Your comment "the world just disappears" says it all and describes exactly what it does for me. It's a year since I bought my first camera at age 57 and it's changed my world. Its been a hard few years for my family with health issues and photography has been a saviour and escape. Your videos are the next best thing when I can't get out. Thank you.
Duade, Thanks for another wonderful video. It is very interesting to see why others pick up a camera and shoot nature photography. Your landscape photos are just as wonderful as your bird photos. You may have missed your calling, but I hope you continue to make great videos. As I said getting up and being in the moment with a camera is very good for me and shows me the world is a beautiful place. Cheers.
My answer has always been “because I can’t sing or dance”. I’ve always been envious of talented people who can draw, paint, act, write etc. I have no particular entertainment skills but photography allows me to share the beauty and wonder of nature with others. It’s truly a privilege to be out in nature and be able to capture and share its wonders and beauty.
Nature photography makes you "stop and smell the roses" so to speak. In a world where everyone has their head in their phones, birds 🐦 and nature just pass us by. Photography makes you stop and be present with nature. Love it so much. Great great video. Your joy is contagious!
What a lovely comment and I could not agree more, I think we are all so lucky to have found this hobby and I just hope lots of other do as well. Cheers, Duade
A good video for the reasons some of us like photography. Not necessary to take award winning images. The experience to me is the main reason, not the image.
Duade, I really enjoy your videos. You’re my favorite UA-camr! You are like the Bob Ross of bird photography. Your voice is relaxing and your energy is incredibly positive. I look forward to all your uploads. Thanks for all you do.
I absolutely agree: taking photos in nature is not just a job or a passion, but a real necessity for people who have the right sensitivity to recharge in contact with the beauty of wild nature; it's nice to know that somewhere on Earth there is someone capable of still being enchanted by the beauty of nature and not trying to destroy it. greetings from Italy
For me, photography started off as a hobby. It grew into a pseudo obsession. Now it serves as my therapy, mental reboot and I seek to use it as a living record of all I have seen and done. My hope is that when I am long gone from this world that someone can see some of my life and feel the same joy of what I've seen as I did when taking the pictures.
What you said and what everyone else said, sums it up for me. I really do forget everything when I have my camera in my hand - even indoors taking pics of birds through the back window on a rainy day - I get absolutely engrossed. I suffer with pain in varying degrees each day and photography has really helped. I am sure the adrenalin rush when I see something special and get a photo of it is like a medicine - the pain just dissolves (although it always comes back after a while!) Photography is the best medicine in all respects! Love your photos, and the Australian birds are SO colourful. I think the fairy wrens and the pink robin are my favourites. Wish we had them in the UK!
I love it myself! I get lost in the view finder of my DSLR while watching the wild world. It helps me to recover from my crazy job. Thanks for this video!
What a beautiful and heartwarming video. I agree 100% with everything you say. When I get out there with my camera, I forget about all the troubles in the world and remember how beautiful the world can be. Keep making these amazing videos Duade. 🙏
I need that feeling again, that the madness of the world just melts away listening to the wildlife. It's the best way to lower blood pressure. Early morning light, the sound of nature, a cup of coffee or tea and maybe, just maybe, a chance to take some pictures. I need that antidote again.
Your videos really bring such a smile to my face. As a wildlife photographer myself it warms the soul to see you enjoying photography so much. Informative, calming, beautiful videos. Thank you Duade
Duade, it is so fantastic watch your channel. It is not only about bird photography. It is about life, happiness, friendship, passion, nature, beauty... It is amazing. Your soul smiles are genuine and honest, seems born exactly in your spirit! It is... amazing!
Ditto, ditto, ditto . . . . it literally keeps me sane. It brings delight, joy and connection to something bigger than me. It feeds my soul. I see beauty, little things that matter, I get lost in the moments and the focus. It's a kind of meditative, contemplative practice. A spiritual discipline of sorts. It gives me a way to enjoy the world, and treasure what is there. Appreciate and value nature. I loved that Wedgie shot, and the moment of joy at the end Duade. The Apostle birds are delightful.
