that skateboard. I was skateboarder before this. But all of this topic put everything I ever thought in perspective. I knew that I was going to be completely different after my surgery and I was before. But I told myself if I go to sleep, during this surgery,if I wake up and still like big woman, drum n bass, and the want to be there for people, then nothing has changed about me. Nothing changed about me. I've been in so many moments that all I felt was to say f**k it, was the only way to go. You help me to understand that I've had my freedom ever since I had my surgery. the ability not to care but care, even though I really don't give a f**k. I do care it just sux I have say i don't give a f**k sometime. But ill never change the compassion I have for people who don't understand me. Thank you for helping me with this topic. I have to much to talk about but i hope that u get the a small overview. Like I said I've been an amputee for 17 years I've lived like this topic. Thank you so much for your insight, because I no longer feel guilty by living this topic.

Especially when we, as a bunch of adults, know what exactly the word is. The sanctimony is insufferable.
It would be better if Einzelgänger used a different sound than the beep, because the beep itself sounds horrible
The beep sound itself is known by kids itself that it is freaking inappropriate

I thought I was going through some kind of state of depression. It turns out I am just practicing Stoicism.
Lol
That's exactly why Stoicism is not always a good path to follow. Being passive and not caring is missing a big part of a great life - as David Bowie once said: "Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming". Be part of creating your own better life!

Not really true. I never cared. Been a loner since I was 3 years old. My parents will honestly tell you this.
My beard is now just over 40 cm, and my hair is more than half a meter long.
I have the oldest car in the parkinglot at work -or anywhere else I go, for that matter. -and I have never been more at ease in life.
Before People judge too harshly: I stay fit, I stay clean, I stay sober. My economy is good and I seek to evolve as a person every day of my life.
-I must be a stoic, even though I didn't even know what that was when I made these changes to my life.
Yeah, and one more thing: Even though I do not seek the attention of others, and have NO ambition to fit in, I have never been more "hunted Down" by women than what I experience now..
-go figure..
Preach brother. I make quite a bit of money for my job and by looking at me you couldn’t tell, I don’t drive a fancy car, my apartment is small and simple and I wear what’s comfortable and utilitarian. And all of that gave me power over myself.

I heard this way back university days... How others stereotyped us, fine arts students... "They laugh at us because we are different. We laugh at them because they are all the same." 😁
You know, there was a time when I felt compelled to cooperate with others demands, now, not so much. This resonates with me, thanks for the video.

I've enjoyed your perspectives for a few months now. Thank you for continuing to publish content relevant to living authentically. 👍
I wish the best for you!!
@Barbara Clay. Thank you, Barbara for your response. You may want to try an alternate eating style. AIP Peleo is one that shows results, and an avoidance of all grain products. Also, a Functional Medicine Dr. may be of help...just a suggestion. Thanks, again.

I agree totally! And not before it's time either.
Not giving af is boring but really beneficial in the scope of clearing your mind. Its like a needed mentality to develop cause it’s so peaceful. Anyone understand me?
It's freedom. Nothing boring about that.
You can’t have togetherness, without these four things! Friendship, and Unity, Caring, And Kindness is what I see…Jingleheimer Junction c.’98
I've had to "let go" of the regrets and move on with my life, having learned to start taking better care of #1.
social events can be amazing, just to chat ideas, concepts, bullshit, whatever with strangers, acquaintences or friends. it's nice to be with people sometimes. and it's nice to not attach any desire to fit in or be popular at these events. also nice to practice non judgementality of others, and to see the world from a bit of a different perspective
every situation is an opportunity to learn and grow and exist :D

"If you're part of a group, a way to counterattack herd behaviour is doing the direct opposite. If everyone wears sneakers, wear loafers. If everyone orders beer, order a soda." - I disagree with doing things differently just for the sake of being "outside". You should do what's best for you, regardless of other people. If sneakers and beer are what you really want, go for that. The idea is to look at "why" you're choosing those things - to fit in or because they fit you?
These were suggested exercises to help you learn the stoic mindset, not rules on how you should always conduct yourself.
Your group should be supportive - if they aren't, maybe they really aren't your group.
you know what? when you say Thank you for watching it made me re think and my mind tells me to watch more of your videos because i can't even remember when was the last time someone said me thank you for the things i have done for others. and for this, THANK YOU!!!
You are such a breath of fresh air , thankyou for being you 🤓
Just realize that life is short, a few hundred years from now nobody will even remember you unless you did something extraordinary for the human race. So fuck it all and do what makes you happy. Im also trying my best to do what makes me happy without fearing what people think of me. Godspeed
I love how ur personal experiences reflect ur philosophical epiphanies. The raw realness is refreshing and relatable. Thank u for ur gutso to embrace urself and the reality of well .. life.
how I have learned to approach life is simple:
Think deeply about how you want your life to be, in every way.
Create a plan of how you might get there, once you find the most effective way, do it. Learn as you go, this way you're never bothered by the trivial things most people are so easily shaken by.
Thanks for making these videos, every few months I need to come back because I fall out of my routine.
I never "fit in" in my family, so I never have given a f**k at all---I had so much practice at home.
This is one of the best video of your channel brother .
In my adult years I’ve subscribed to the idea of Flow.. and ever since I have literally floated through life without a care in the world not giving a fuck about anything. It’s great because you cannot be defeated by anyone once you stop caring.
I am a free thinker and a free spirit. I am independent of others and don't need validation from others. I AM VALID UNTO MYSELF!
Thats the best advice i had in a long time
You described a lot of things that I seem to have practiced for a very long time.
Yeah! Great, with you I will feel comfortable. Thank God for people like you.
Your content is pure gold. Thank you for this, you are helping me a ton !
I’m delighted to find that I’m more Stoic than I imagined. Through the recognition that ‘no thing is a thing’, I’ve been able to ditch so much unnecessary baggage that I gleefully couldn’t care less about anything other than simply being here now.
Just finished watching the big lebowsky. Your video fitted in perfectly just after : )
Nice one !
Your singular wit is an oasis for thirsty minds, my thanks.
@@mmsquiggles :) ...I know what you mean, looking presentable is always better than...and so on and so on...I agree, but it has happened to me to get "questioned" why I was and even too "posh"...by my "girlfriend".

I f###ing love this channel!!!
I love this video I've been telling people this for years I don't care about what people think about me
The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.
6:43 I've never related to a UA-camr this much before! It's good to know I ain't mad to feel this way!
Anytime negative or intrusive thoughts enter my mind i just repeat my mantra of, "Shut the f**k up."
Do what you love, be good to people, just be you, breath.
It's just a practice bruv
Society puts so much pressure and has its own definition of "perfection" to everyone right now and its rare to find someone who goes the other way around. Just be yourself. Be your own authentic, genuine self. Stay safe ❤️
It’s not your business what others think of you because it’s an element that’s apart of the external world which is outside our control.
Why cant elements of the external world that are out my control be my business?
I suppose you could make them your business. The only question is can you make yourself happy when the elements don’t live up to your standards. That’s when the elements or the external world our out of your control.

I gave up giving a flying f*** along time ago and all my friends do to but we do help each other !
This channel somehow always has the right solution for me. It's just a matter of time until it reaches 1 million subscribers
J
Then don't do it. But I think anyone who understands the video should do it.
