Hi Guys, i have applied the Saphir cream and then rather too eagerly applied wax polish over the top before the cream is completely dry. This causes the wax to form a granular consistency and is very difficult to polish to a shine. Don't make my mistake and let your layers cure before applying the next product. Sorted it out now but took a lot of elbow grease. Great Vid Ash. These products are great, just let 'em dry!
Love these shoe waxing videos which are my favourite its nothing relaxing more than polishing shoes in the woods also love the smell of shoe polish when I walk into a shoe repair shop smells like heaven smell of waxes is so addictive. Thanks for Great video ash would like more of these please👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤
Now it's time to practice mirror shine as one cannot use leather shoes outside with all that snow and pouring rain. BTW pouring rain great would be a presentation about rain gear like trenchcoat, galoshes and of course James Smith & Sons umbrellas (or the like for folks on a budget) . Cheers
I love your shoe videos. Great job on those shoes. I like how you explain the processes and how each of the shoe product works. Hope to see more from you soon!
An absolutely pleasure to watch. And a job done 👍🏻 I’ve not tried to build up the mirror shine quite like you have shoved, but I will. I use a nylon stocking to complete the last finish. It gives ‘off’ a powerful friction and create a very high gloss. Thank you for this new input, I can certainly use it I my routine 🙏🏻 Have a lovely weekend - Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰
Waiting for my first pair of Loakes to arrive after watching your videos, Ash. You have made me appreciate and remember how relaxing bulling a pair of shoes can be. Keep up the good work its much appreciated
A very helpful video! I have a pair of monk straps that need this overhaul, been procrastinating on it, and this inspired me to pull them out and get on with it.
Great video. The quality of a mirror shine seems contingent on the quality of the leather on the toe. Cheaper leather is not as smooth, for starters, though I can get close to a mirror shine and enough to evoke comments. I find that the colder the water on the cotton (I use cotton balls), the better. Helps harden the wax.
Great video again! I recently picked up a pair of Cheaney Harrington black cap toe oxfords with Danite sole. I was leaning towards the Alfreds, but I got the Harringtons on sale and with a discount code for 1/2 the price of the Alfreds so the savings was beneficial to the pocket book. I was also considering the Loake Aldwych or sourcing something of quality on eBay and polishing up with some Saphir products, but for 159 pounds, a new Cheaney shoe made good sense to me. Your advice and recommendations from this channel were very helpful in the decision. Thank you!
Hello Ash just polished my first pair of shoes by learning from your lessons, they look great! Also became a big fan of saphir products thanks for tips. I was just wondering if I could also nourish and main my leather jackets and coats? Best Regards from sunny Portugal
Thanks for an interesting and informative video. Very impressed with simple technique for mirror gloss toes, although my preference is to only polish my black dress Oxfords this way, as I think brown brogues look better with an even overall finish.
I have a pair of expensive blue leather sneaker from Russell & Bromley! I applied white sapphire crème surfine and it wouldn’t polish off! Should I use Renomat to remove the crème? Another great video Ash.
Very good tips on the color of polish. I’ve bought some Allen Edmonds in the past year and have just used clear Safir products because I wasn’t sure which color to use and they’re pretty expensive to just experiment with color. I’m curious about the soles. They look to have many years left and you said you’ve worn them regularly for 3-4 years. I love the idea of lasting soles.
The Dainite sole will typically outlast the leather equivalent at a ratio of about 3:1 on average. I prefer Dainite for the longevity, but also the water resistance in my damp country. I rarely buy leather sole shoes these days, unless it is for the most formal of situations.
Im very concerned to use this renomat. After you finished the cleaning the leather looked very dry. Im worried to harm the lether with it. After you used the renovator the lether looked ok.
Honestly....i think i kind of perferred how they looked before you applied the renomat. Like you mentioned, the color imperfection seems to add more depth. Just my personal opinion
The difference was night and day. Well done.
Superb outcome! Quite an improvement over your previous experimentation and far more elegant for a gentleman like yourself, well done.

It definitely feels like one of my 'happy place' activities. Like watching the TV in front of a roaring fire with the cat on your lap.
Thank you.
Important steps to looking Sharp.
I usually clean and moisturize the sole of my shoes. Great job done in this pair of shoes.
You've inspired me to get my Loakes out and give them a clean up.. Reno mat ordered!

So true! I may well address the smart rainwear topic - lord knows its a problem I have faced often enough as a resident of the UK
Serious umbrellas, essential UK style.

Hope you enjoy them. Great value for money!
As always a top video tutorial 👍
I have always thought that slight color value differences denote time, wear, and love... life itself. Perhaps I live too much in the past.
Ash what an amazing transformation. Makes me wish I had a pair to redo. Great video very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Ron

The results are always worth the labour.
I tend to use white spirit instead of renomat, but it needs a bit longer for the leather to dry before I start conditioning the shoe. Great post.
Nail varnish remover also works a treat - and is cheaper than Reno Mat
Some top tips 👍

Great overview, thank you.

Cheaney are a great choice and first class shoe, especially with the practicality of that Dainite sole. Let us know how you get on with them.
Inspiring video! Time to give my double monks a new look 😎
Go for it!
Thank you sir for the information

I tend to agree, I do not usually mirror-shine my casual brown shoes, but this is the pair I use for more formal activities.
Would love to see a video showing how you polish your Burgundy boots
I'll do one soon - not worn them too much this year.
@@TheChapsGuide I've brought a pair after seeing them in your videos, excellent boots! Looking forward to getting out in them.

What a great vid you made today
Can the renovator be applied over polish? Without needing to strip it?
Great video ! Can you recommend a stockist for the mirror gloss ?
I buy from online avenues normally. They last years, so it is a rare requirement.

Brilliant video Ash, those shoes are beautiful! Would you recommend using this process whenever you buy used shoes?
Yes, definitely
What is the brush you use?
Always interesting content Ash…keep it up.
A 100% horse hair brush purchased for £16 from a shoe repairs & supplies store in Lower Marsh Street in South London.
@@TheChapsGuide thanks Ash. 👍
Saphir is a ver good Pomade i love it ,your Video is very good sir.
Im very concerned to use this renomat. After you finished the cleaning the leather looked very dry. Im worried to harm the lether with it. After you used the renovator the lether looked ok.
It should not harm the leather, always treat the leather after use with a conditioning cream to avoid dryness.
@@TheChapsGuide ok thank you

What brand and type of shoe trees do you prefer?
As long as they are cedar and under £25, I do not really discriminate between brands.
👏👏👞