I am grateful for people like you producing this type of content! I think we are all easily distracted from the task when a bird is sited out of the corner of the eye while driving down the road and turn around and walk around a bit to locate it.
Love sunrise. It, of course, is one of the most beautiful times of the day. But, I've never been a morning person who can get up before dawn to be somewhere at dawn. I envy those who can. But, any time I'm out in nature doing photography I'm appreciative of the opportunity to be there. I feel relaxed and that I'm where I'm supposed to be.
We share the world with all those amazing species. We are the lucky ones to be welcomed by them when they pose for our photos. This is enjoying the real world, away from our built environment, that reduces our sense of reality. Thanks for such a heartfelt video. Your channel is a celebration of the chance of being out there. Keep it going. Cheers
Thank you, yes, I feel very lucky to be in a country with varied wildlife, I just hope we can rebuild a lot of the habitat we have destroyed so future generations can enjoy it also. Cheers, Duade
Thanks for this heartfelt sharing. Your sincerity and enthusiasm shines through so clearly in this video. May you always find joy in bird photography. God bless you 😀
What a fantastic segment. I’ve love photography for over 50 years. In recent years I started photographing wildlife but mainly birds. There is nothing better than getting up early in the morning and wandering through the bush looking for those elusive birds. I’ve have suffered from anxiety and depression over many years and photography has really help me forget my problems. Keep up the great work
I am 72 and started taking photographs since i was 8, always my dream to be a photographer full time but illness put paid to that in my thirties. couldn't afford the film and processing, had to sell my pair of of EOS 9s. Been in wheelchair since my late thirties,. thought I would never hear that shutter click again and then along came digital. Went through couple of fuji bridge cameras, Then got the chance to buy Nikon D7200. Loved that camera. There was to begin with a bit of frustration, very limited where you can get in a wheelchair but found hides that catered for chairs and with second hand Tamron 150- 600 got huge pleasure from phytography once again. Not the greatest lens, big miss rate but now and again get a keeper. D7200 packed up on me and couldn't be fixed. managed to get z50. Even less keepers but still driven to take pics, and now and again get the one that makes it worthwhile. Its a combination of having a reason to go out and seeing what I love. I live in the south of England UK and don't have the variety of birds in other countries such as Australia but have to keep clicking because just maybe that day i will get a keeper. i will just keep pressing that shutter until I cant. Love your videos and your enthusiasm is infectious. became a member today.
Welcome Peter and thank you for the support and sharing your story. I believe I would have loved photography in the film days also but no way our family could afford a camera or the processing etc. So I am very happy I finally found it as an adult and it continues to provide joy. Glad to hear you are enjoying taking photos, I often think I enjoy that process more than the final product, but yes when you get that keeper it is a nice feeling. Good luck out there. Cheers, Duade
Your infectious laughter at the end sums it up. All because of a bird! Getting out, capturing a story only seen through 500 ml at 1/4000 sec. I start to figure out how birds work. And just birds going about their business. And have a laugh too.
Hi Duade another great video. Photography is in my blood. My grandfather was a professional photographer in the 1930s in England. I am lucky enough to have his first camera that he brought a Thornton Picard triple extension field camera, half plate glass negative. I have a few images that he captured with that camera negative and print. One of the best is a skyline of London, during the blitz, where you can see the glow of the fires, and the anti-aircraft exploding in the air. Your comments in regards to Mental Health resonated with me. Unfortunately I suffer PTSD, major depression and anxiety. Being able to see the beauty of this planet that we live on through the viewfinder definitely helped me with my journey through Mental Health been able to see the beauty, not just the darkness. Unfortunately the darkness has returned of late and watching your videos has definitely shone a light, forcing me to pick up my R5 and get out and photograph. The last time I was out burning I was extremely fortunate to go to Serendip in Lara with my son. What a fantastic day we had photographing the birds. It was a new experience for him, his first time, playing with a camera and lens of better quality than just a phone or a point and shoot. Again, thank you very much for your videos. I really enjoy watching them and learning.
