Dolphinaria-Free Europe interview with former Marineland Antibes & SeaWorld orca trainer John Hargrove, during which he talks about his time working at the French marine entertainment park from 2001-2002. This interview was conducted following the flooding of Marineland Antibes, which resulted in the deaths of some of the animals in captivity at the park, including captive-born Icelandic orca 'Valentin.'

(direct comment to John) John Hargrove is the best guy I know. I don't know him personally, but if I did, I know he would be one the most understanding friends I would ever had. And I feel Johns pain about Val's death. I feel every bit of it. I knew who Val was. I've met Val. before. And John, if you are reading this right now, I want you to know that you me, and everyone in this movement, will stand behind you. We will support for everything you stand for. And I know for a fact that Takara, Val, and all of the other Orcas you worked with miss you. And I know for a fact that you miss them back. We will fight until the end. We will not back down. We will stand our ground and no one can stop us.

John Hargrove is a hero. He has fought against a Huge money making organization for years & come out on top because he has proved what he says. Along with all the other heroes who have spoken up & defended the rights of the Orcas. God bless them all.

John hargrove is a hero but he's also one of the best trainers, kind-hearted gentleman loving caring amazing person to fight for his orcas the ones that he trained the ones that he loved most and the ones that he stayed with a job that he didn't like because of the fact of what they were doing how they were treating the orcas and stuff like that and if he was there he knew that he could stick up for them and he did and he's just an amazing person and a caring person and you also did all the water working can you imagine I would be so scared but he wasn't he loved his job so much and it's a shame he can't do his job anymore but he did take on a multi-million dollar company and he came out smelling like roses because he tells the truth he's honest and he will tell it like it is and will not candy coat things even if it's heartbreaking I mean these two videos that I watched it's just amazing so now I'm going to go and read the book I've just seen it and this is 8/28/2022 but I just got to watch it and listen to it and I mean he is just the best for the orcas and it's a shame that he can't do the job that he still loves and probably misses it a lot I'm not sure but anyway God bless everybody peace be with everybody and in the name of Jesus watch over watch over John hargrove and watch over all the other people who agree with him and do to help him and or willing to do anything for the orcas that need to be done amen. Much dedication much love went into this and I'm proud that I am on their side cuz it's so heartbreaking I went to see world once and I must have sat through the orcha show for maybe not even 20 minutes maybe 10 minutes and I got up and left because I didn't approve of what was going on and I just couldn't watch it for some reason I thought it was wrong then and I was I think 23 my first time there and I think it was right after Dawn got killed because there was picketing and stuff as we were going in and I didn't understand why me I should have watched the news and then I would have known why and then we wouldn't even have went cuz I had two children and my mother-in-law so I wish I would have known then but I know now.

Somehow I don't buy what this guy says after he for more than 15 years used orcas as surfboards, rode on orcas, used their snout as catapult ..... If John Hargrove really 'loved' the orcas he should have left like after 2 days. How can anyone think it's fine having these big animals in barren tanks 24/7 and making a living from working there?

Read his book "Beneath the Surface". It kinda explains everything. He seems like a really cool dude, and pretty genuine too.

What did you do in the last - say now 20 years - against orca captivity, if you knew it all along better?

John stayed because he loved the orcas and he thought that if he stayed there he would be better in there and know what's going on then I'm not be there and then mistreating the orcas or doing whatever they wanted with them don't you understand that he's not a bad person he is rather a good person he left when he couldn't take it anymore and that he was sick beyond comparison in his heart so I'm sorry that you feel that way about him but I think he's amazing no disrespect to you you can have your comment and you can have your opinion cuz we are allowed to.
