Thank you very much for the awesome review, Andrew! We'll eventually release an updated UHK version featuring PBT keycaps, hotswap sockets, per-key RGB backlighting and USB-C. No ETA yet, but feel free to subscribe to our monthly newsletter at the bottom of our site, and we'll keep you updated.
I would love to see an ortholinear UHK, sort of like the Atreus. Not caring about keycaps or lights... the whole point of a good keyboard is that you DON'T have to look at it!
They can add more modules anytime they want, personally though, I think I'd be a waste when you could just use a layer and get used to that Another problem is how the clusters work, because I found it weird they only used 3 keys in the current cluster, so maybe theres a limitation with how many keys they can have
I personally wanted a key cluster for dedicated Brazilian layout specific keys like Ç and dead tilde. Currently using AltGr and Fn on my Anne Pro 2 but it's still too cumbersome
From my experience, you get used to it really quickly. I have my capslock key acting as a function key since I almost never use it, and my IJKL keys are arrow keys on the fn layer
This here is the mentality of every keyboard enthusiast. We try to justify every single purchase, even though we know just one or 2 keyboards are enough LOL
I really wanted to like the trackpoint because it would in theory at least mean that you never had to leave the home row. It just wasn't as functional as a trackpad, mouse or trackball though.
initially i also thought they weren't, (since they're both '"tae" and all) and i always wondered why the voice is softer on tae keyboards, and that he never shows his face on this channel, maybe just his style idk shame to admit it took me a loong while to realize the truth, guess i wasnt the brightest one
At first i thought taekeyboards is copying taeha types, but then I checked seems like hes been around for long time now also, but then I thought why is the name kinda similar?. and then I thought "tae* is shit in filipino language, why tae?,I checked their channel seems like taeha types is being paid by assembling keyboards, which make him more richer, but tae keyboard is not paid, but do hands on builds as well..
Wow, I've been following this thing since they announced it sometime in 2015. I'm glad they didn't go under but it's disappointing they don't have the peripherals yet.
Is it possible to make a custom one similar to this one? I loved the split and the tilting, but its too expensive, specially if you consider changing the switches and the keycaps.
I wish they made a version without switches and keycaps. Probably gonna swap them for PBT + Kailh Box anyway, that is if I could afford the keyboard to start with LOL
Is the tenting angle you show on the video is max height? Hopefully no because its too low. The hand needs to be at least in 45 angle for a keyboard to be ergonomic.
I like these but the modules on the right side should really be placed higher up to use track point, trackball, etc with index finger rather than thumb
Imo, at this price I'd get a fully custom keyboard, you can get the pair of pcb for 20 bucks, case for another 30, plated zinc keys for 100, 30 for the switches, and an atsamd arduino board for the controler, which is yet again 30 bucks, total 210, that's cheaper than that, and can have more functionality (for example, adding an lcd and joystick is fairly trivial).
Wait... Why did they split the left shift when that key is normally on the right side? It's not like it was removed from the right side or anything so why would they split the left shift to put the |\ key there?
These split keyboards look real comfortable but unfortunately I have a weird way of typing of placing my left hand on WASD like a fps game, which does mean that I don't need a right shift key in the correct spot when it comes to laptops etc., but the problem is I always type B with my right hand. Of course I could go for macro keys on the right side of this keyboard and bind it to B but that would mean that I have to give up the mouse pointer control. So my question is, are there any split boards with mouse cursor control out there where I can put the B key on the right side? (don't want the hassle of building one myself)
You said that you don’t use Caps Lock, so my question is do you use the right shift? Since I don’t use caps lock either but somehow I never use right shift
Good day.. Greetings from Philippines.. Just want to ask what keyboard do you recommend for a budget gaming mechanical keyboard for $30 - $40? (including philippine product) Please help me..
I noticed you were remapping some keys. I need this ability, but I need it to save the changes on the board itself, as opposed to only remembering the remap on the PC that you created it on. Do the remap changes get stored inside the keyboard? I need this because I bought a tool for my Playstation that allows me to use a keyboard and mouse instead of the clunky controller, but sadly the keyboard isn't customizable with this new tool. I'm forced to use the dev's default keyboard layout, which doesn't work for me. remapping keys and having that saved within the keyboard itself would be the solution I'm looking for. Does the keyboard in this video do that? If not, any other suggestions?
I honestly was going to joke and make fun of the “hacking” keyboard, but it’s just honestly pretty solid. The lack of arrow keys might be slightly annoying if I want to just move through my script, but it’s not a killer because you could just make a function key and make the wasd your arrow keys. I think I might make something similar to this though since I would want a slightly different layout.
You want one half of a split keyboard? If so you can get this ( keeb.io/collections/frontpage/products/quefrency-60-65-split-staggered-keyboard?variant=16032981385310 ) as well as this ( www.p3dstore.com/shop/quefrency-case-v1 ) if you want a case for it.
It's a very cheap, decently built, full sized kb with cheap keycaps, lighting and Cherry switches. Nothing to write home about. It's pretty nice for the price though.
the question is whether you would want to be an ultimate hacker or a happy hacker
Lemme just smash my hhkb into two and be neither
I want to be happy

ANON Lilly My dad has COVID-19 and we live in an area where 5G hasn’t been deployed yet.
Mitsuko Megumi hope he gets better and you get some fast boi mobile data
I'm really excited to see more properly designed split keyboards. This company seems to be doing it right, along with Mistel (for their budget)