Thanks for taking the time to share your comment and sorry to hear of your struggles. Great to hear you are enjoying photography and your son also. My grandfather was similar to yours in that he photographed a lot during WW2 and took many in the Pacific campaign including Japan. I didnt realise until later in life he spent time after the war helping rebuild Japan and helping its people which I am very proud of. Cheers, Duade
Duade, you've created lots of great content before but this has to be the best one yet. Ironically it's one of those with the least amount of gear contents but the capture of emotions just shows that we are here for a reason that each of us knows best. We love our feathery friends and the photography is just a hobby that results from it. My heart is full and I hope that one day the non-members would get a chance to share their experiences as well
Good morning Duade, at least here in Alliston Ontario Canada. I find total peace and relaxation, when I’m out taking photo’s of wildlife, be it birds or animals and landscapes. When walking around at my destination, I’m all alone, in my mind all I see is my next subject to photograph. My wife may be with me sometimes but rarely, as she is a survivor. I do have some issue’s myself but they just disappear when I’m out walking about, looking my next subject. I totally forget, how long I’ve been walking around, and forget to check the time. If my wife is with me I make sure she’s safe and enjoying the things we see and come across. I find your video’s informative and very helpful. It’s a real joy watching you, seeing how excited you get when you see a subject to photograph. Thank you for all your excitement, your smile, and detail of information on camera gear. A great photography show too watch always. Take care and be safe when walking bout on your ventures. Brian
That "Why I love photography" part is now one of the best things to me on UA-cam. Really felt like I was expressing my thoughts on Birding & Photographing nature. I literally wrote those lines down in my notebook.
I live in Norway, love natur, and have been taking pictures since 1978. The last years Ive been consentrating on bird photography. For me, the mental aspect have always been the most important, and being out in the natur taking pictures, have saved my life more than once. Its a great hobby, and the best medicin for your soul.
A total joy to watch Duade and a brilliant concept to explore as photography has so many life benefits (best summed up by you perhaps as 'natures medicine'). For you a beautiful escape to your happy place where you are in a zone where nothing else counts but the moment you are in. It shows in your excitement on each and every video (you are constantly like a kid in a candy store). On this morning those misty and moody landscapes with the RF100-500mm were absolutely gorgeous (love the way you embraced the versatility of this lens) and you were oozing creativity like with the fairywren backlit silhouette shot. So rewarding when you conceptualised the moody, misty lakeside scene the night before! The Apostlebirds demonstrate once again that nature always delivers. Thanks again mate as I get so much enjoyment from your channel.
Thanks Mike, it is my pleasure and I agree with everything you have said. I feel like we have won the lottery being able to get this joy from a hobby. Yes the 100-500 is a very versatile lens that I absolutely love. Cheers, Duade
Living in the U.S. midwest area, I never really noticed the birds around me while growing up. I saw Blackbirds, Blue Jays Robins and Cardinals, but it wasn't until I got my camera and went out to make some photos that I met real birders and began to learn about all the things I have been missing. If they have been there all this time and I didn't notice them, imagine what I will find tomorrow.
Photography for me is something I can do. I being paramount. I can create an image of what I see around me. It allows me to be creative and to communicate what I see to others. Being creative is not always possible in our day to day lives. For me, as a tax accountant, being creative is a no-no! But when I pick up my camera, if I am creative I am applauded (well sometimes). Thank you for your videos. As an Australian from Victoria now living in Maine in the U.S., I can really appreciate the beauty of the land and in particular the Australian bird life. Truly amazing.
When I watch your videos, when I go to some forest and enjoy the silence, when I walk and keep looking for birds all gives me the same emotions. Time slows down and I get synced with nature. Your voice and talk brings calmness and peace.
I love Lake Moodemere, it's an awesome little spot. Good idea to get there early before the water skiers turn up. I'm not sure if you've heard of Forest Bathing, in a nutshell, it's communing with the forest and nature to be recharged by its energy, photography is the perfect recipe to combine both. Keep up the great work. All the best. PS I had a big smile on my face when I heard the sacred Kingfishers in the background. Cheers.
