I pre-ordered this shifter a few weeks ago. Really excited for it as a H-pattern enthusiast. Thanks for this in depth look!
Great review, MVH studios do make some great stuff.
Just paid for mine, can't wait for it to arrive in a couple weeks!
This is the stuff! I'm out of sim racing for quite some years (csw v2 days) and am checking the market to get in again. I dreamt about something like this. Although it's expensive for a shifter, it could be worth it for me.
Thanks for the detailed test!
I am pretty grateful for my break from the hobby. I was racing on a Logitech Driving Force GT from 2012 until life pulled me away in 2019. I return to find that DD wheelbases are widespread, and affordable. Loadcell pedals are the norm, and so much more. The last 5 years has been very kind to this industry (e-sports money helps). None of this is making it easy for me to save my money though...
Man number 18 on the waitlist !!!!
One of Peter Isherwell’s greatest creations
The H-Shifter of our dreams! Nothing can match the realism this one can offer.
I want to experience this at least once in life and I can become a true petrolhead. :)
Really cool tech, but a shame about the insane price, and reverse being so awkward to engage.
I’m quite interested to see how they evolve the design. But for now I’ll be sticking with my VNM.
I enjoy progress in simracing technology and this is progress. With all those touching points it would be interesting to see how long they last. How easy is it to replace these parts
They last very long. The first prototype units are around since 2020, still going strong. Warranty is no questions asked. If the user agrees, he is allowed to replace parts themselves.
While I like the concept of the lock out but this is knocking on the likes of BDH and sim pro money. My money would be going with BDH. Great review by the way 👍
Yeah, this thing looks fun, but I don’t imagine it would feel as good as my Bdh does. And the 3d printed elements put me off as it is such an expensive product.
OMG I just checked the price. When you said expensive, I thought $400-$500 USD, maybe $550...It's $1400+ lol.
Please make a review on that aliexpress handbrake I see next to the shifter! I’ve been looking at that one thinking it looks good!
Damn, that thing sounds nasty!
I want one of these so bad it's not even funny. I've got an SHH Shifter but the idea of having that active feedback is another level. I'll never be able to afford this though, unfortunately.
Oh Boy the Inside is just standard parts from a hardware store with very cheap lasercut metal plates.
the material cost for this shifter is around 50-80€ bucks.
I should be able to easily reproduce it.
I need their software and a shifter and I can fully reengineer it and then let a local shop build it since I don’t have Workshop anymore
@@rolux4853yeah most of the cost here is probably r & d and configuring the software. It looks like relatively cheap materials given the price
I wish he could scale up the production and maybe lower the cost somewhat.
I just got the bashpro and it used to lock the gears and now it doesn’t I’m not sure what settings I need to make it active again
Thanks for the video. This shifter is so interesting. I just wish it wasn't so incredibly loud and clanky sounding. The way to get into reverse is pretty terrible. There should be another slot for reverse. They should have made it an 8-slot H-pattern with a safety thing for going into reverse like having to press down (like on some real cars and the Fanatec shifter). Not a huge deal but the current method is so incredibly unnatural; move the shifter all the way to the left-hand edge, then all the way to the right-hand edge, then go into 6th gear. Still though, I want it!
Shouldnt gates open up at correct rpm allowing clutchless shifts with correct rpm matching
Yes it does that. They’re is different modes
How does the MME compare to something like this? Thank you!
I haven't tried that shifter, so I couldn't say.
How does the shifter behave when downshifting.
Does it allow to shift out to neutral without the clutch, as in a real car ?
Does it block the Rear Gear, when moving forward, does it block the 1st gear, when speed or rpm is too high?
Does it allow to shift out to neutral without the clutch, as in a real car? YES
Does it block the Rear Gear, when moving forward? NO
Does it block the 1st gear, when speed or rpm is too high? Only in dog box mode.
I have a question.
If you train a certain game, a certain vehicle
Will it be automatically called when I close the game and restart it?
I wonder if every vehicle in the game that supports SimHub is automatically called in
Yes, it saves it for each game/car.
I would order this without a second thought, if the mechanical execution would be better..
It’s a good design, but it lacks the real mechanical feel the way its build and it’s to expensive for the way it is mechanically build..
There is no doubt the features of this h-shifter are something very unique, however for nearly £1000 it just doesn't look that special in my honest opinion. Good review Sim Racing Corner
I agree. The materials don’t look significantly better than cheaper shifters. And the sound it make when shifting seems hollow and a bit cheap.
I use Dirt Rally 2 with a H-shifter, and it really spoils the fun when I shift in, but the gears are not in, in the game, but I felt no
For some reason, simhub does not report a failed shifting through bass shakers, so I have really no haptic feedback of failed mechanics.
My complete rig all included built up month after month has reached about a price of 20K,
so I do not bother about that price considering those of Simucube, Asetec, Cubecontrols,
when they really do their job you quickly forget about the price.
When they do their job, they melt into the Rig, they are part of the car and don't raise your attention anymore while racing.
I bought a cheap TH8A shifter, modded it all on my own, by adding tensions and resistance forward AND laterally, but recently, it disconnects during racing, so here I am discovering a great developing.
I gladly pay for their engineering time before they went into slow production... as it is not currently available...
Too bad they are not making many of these anymore, been on the waiting list for 5 months now, still waiting...
Maybe check your spam mail I was able to put a deposit on it but the mail was sent to spam
It needs some type of dampener to eliminate metal to metal contact as real car shifters barely has any metal clanking or noise.
You are talking about road cars. My track car (MX5 NB) most definitely is metal to metal.
@@808GT I'd like to hear your car shift
Why does it have to make so much noise, I still don't understand why brands do this, and the size of the device is still a disaster too
checked the price and nope lol
Can't imagine what I'd use the H box for, some sort of vintage racing? Even in the last generation of H shifting Nascar, shifting is not really much of a thing, and everything I sim drive is either paddle or sequential...
I like driving sports cars with h pattern shifters. Not many racing series which use them, and tbh I prefer flappy paddles when racing, but i also really enjoy throwing street cars with h shifters around asetto corsa. It's fun.
If you play something like ams2, most non-f1 cars have manual gearboxes and this allows you to drive them authentically
@@Rmagid never tried ams2. perhaps I'll give it a shot as doing some vintage racing could be fun. I'm not sure that there are ANY H-shifter cars left in iRacing, which is mostly what I drive 🙂
@@Rmagidthe F1 classics, Gen1 - Gen3, use H Patterns
I'm not paying that much for 3D printed parts. That gate motor is going to be problematic too. Cool idea, poor execution.
Why is the gate motor going to be problematic? The dev team has had these units working for 4 years.
MVH Studios makes top quality products, and outs them through lots of testing before even putting them on sale. Plus they do smaller batches for quality control. This isn't fanatec were talking about.
Id def rather get a shh shifter for a quarter of the price.