I love it when a company is all about providing info with repair and modding.
I think they missed a big opportunity by not making an arrow cluster module...some of us really like our arrow keys.
imagine reaching for arrow keys. not a hacker.
They can add more modules anytime they want, personally though, I think I'd be a waste when you could just use a layer and get used to that

I'd rather just use a layer that turns jkl; into arrows like VIM cursor controls on Linux.
The ultimate hacking keyboard was a plant all along
Hacking photosynthesis.
Think it was a tor joke.
Maybe a whole other mech would cost $60, but so do most mice, so it makes sense a proprietary one would too.
This here is the mentality of every keyboard enthusiast. We try to justify every single purchase, even though we know just one or 2 keyboards are enough LOL
Please make a video on the keyswitch swapping and soldering of the LEDs.
"Im more of a trackpoint person myself"
Where is the double-like button? :D
Oh, dont need it anymore - "im a caps lock user"
Allumik shift key masterrace?
I really wanted to like the trackpoint because it would in theory at least mean that you never had to leave the home row. It just wasn't as functional as a trackpad, mouse or trackball though.
Tae keyboards and teaha types are different people
Apparently
They definitely are LOL

I’m not clever enough for these replys
I didn't think I needed one of these until I saw the trackpoint module.
will you review the extensions when they release? i'm very interested in them
Wow, I've been following this thing since they announced it sometime in 2015. I'm glad they didn't go under but it's disappointing they don't have the peripherals yet.
So we're not going to talk about the how great the adorable ceramic sloth is?
Is it possible to make a custom one similar to this one? I loved the split and the tilting, but its too expensive, specially if you consider changing the switches and the keycaps.
nice review and refreshing keyboard design.
love your videos, tae! :D
Imagine spending $275+ on a keyboard and getting cheap laser etched keycaps.
Right?? And an additional $60 for fucking arrow keys. Unbelievable.
So close, but they dropped the ball on that one lol.
This is a good video no matter where you are on your journey, from beginning to maintenance.
I wish they made a version without switches and keycaps. Probably gonna swap them for PBT + Kailh Box anyway, that is if I could afford the keyboard to start with LOL
Hotswap pcb and they've got my money
I only want this for the split space layout and how fancy it looks compared to kbdfans stuff
If its possible could you make a video on how to make a mechanical keyboard from parts obtained from a bunch of old mechanical and wireless keyboard.
Oh damn this look really nice! Thanks for the great review.
Love your vids, keep doing what you do.
thanks mate!
Is the tenting angle you show on the video is max height? Hopefully no because its too low. The hand needs to be at least in 45 angle for a keyboard to be ergonomic.
This looks like something I'm looking for! Thanks!
Splitting keyboards is the ideal for tall and long arm people like me, I'm tired of doing the crab to type, need to give them a serious shot.
Aweome thanks! Been looking for a split mech keyboard :)
Tae do be kinda playing wii sports resort at the end
that sneaky constellation sneak preview XD
Tae back at it with the aesthetic content.
the ultimate hacking keyboard
TommyInnit: hacking keyboard is useless
another awesome video. thanks!
Those key caps looks kinda nice
Welcome back buddy.
παστη λακερδα
nice fielding placement.
all out
Heavy mouse clicks? That sounds cool.
I would get an extra macro key module to use as a "sudo/doas" key
I like these but the modules on the right side should really be placed higher up to use track point, trackball, etc with index finger rather than thumb

Hey dude can you please do another review of their later model with PBS + backlighting + etc?
May you review Dygma keyboard?
Hey man are you ever going to get your hands on the Dygma Raise? Would like to see your review on that its quite expensive as i'm from aus also >
10:34 Nice choice on the speakers, are those eris 3.5's or 4.5's?
it would really look nice on a 90's nostaalgic setup
What’s the 80’s style video you had playing in the background during the switch sound test?
It's the music video for Bad Decisions by The Strokes
Okay... I’m buying this ASAP
Wait... Why did they split the left shift when that key is normally on the right side? It's not like it was removed from the right side or anything so why would they split the left shift to put the |\ key there?
Pls answer this!! What microphone ur using to record keyboard sound ?
hacking deez nuts
i hate how all these split boards have B on the left side lol. Can't do it

Right shift for left side keystrokes, left shift for right hand side keystrokes.

they should also add a module for numpad
@taekeyboards may i know whayt keycaps u r using? for this UHK
Interesting layout, anyone know of a 75 % or below, mx hotswap split pcb and case?
What's up with all the cute pets overlay on the end of the video??? 😂
they are cute
when I saw the plant at the start I thought this was an old april fools video
times are tough, I have built an intimate relationship with my plant.
Man I legit have been up All night. It’s now 6am in Australia. I got a 65% tofu kbdfans case and I haven’t been able to find a pcb that is hotswaped
Say where can you get an acoustic pinboard online and possibly in a small size if they exist?
have you reviewed logitech g910 ?
nop
@@TaeKeyboards please check it out once if possible
You should make a video on your collection and show off every keyboard u have made
nice catch!
oh wow love these split boards very niche but so rad to bit modular sweet!
hope you & yours are good m8

I just got a board with mx clears in it too, it takes a little bit of getting used to coming from using mx blues for the past 5 years

yup!
What switches do you wish you'd gotten?
how is this for hacking? cause you can like sneak it into some facility and plug it in and not need a mouse?

If it had true iso layout I would have bought it straight up. Also now it doesn't support normal keycaps