Thanks Brian, yes, it is a nice spot, I got lucky with the fog and being a weekday a lot less people which is great. Yes, I love the Kingfishers also. Cheers, Duade
Photography is my form of meditation. I found it 1 year ago this week, purely out of luck. I’m in such a busy corporate world and getting up at 4am to wait for the morning light for birding or even landscapes, or chasing the Aurora Australis at night, allows me to completely tune out, relax and be 100% in the moment. No thought of work!
Duade most of the UA-cam channel I subscribe too are wildlife and landscape photography channels (toss in a few cooking and technology channels (retired Electronical Engineer)). But as a hobbyist photographer, most of my photography is during travel, family events and now chasing the grandkids. My main hobby is playing golf with my friends and enjoy the competition. But to me photography is all about the memories I capture when traveling with my wife, family and friends. So the pleasure and mental relief you get from your chosen hobby (golf, photography, fishing and travel for me) is a blessing that we all should cherish. As always another great video Duade!!!!!
Your video is such a gift ❤ photography has always given me such peace, I always feel like it’s my meditation & even if I’m not getting shots, I can sit in the environment and listen to the birds and the sounds of nature and be transported out of my mind and the challenges of life and feel the beauty that surrounds me, whether it’s the warmth of the sun, the wind in the trees or the ground beneath me. I’ve been thinking about grief tonight and it’s not grief of loss but it’s the grief of things that change in life or that will inevitably come and it makes me want to get out & get amongst nature to see what I can discover to bring me back to that place of peace again. Thankyou for sharing your thoughts & words, it reminds me that kindred spirits exist & life is beautiful 🫶🏻
Hi Duade, for me this is one of your best. I'm now in my mid 70's & I've recently lost a couple of close friends & there's been moments when I wonder how much time I have left myself. To get out with my camera & regardless of the photo quality I get, I find it so calming to see scenery that should last forever, (providing man doesn't destroy it). I guess all hobbies can have a similar effect on us but just as some of your members mentioned, photography takes nothing from the environment, it records it. I wonder if in many years to come people will have access to see these pics because they won't be stored as photos saved in a shoebox as my parents & grandparents used to do. Anyhow thanks again for sharing, it's made my day better already. Cheers
Thanks for sharing George and so happy to hear you are enjoying photography and enjoyed the video. Life seems to be one big challenge the older we get so its great to have this outlet. Take care, Duade
G,Day, your pics blow me away every time you show them, I do envoy you your location, I really liked listening why other members like their photography and to be honest they are all reason that I enjoy it so much.(although I am appalling at bird photography). This is another superb vid.
Greetings from Alaska. The sights, smells, peace, and tranquility of nature is unmatched. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your passion and genuine enthusiasm is refreshing.
Hi Duade, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you for your videos, they're so informative and you obviously devote so much time to them. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I've taken up photography about 2 years ago, I retired as a result of chronic pain and PTSD and find photography the most beautiful pastime, it's the only thing in my life that I find truly relaxing and peaceful. Keep doing what you do, you do a magnificent job.
It makes me happy. I have spent much of my life and feel comfortable in the bush. For me admiring natural landscapes and their occupants and being in that world is good for the soul. Bird photography gives me purpose and allows me to be immersed in the natural environment and take a little piece home. It's challenging and therefore worthy. Birds are characters and most are beautiful. Wading through the many many very ordinary photos for that one or two that are gems is very rewarding. Great video Duade.
Like so many others, wildlife, macro, landscape, and astrophotography are about being out in nature. It's the same reason I do a lot of hiking - to just get out into the real world and unplug. I can always tell if it's been too long since I've been able to get out - I'm restless irritable, and discontent. I've started getting into doing some live music photography and I really enjoy that for the challenge. As always, another great video, Duade. Thanks for sharing!
Photographs can provoke an emotional response from whoever views them. I enjoy receiving those responses. Whether the photograph is of a bird, a landscape, or a BMX rider in the air, I love to receive a positive response to something that I enjoyed creating. Being in the countryside, on my own with my camera is definitely a bonus!
