      I have 4 Seikos and 1 Tissot. I love all my Seiko watches, but if I could keep only one, I'd pick my Tissot over my Seikos or a Citizen.
      My Seikos:
      Sarb033
      Cocktail Time (Ice Blue)
      5KX (with custom bezel)
      SNKL23
      My Tissot:
      Gentlemen Powermatic (Blue dial)

    I bought the normal one with a green dial. Different league, than any of my Seikos. Titanium is awesome. This is the first time I've experienced having a full titanium watch and I have to say, that I can't imagine going back to stainless steel from now on.

    Beautiful chronograph! Citizen doesn't take a back seat to anyone in their price ranges. They make the most accurate watch. They make the best solar. They make great automatic movements via Miyota. I have an Eco-Drive and it is a nearly perfect watch. Citizen - for those who know. Cheers!

    To me, titanium is the best material to make a watch out of. I just don't get the notion that weight equals quality. Citizen were the first company to use titanium, so they do have a considerable amount of experience with it now, hence this great looking piece Jody has. Tempting.

    • @DonaldJoeKennedy
      @DonaldJoeKennedy Місяць тому +1

      Nope. There's barely any green at all in that blue. The only way that color can be classified as "teal" is by looking at a teal spectrum chart and going all the way to the left, and then having camera/displaying issues. It's at most turquoise. It's nice, don't get me wrong. It's just not teal is all. Peace. 🙂

Seiko my favourite from that trio, but the light weight of the Citizen would make it more suited to my skinny wee wrists. I have the automatic version and I love it. The "white" dial is really more of a silver, it kind of goes back and forth depending on how the light hits it. The alternating brush and polish on the bracelet makes it catch light in a fantastic way as it moves.
    The only change I'd make is give it the Tsuyosa small seconds dial layout--dateless with small seconds at 6 o'clock instead of the asymmetric design.

    This makes a lot more sense to me than those Chinese mechanical chronographs, I wouldn't have to donate any organs to maintain this lol. I'm not enthused about the chunkiness or titanium, but I'd love to get SOME sort of solar chronograph from Citizen or Seiko.

    • @P_Ezi
      @P_Ezi Місяць тому +1

      A mechanical Chrono would be fun, and those are just not affordable except from China But if there's a problem, it will probably have to be pitched.
      Chronographs are just not practical when run from regular batteries. They eat batteries rapidly if you actually make all those hands do something regularly. I am speaking from experience.
      So solar is the right answer for chronos, unless one wants to spend a pile of money.

    I'm wearing a Citizen now. Great value, well made, an easy equation. They don't need to chase Seiko and others, they just need to keep making their own quality items. There are a lot of models that have caught my eye recently. They also make some really functional dive watches. Love the eco-drive. They seem to be making some really good looking dials as of late and are seemingly getting out of the habit of overcrowding the dial.

    Best value watch on the market now. Titanium and textured dial. Two things you don't get from Seiko for this price. If I could have any new watch I would take this in the ecodrive non Chronograph form. I despise 99 percent of watches because of their weight. Most watches feel like wearing a cellphone or mountain bike to me. So this is one of the only watches I would buy other than nordgren or skagen and actually wear it.

    Love citizen. They make designs that appeal to me more than seiko.

    Ben’s Watch Club did a test on the duratect coating… it fared no better than 316L SS from memory so the only real benefit you’re getting from the Ti in this instance is the weight reduction 🤷‍♂️

      Isn't that supposed to be the point of the coating: To hopefully make titanium at least close to stainless steel in long term wear?
      I have seen plenty of titanium watches that just looked awful after a few years. I would be very impressed if a treated or coated titanium could do as well as stainless steel.
      I still do not trust that this is truly and practically possible.

      No, there is also the benefit of less allergenic properties. The nickel in S/S does cause allergies. Ask me how I know.

      Ok. That is fair. I believe most people that I have heard from who buy titanium are looking for lighter weight.
      Like I said, titanium has always had a bad association in my mind with watches that looked nice when new but looked absolutely destroyed after a few years.
      I should think you would be very happy to get titanium that holds up as well as stainless steel.

    It is hard to judge just how good Citizen watches are as they keep the best ones for the JDM only. I suspect many potential buyers are like me and just will not take the risk of buying JDM due to warranty / servicing problems.

    So when are we getting an Erebus Ascent in 36 mm? My suggestions for colorways are Salmon, Tiffany, and Lavender in addition to the enamel colors of the 39mm version.

    Citizen do some seriously good watches and they seem more professional than Seiko.The QC is spot on! I have the Titanium 'Ray Mears' field watch and it's amazing. Monobloc, light, plenty of WR and a very sturdy yet wearable Kavlar strap (also comes with Titanium bracelet but costs 5o quid more). Subtle watch and no one would know how complex it is. Citizen have really embraced Titanium and are doing great things with it! Thanks Jody. And I do think the watch looks good on you.

    Love Eco-Drive but not a chrono fan. I do like the look of the 40mm day/date version - AW0130.

    I've only been interested in watches for a few years now and I've never quite understood where the hype for Seiko came from. I have several Eco-Drive watches from Citizen and every single one works flawlessly, including my favorite Nighthawk. Meanwhile, the first solar I bought from Seiko had a dead battery, and after replacing it lasted a year and then died again. My friend also had problems with Seiko quality. And when I wanted to buy a Willard reissue and checked the price - 1200 EUR, I fell off my chair. Seiko is either having a laugh or draining our wallets, while Citizen simply offers great watches. The choice for me is obvious.

    This has been my thought for a few years (citizen=value and Seiko hit and miss), since covid started really, when I bought a couple Seiko's in a wine infused haze during lockdown, and they were sup par, mis aligned, varying bezel friction, expensive, etc....the Citizens I picked up were perfecto. Ill always have a Monster and a Samurai, (the classics) but nothing new in years has excited me at Seiko. I could see Seiko ebb and flow in quality over the years since the late 90s. The crystals, the alignments, the finish were all excellent when I got into watches, then mid 2000's I noticed the same Chrono's with inferior crystal, hit and miss dials, just cheaper feeling all around. I think they have picked their game up now that all the watch geeks converge and collaborate. But, as you mentioned, the price tier has changed dramatically. Thus, the Citizen has a nice niche to fill.
