Loved my logitech G5 that worked perfectly for "over a decade" and I also love its replacement the G502 I bought it in early 2016. I only replaced the G5 because I wanted something newer. As for the G502 since purchase, there have been zero operational issues with thousands of hours well into the double digits for use. The G502 still works perfectly like the day I bought it. People say this is a heavy mouse and I honestly see no difference coming from the older version. In fact I will say the weight provides more traction to assist with stopping unlike a light mouse that will over extend slightly. (I use a black razor diamond coated hard mouse pad to aid in several tracking areas) I love everything about the G502 and the wireless version is neat. But it is not double the price neat and will only reduce performance if the bluetooth plug is far away. Which in these tests the bluetooth connection is always very close to the mouse. So either your tower is directly next to your mouse within inches or it's on a wire anyway. I will also say a wired mouse has no noticeable drag long as you give the cord some slack near the mouse. My only complaint over the design is the cloth braiding around the cord. Logitech just can't make a quality braid for their cables as several of their products have the same issues. Eventually there will be a hole and the wire will push out. You can tape the hope or just cut the braid otherwise the wire will kink there and eventually expose wire ruining it. This is a problem for any braided cords. Plus it collects a ton of dust. Hope you enjoyed my 2 cents on this quality product and I would definitely buy another wired G502 if this one ever breaks.
Mine recently died, was the best mouse i have ever had. Now i have the 502 and i love it aswell. Actually i just bought a second one and im kicking my butt as there is a wireless version now.
I like the g502 because of the scroll wheel and the thumb button. both i use extremely regularly, because I've remapped the middle mouse button to the thumb, it just feels so natural.
@@thesoopersooper dude this mouse is so expensive for a wireless mouse, the reason people bought the g502 was because it was cheap and good, having it be twice the price is just dumb

The Logitech G502 in any form, is hands down, the best high performance mouse Ive ever used. Its got all the benefits of a high performance gaming mouse, but the durability of a workhorse. I use different grips depending on whether im gaming, surfing or working, and its good for all positions. Its got enough buttons to helpful, but not so many that you end up doing random stuff by accident. The best recommendation I can give is that I just bought my second one, and the old one is still working just fine after 6 years.
@@Michael-ex8lk Maybe I just got lucky, but I've had the same G502 since the 2014 release and haven't had any issues with it. Aside from the grips being worn down from use
I have a Logitech Proteus spectrum and I can say that even without the weights in it is too heavy to get an actual upperhand in competitive gaming. I would recommend getting the Glorious model O. Better than final mouse and only $49.99. You could compare it to final mouse but final mouse is only better by being 7g lighter, other than that the model O does everything else better such as Max Dpi, comforbility, variation of colors and rgb, and htz. Plus final mouse products are $240+ because ninja signed his name on it and they are milking it by being a low stock company.
glad to see im not the only one i rather dislike the feel of some of the newer gaming mice , too small and light , even my g600 feels too light and could be a bit larger

When I got my first laptop, my cousin lent me his G502 Hero that he used to use (he currently using a G903) and I fell in love with it. A year later, I returned it because I bought my own 502 Lightspeed and just arrived about 30 minutes after it arrived in the mail. So far, so good.
Same here since the launch, the only thing to report is the braiding on the cable starting to deteriorate, but they fixed it with the hero and this one I guess
There's another reason to be wary of the G502: *the Omron switches fail prematurely.* The "mechanical life" specification for the switches is totally bogus because it is based on no-load testing which does not mimic real life. The Omron switches for the primary buttons in my G903 began to fail after 7 months. A single click would fire a double-click instead. And the primary switch would suddenly release in the middle of a drag. Logitech replaced my mouse with another new G903 and the same thing began to happen after only 6 months. I'm very careful with the mouse, I have a gentle touch and am never heavy-handed with the mouse. Doing research on the internet revealed that other G903 _and_ PRO users are having the same trouble. My concern with the G502 is that it will also have the problem. Logitech offered to replace my G903 again, but my patience was gone. I discovered that Logitech uses the Chinese version of the Omron switches. I purchased the Japanese version from Digi-Key and replaced the switches, myself. This was a fairly detailed procedure. The disassembly of the mouse requires many steps. The two most difficult tasks were prying out the soft Li-Po battery without damaging it and removing the old switches. You must be extremely careful not to overheat or damage the tiny circuit boards when you de-solder the old switches -- and you must have a very good solder sucker. When installing the new switches, you must be extremely careful not to overheat them when you solder them -- the soldering iron cannot be too hot, you must be quick (less than 10 seconds) and each switch must be allowed to cool after each pin is soldered (before soldering the next pin). Since replacing the switches with Japanese-made Omrons, the mouse has worked extremely well. The Japanese switches are made to a higher standard (better internal design, tighter tolerances, less dust can get into the switches, and the operating force is more consistent). But replacing the switches isn't a job for a novice -- you need serious mechanical and soldering skills. I also have a PowerPlay wireless charging mouse pad. If it weren't for the switch problem, this would be the nicest mouse I've ever used (I used a Sensei MLB for several years before switching to the G903).
Couldn't have summarized the issue better myself. Logitech should be ashamed for trying to save a few cents on a cheaper switch on what is supposed to be a premium mouse!
My almost 3 year old G600 is now exhibiting this behavior. I admit this new mouse is very tempting, even more so with a mouse that's starting to fail. That being said, how would I go about looking for a different mouse with proper, well made switches?
150 is a little steep. especially since the g502 special edition is only 30 bucks on amazon. Literally the same mouse but the wire makes it 1/5 the price. I will stick with this until the g502 lightspeed is under 100.