To me it's the ultimate experience and gives me a purpose to excell my previous best. Also a great stress management tool as I get connected closely get along with wonderful world of birds and nature. In the end all the precious memories photographing birds. I'm just loving it, makes me meditate and get into that special zone I always wanted to be. So much more health benefits e.g. improve my concentration and regulate blood pressure etc. I don't know but Im sure if some hobby or habit that brings smile and joy is nothing less than worship and meditation ❤❤❤❤ Happy birding and happy shooting 🎞️🎥📷
Whatever I say will fall short of how this affected me, Duade. From the landscapes and impromptu bird images to your members sharing their innermost thoughts with us... it was a practically perfect video. Photography for me is always about capturing a special moment to relive over and over. Can I just say, your landscape photography has become exceptional in such a short space of time.
Thanks Joan, I really appreciate the comment and you are too kind, glad you enjoyed the photos and the encouragement to keep trying with landscapes. Cheers, Duade
Thanks for this video, Duade! It's so great to see the positive impact a simply hobby can have on people's lives. Love all of it! Especially how excited you get, when you see birds you didn't expect. That joy's contageous. :)))
Love this video Duade. I love your sincerity and enthusiasm for life, nature, and people. Your videos are delivered from your heart, and I love watching them as does my wife. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Duade I started as a landscape photographer hiking the Sierra Nevada mountains with hiking groups, visiting US National parks, Yosemite, Sequoia, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Arches , Redwoods , Zion Brice Canyon. During Covid i started beach hiking and started Sea Bird photography Pelicans, Heron Ducks and Osprey and your channel gave me inspiration
Photography for me allows me to escape as well. I love just getting out and shooting. Thinking about perspectives and how others see the same world as I do from their own unique view. Along with physical exercise and playing guitar, photography has really become so important to my life and mental health. Being able to capture a moment in time from a unique view to me is just amazing. Your presentation and channel are truly helpful to many. Creating a community of like minded people, helping each other overcome hardships with creativity is inspiring. I mentioned in another comment in a previous video I am a recovering heroin addict and spent a few hellish years living on the street. After the hard life I've had, it's easy to feel negative and think that most people are just inherently evil, though I know it's not true. Seeing you stay so positive and genuine after hearing your story of your severe health difficulties, it really does help me along. I think the true test of character is how people respond to unfair hardships. Some people use them to justify bad behavior while it motivates others to leave the world better than we found it. I really appreciate your candor in all your videos Duade. You are an all around great guy and it really shines through. Keep it up man!
Thanks for sharing your story and congrats on overcoming your addiction, I am glad you are still here to enjoy your photography and you find phtoography helps you with your recovery. Have fun out there, Cheers ,Duade
Getting up First light with the Golden awb coming towards you is high up there . But the majesty of nature, frozen in an instant frame in time, to observe forever. Natural history 👌
I've always been into photography since I was about 14 or 15 and I used to always go to the airport to take photos of planes but it got too repetitive and I was getting frustrated because I couldn't get the shots I wanted. I stopped doing photography and as a result became a little more unhappy in life but then I picked my camera back up when I saw an eastern spine bill sitting in a gum tree at the top of my driveway and since then I've been going out every weekend and shooting all kinds of animals from birds to possums and frogs. This has made my life so much better than when I wasn't doing photography. Thank you for all the awesome content you've been releasing. I love watching your videos.
Hi Duade. This was a remarkable video. Very spot on to issues and experiences I have had. I only wish I could give this video more than one thumbs up 👍
Great video Duade, so many positive messages from your members. Photography without a doubt has so many benefits. I loved the Apostle Birds at the end, every year we camp near Mount Surprise in Far North Queensland and they are great form of entertainment and photographic subject for our family, we all love to watch their behavior and film/photograph them.
