    Big sad, I forgot about the canon r10.
    Honesty it is a better than what Sony currently offers. We are basically comparing cameras from 5 years ago from Sony (apsc) to Canons new releases a few months ago (apsc), so yea it’s to be expected.
    If Sony releases an updated zv-e10 mark ii (with a new sensor) vs canon r10? Those would probably be the best cameras for people starting out as they are both IMO generational leaps in technology as they are ditching their recycled sensors.
    So did this video come out a bit late? Yea. With new releases right around the corner, but that ALSO means the sony a6500 used will only continue to drop in price so keep that in mind…

    To get good 1080p from the a6500 in 60fps you have to increase your shutter speed to double instead of 1/125 push it to 1/250 and the 1080p will be sharp and a better quality.

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  Рік тому +2

      that's interesting and I'll definetely check it out, however I believe that "sharpness" would be simple due to less motion blur rather than the actual image getting sharper. Also, I would much rather have natural motion blur following the 180 degree shutter rule rather than having a more jarring image.

      @@OliverCao I find it funny how everyone says the 1080p in the a6500 is soft and is almost unusable when it’s sharper than the 1080p out of the canon 80D at a point in time everyone was amazed by the quality of the 80D 😂😂😂💀💀💀💀 I have an 80D the a6500 1080p out class it by a landslide 😂😂💀💀 and people shot music videos with it , vlogged with , short film 😂😂

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  Рік тому +1

      Yea, that’s fair. I’ve never seen 1080p footage from the 80D and I am comparing 4k to 1080p and it’s hard to unsee 1080p after seeing how good the 4k looks from the a6500. I’m aware that most people with untrained eyes will not notice the difference when viewing on their phones so really it doesn’t matter, especially in social media. It’s more just for those who enjoy getting high quality images out of their cameras.

    The Sony's soft 1080p isn't because of bitrate but because they have to sample 24 megapixels down to 1080p and it uses line skipping as a solution to keep the full width of the sensor.

    I really enjoyed listening to your input! I agree with a lot of what you covered. Now, as for your audio... I beleive I see that you're using a shotgun/directional microphone. Trust me. If you want to get more consistant audio, move your mic a little further away from you (like 2-4 inches) and point it just infront of your face at nose height and point it slightly down toward your chest area. You'll have to turn up your gain a little bit more, but you'll get MUCH more consistant audio levels and you'll avoid a lot of the popping. I like what you're making here. Keep it up!

    Just subbed! I wanted to ask if you are still shooting with the a6500? And if so are you using s-Log to for this talking head vid. Tbh you’ve gotten some of the cleanest footage out of this camera. And it seems as if you’ve brought it’s fullest potential out compared to many UA-camrs using this camera. If you have a vid explaining how to unlock that type of quality out of this camera it be super helpful as I’m just now picking it back up after it collecting dust for about 3 years.
    I’d like to follow your tutorial and really unlock this camera/master it before attempting to upgrade to the a1 ii when it drops lol.

    Hi planning to get the fx30 and to use the a6500 as my B-cam for weddings and music videos etc, will I be able to use them together and colour grade them so the end product looks like I've only used the Fx30, obviously the a6500 I will only use for snippets. Thanks for the video. I'm considering getting a bmpcc 6k pro with a tilta cage for a good price , but have so must lenses for the Sony a6500 which I can probably use on the fx30 so don't want to make a mistake by selling my Sony gear for the 6k pro , and I can almost get the same type of footage from the fx30 matched up with my a6500 and a6000. Also love the built in ND filters in the 6k pro.

      I’d say get an a7IV or a Lumix s5 II. They will last you way longer with stuff like 10 bit. If Autofocus is something you need, go with Sony, otherwise the image quality arguably is better on the Lumix s5 II I think

    In my country a7iii and fuji xt4 have sams price, what do you think better for me , i will use it for photography and cinematography

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  Рік тому +2

      The main differences are that A7iii is full frame but shoots 8 bit and up to 4k 30fps while Fuji XT4 is an APSC camera but can shoot 10 bit 4.2.2 up to 4k 60fps
      In terms of photography, A7iii is probably the best bet since they both shoot raw photos and full frame would always be better for photos.
      In terms of video, It really depends what kind. IF you need good autofocus, A7III. If you want better image quality like 10 bit for more flexibility in color grading and more cinematic filmmaking with manual focus lenses, go with Fuji XT4. If you're filming alot of weddings, I would suggest the 4k 60fps from the fuji XT4. I believe A7iii can do 1080p up to 120fps so if you don't care that much about image quality, go for that!

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  Рік тому +1

      The fx30 has basically everything I’ve been asking for, 10 bit and better rolling shutter performance. But I am still on the fence as I’ve recently come to terms that it’s not all about the camera and learning how to light properly and investing in lighting gear is more important to me. I’ve looked at a bunch of reviews and it looks like a great camera, however it doesn’t seem like THAT big of an upgrade. I feel like I may go for a black magic or the fx3, potentially even the rumoured a7rV if the rolling shutter performance is good!

    • @boomboombaby9140
      @boomboombaby9140 Рік тому

      @@OliverCao i would pick the fx30 over the blackmagic any day because of the auto focus. I borrowed a blackmagic 4k in the past for a music video shoot and it was too much work . I had to choose angles and control every bit of movement. I’m glad I tried it out to help me decide now I own the fx30 I get the same type of quality with the auto focus and could just go crazy with the camera movement.

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  Рік тому +1

      @@boomboombaby9140 that's very true! I held back on getting the Blackmagic solely because of that. Since I am mostly a solo shooter, it's hard to let go of AF at this stage. I'm on the lookout for my first mirrorless camera, upgrading from a DSLR. Currently, I'm considering the Sony a6500 or ZV-E10 (any thoughts on using Catalyst Browse with the ZV-E10?). My budget is around 400-650€ for a used or refurbished model. I'd prefer to stick with Sony for the E-mount, but it's not a deal-breaker if I find a better option elsewhere. My usage is roughly 60% video and 40% photography. It's important to me that the camera has good software and mobile support. I also want it to shoot 4K or higher video with IBIS or gyroscope support and preferably in 10 bit.
    I'm planning to make the purchase around summer, so I'm open to waiting for new releases. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! One last thing: I want to exclude the GH5. I know it's a great camera for the price and can shoot in 10-bit, but the Micro 4/3 sensor and poor autofocus don't suit my type of content, if the GH5 is only option in this price segment, then i might as well just pick it up.

    • @OliverCao
      @OliverCao  2 місяці тому +1

      Zve10 and the a6500 essentially has a the same image quality. It has better AF and a flip out screen, but if you’re doing 40% photography the a6500 with the view finder is gonna be a huge help. I wish my fx3 had one so I could just take basic photos of social media. Def a6500 if you want a good time taking photos! neither of them will shoot in 10bit, I don’t think the zv e10 has IBIS either so that’s a huge plus
