    "Ne me basat!" Je ponavadi kar "ne me jebat!"

    • @alestursic961
      @alestursic961 6 місяців тому

      "Ne me basat" bo v primeru prvega Aprila, ko gre za namerno šalo.
      In "ne me jebat" bo v primeru proti moški osebi in v agresivnem nagajanju.
      Oboje je Ljubljanski sleng. Le pristni Ljubljančani smejo to uporabljat, kajti lahko pride do hude zamere.

    Greetings from Carinthia.
    I have a Slowenian phrase in mind but I don't know for certain what it means nor how it's written, maybe you can help me figure it out?
    It sound something like "Chep pochasne". I found the word "počasen", which means "slow" in a dictionary and that chimes with what I think the phrase means, something like "slow down" or "keep calm" I guess.

Actually you would but they would be said in complitly different way. Anyway thumbs up for trying to learn and whatnot.

    You should have also mentioned the origin of the slovene slang word.
    For instance.. Ne me basat. ...Sausages are being stuffed and that's the origin of the sentence. To stuff something beyond its capacity....to shove something into something else means basat. So the translation would be don't shove it to me something I don't already know or I want to know (I think- slavisti pomoč prosim :))

    For me as a croat slovene is somehow confusing. Because some words and phrases (f.e.: Kako si?) are exactly the same. And so are some grammatical rules. But then somes words and there declination and conjugation are totally different. I dont understand how it can be so similar and different at the same time hahah

    “Hudo” means bad, or devilish, “Noro” means crazy, “Lepo” means beautiful, “Res” means truthfully, “Prov” means right, as in “You’re 100% right”, “Top” is not a Slovenian word, but a stolen English word, with the same English meaning. As a Slovene Anglistics student I can tell you that you're both wrong. Both Slovene and Slovenian are correct, Slovenian being considered more informal and Slovene more formal. Slovene should also be used in politics and formal documents. Doesn't matter which one you use, but you should stick to it. Mixing Slovene and Slovenian is the biggest mistake you can do, as the word applies to BOTH nationality and the language.

      No, tudi Gorenjci rečemo "prov" :) Pač punci sta želeli predstaviti enega od načinov kako lahko nekdo zveni kot Slovenec - mission accomplished.

    You used wrong title for the video... Should be "20 phrases Ljublanians use" because that is not correct Slovenian lenguage...it's more like regional accent and is not even near the grammicly correct spelling ... people who will visit Ljubljana can use those words but if you use it out of that region people won't understand you well

      Hi Nyx, well, I think most people understand that this video is not meant to be serious educational content but more of a parody :) So I don't think that foreigners will try to repeat this (maybe some of them will though :) Also, as I mentioned under other comments - we were both based in Kranj at the time of shooting so it's not really Ljubljana accent, maybe just a general informal dialect a lot of people use!

      Possibly but none of us lived in Ljubljana at the time when we made the video. We both lived in Kranj. Maybe this is how people talk in central part of Slovenia?