Ive been using G602 years now, and while i love it im gonna buy this new wireless G502. Its better in almost every way and wireless always has that premium price.
I've also used G602 for years now and I love it so much. But I do want a lighter and better latency mouse.... Only issue is that the wireless G502 doesn't have as many programmable buttons. Edit: it does have the same amount of buttons if you count the mouse wheel as 3 (mouse wheel left, right and down are all programmable). I will therefore think a bit more on this
I love my G502 and I like heavy mice. I have all of the weights in mine because it make it feel more "steady" if you know what I mean. I also have big, heavy hands so that's probably another reason. If the wireless version wasn't close to $90 over what I paid for this one (sale many years ago) I'd absolutely switch though.
honestly i love this mouse so much, and i've always preferred a heavier mouse for gaming, but since switching to the Razer Viper Ultimate my world has been changed. Its not a huge weight difference but its definitely lighter. I much prefer the design and feel of the G502 though, fits my hand way better.
I recently got mine as an upgrade to my Proteus Core so I can finally stop traveling with the cable. I just hope the middle click wouldn't die on me as quickly as it did for my old G502, their choice of using a small smd tact switch as opposed to a mechanical switch like every other button on the mouse definitely shortens this mouse's lifespan. I managed to solder on a new switch but all I could find were so heavy to press that I'd press the side scroll buttons too, good luck finding one that's as light to press on as the oem switch. As for the micro usb port, I can definitely live with carrying an extra cable around and I already trimmed down an old micro usb cable to fit the mouse so I never have to bring (and risk losing) the original cable. And as of the price, I got it brand new for ~$100, and I personally love this mouse from form factor to button options/placements so it's an investment that I'm happy to make, plus the inclusion of powerplay support definitely adds some futureproofing to this, assuming Logitech doesn't kill it by the time I can afford it. 'Cause unless/until it breaks, I don't plan on getting anything other mouse anytime soon. P.S. make the scroll wheel programmable
Or just buy glorious o for 50 dollars and it doesnt weigh as much with probably better fps experience. Another $100 is too much to ask for just to remove the wire.
@@internetperson5445 You love the Arctis until you sell them for Beyerdynamic DT770s, or any other actual pair of real headphones, which was probably one of the best decisions I made.
Ever since I built my rig and had enough money for peripherals. I immidietly begun looking for heavy mice bcs I thought they're like very cool, very nice to use and just feel much more heavy duty and the overall feel is better. Playing nearly any game where you are the one moving aroudn the camera or tank turret.. Warthunder/Fallout even OSU! has been a much more fun experience than with a mouse that jumps around and I can barelly tell I'm holding something.
I had weights strategically placed in my G5 towards the front, and I initially placed every given weight in my G502 Spectrum as well. For some reason, no matter how deep I pressed in the weights, the cover wouldn't close properly and would scrape along my mouse pad, so I ditched the weights altogether (after months of just ditching the cover instead). I have a Lightspeed on its way and I look forward to seeing what a slight weight decrease is going to be like (aided by a lack of drag from the cord as well) as I think I'm starting to really shift towards a lighter feel. My weightless G502 already feels really heavy to me now (although a weightless G5 feels like paper by comparison, as if it's going to fly through my finger tips just from pulling a 180 in-game. I can't go that light).
One year later... and my co-worker pointed out my tweet is in this video. Happy my purchase of the G903...but my woes of not getting a wireless G502 are forever immortalized in this video.
I still love the G502, I always felt that light mice feel cheap and nasty, the G502 feels sturdy AF in comparison and after owning it for a couple of years I still love it. It does everything far better than my previous Razer Lachesis that I bought in 2011 which felt about the same weight so I think I'm going to be keeping the g502 for a long time to come

@@kurapika5693 I never got the issue myself on my G502 Proteus Spectrum but one of my friends bought the G502 HERO in 2019 that had the issue within a couple of months, as far as I know there was a QC issue with the Omron switches around that time, my friend just did an RMA when the double click showed up and received a new one which is still fine to this day. I can't guarentee it won't be a problem but Logitec does have a notoriously generous 3 year warranty where they'll just send you a replacement straight away without needing to send the broken product back 😂 At the end of the day just go for whatever feels best, and if you already have a Razer keyboard for example it'd be silly to get a Logitec mouse and have to install 2 programs to customise them

Yet I don't regret any of those purchases because subjectively it just feels better. I sit comfortably, the smooth motion in games is a treat I am not able to ever give away again and my rgb puking mouse just looks nice on the desk. So was it "worth it"?
It's like buying an expensive car: You really don't ever need a Porsche or Mustang or Model S but driving one still feels pretty damn nice.
@@christophmayer3991 That's the point.

It's good for that too.
honestly i love this mouse so much, and i've always preferred a heavier mouse for gaming, but since switching to the Razer Viper Ultimate my world has been changed.
You already have a mouse.
Do I win?
No. A $5 dollar garbage bin mouse and a $150 high-end mouse deliver completely different experiences. How much you need is up to you.
Or just buy glorious o for 50 dollars and it doesnt weigh as much with probably better fps experience. Another $100 is too much to ask for just to remove the wire.

Logitech g502 lightspeed
Why the headset?
@@Andy-ho2le I never said it was about mice
@@internetperson5445 yeah, the problem is, the arctis 9x isn't exactly good....
@@Andy-ho2le I've been using steelseries arctis 7 for a long time and I loooove them
@@internetperson5445 You love the Arctis until you sell them for Beyerdynamic DT770s, or any other actual pair of real headphones, which was probably one of the best decisions I made.
I swear I feel like I'm the only gamer out there who likes a heavy mouse. I've never wanted to take any of the weights out of my G502, G9x or G5.
I can't without the weights on g502
same, a light mouse feels cheap to me
I had weights strategically placed in my G5 towards the front, and I initially placed every given weight in my G502 Spectrum as well.
Happy my purchase of the G903...but my woes of not getting a wireless G502 are forever immortalized in this video.
the transition to the sponsor was really unexpectable XD good Linus good one :P
how long have you watch Linus for ? You should've expected it XD
That's what he specializes in...

A looong time ago but this, this time linus got me🤣🤣
@@craftedpixel exactly 🤣
I still love the G502, I always felt that light mice feel cheap and nasty, the G502 feels sturdy AF in comparison and after owning it for a couple of years I still love it. It does everything far better than my previous Razer Lachesis that I bought in 2011 which felt about the same weight so I think I'm going to be keeping the g502 for a long time to come
did you have a problem with the g502's click buttons ? i heard that there's sometimes double-click issue, so i dont know if I buy this one or a razer basililsk
I can't guarentee it won't be a problem but Logitec does have a notoriously generous 3 year warranty where they'll just send you a replacement straight away without needing to send the broken product back 😂
At the end of the day just go for whatever feels best, and if you already have a Razer keyboard for example it'd be silly to get a Logitec mouse and have to install 2 programs to customise them
@@Phantom_Aspekt thanks a lot for your answer ! I think i will buy a logitech G502 HERO
finally bought the lightspeed version. loved the wired version for years. Bought two years ago the g903 with the s**tty microswitches, that failed after 3 months. Than returned that one and bought the g900 with the better quality microswitches. The g900 is a great mouse, almost perfect. But I just missed the 502 ergonomics and I prefer a higher weight, which feels like more value to me. So I just bought the g502 lightspeed and that's it. I think this will be the last mouse I buy unless it breaks (I have some microswitches as a backup, that I could solder back in if they brake). I definitely have a weakness for mice and headphones. Have more of them than I actually need.
i love how on the monitor in the background you can see how the mouse is moving because linus has it in his hand 1:09
I prefer my G602. It's heavy, has a lot of buttons and the battery lasts around a year for me. And It's cheap.
I'm personaly using logitech 402 and I love it.
Have you tried the g503?

@Jake Sombrutzki i can to
@Andrei James its amazing lol the shape fits like perfectly the buttons are so satisfying, only worried about durability bcse the holes seem to let dust on the pcb. also you always need a few weeks to adjust to another mouse, its normal.
@Andrei James if ur not gaming then why even bother xd. Anyway if ur just music sheet editing you must just search one u like ergonomically and ignore all the weight/sensor/rgb gimmick
@Andrei James if you found it amazing, then just buy it again, g402 sure is great to