I love how you said "the world disappears" only a little bit before you completely forgot you were reading heartfelt comments due to an eagle 😂... You are a man of your word
🤣Imagine my delighted surprise, seeing a video/screengrab of a scroll through my photos on iGT😆I'm so thankful you stopped before some of my shitty ones popped up!😁 I have no difficulty imagining your joy over those unexpected Apostlebirds! I hope we get to see them, but the places we've planned visit makes them NOT a sure thing (very few bird species are, really.) Their behaviour and sounds reminds me so much of one of my favourite birds in India, the Jungle Babbler. Also, since there was a severe lack of'em in this video:(that's what the emoji is for, imo)
Thanks Pia, my pleasure, it is some achievement what you have achieved. Yes, Apostlebirds sound like the Jungle Babbler, they are just a delight to watch as they are in constant communication with one another and just seem to always be having fun. I'm not sure if you have Hattah on your trip but that is a hot spot for them. Cheers, Duade
Hi Duade. Going out into nature for me is better than any medicine that relieves pain. I go out to see birds on weekends with my wife, she is the watcher and I am the photographer, but I like it better when I go out alone to meet the birds in the environment alone. Listening to your video, it seemed to me like a poem that feeds the souls of those who love this wonderful hobby. Greetings from the island of Puerto Rico.
What a beautiful video mate. Feel like we have a lot in comum when it comes to why we are out in nature. In my opinion it don't existe a better medicine than that. Whatever it is, depression, stress, loneliness, etc etc, you always find something that makes you feel good. After coming home you sit down, looking back in time on the photos you have taken, and just wish to go out there again. I started in 1979 with naturephoto, and, so it's a big part of me, and it has always given me so much in return. Now a days i am retired, so i go out almost every day photographing. Well sometimes i just go out in the nature, just sitting there looking and listening to all the beauty around me. Gives so much peace in the soul. And i can't forget: Some amazing beautiful photos in this video, as always. Cheers, Bjoern.
Dear Duade Just watching your newest video and I'm impressed about. Well your question whas, why do I do that? Here is mine, I'm a photographer since I'm about 20 years and to me fotography is a way to express the beauty of the nature. It's a way to preserve memories when we are out in the mountains or anywhere in the world. Catching moments of happiness, harmony or just being overwhelmed while watching eagles or reds milan how they are playing with they're element in the air. I'm since a few month retired and I'm happy to have finally enough time to go out when ever it's useful during day or night. It's about ... "the world is yours to explore" ... to me😊! Have fun and keep on going. Your Swiss friend, Marco :-)
Wonderful comment Marco and yes, how lucky are we to have this wonderful world to explore, lets hope we can keep it that way for future generations. Cheers, DUade
Thank you for another great video Duade, it was really great to hear how photography helps so many people. Love it that you saw the Apostle Birds, (Boys from the bush) we have a family that share their world with us and I must laugh a million times a day at the antics they get up to, especially when the Babblers join them for chasing each other around the trees. Living in the bush IS living in reality.
This is a video I just know I'll still be watching in 10-20 years, and I hope it will ring as true to me as it does today. What an absolute masterpiece from a-z! The world is a better place with you and your videos in it. I hope you're able to reach more people and keep doing what you love for as long as you can. All the best!
Escape from reality or to reality 😉 What beautiful conditions! Some great images in there! ❤ Got chills when the wedge tailed eagle came on screen. That’s a big part of it for me. You never know when or what exciting moment may happen. I love getting out and looking for images to shoot whether it’s bird, landscape, macro or whatever.
Hi Duade, I think the title of the video should have been "Why we do photography". For me, photography is like a meditation. you are away from your routine workplace pressures and live the moment in nature & capturing the beautiful moments with your camera. Thank you for this lovely video.!!
Oh man, your content just keeps getting better. I've recently started regularly going for birding on weekends. Besides the fact that I'm doing it for the pure joy of it, It lets me forget my day job and all the stress that comes with it.
This one hit home Mate, right on the knocker , I won't add to the wonderful msgs you read out in the YT , Its all been said so well. There was a time when I couldn't wait to get home and check out what ive captured , these days it's all about outing with camera in hand and not so much the result. Stay strong Duade and see you soon.
Like so many others have said, being outside taking photos brings me peace and is an escape to something more simple or basic. It is also a way to keep my mind active and stretch myself by learning new techniques. Your channel is one that helps me do this. Thank you Duade for this lovely video.
What a wonderful video! I could feel your passion and enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing this experience. Being out in nature and spotting birds subdues the constant chatter in my head. Learning photography has been a slow process for me but I won't give up.
I grew up fortunate to have 6 small ponds with trails all around them directly out my living room window across my road. I spent so much time fishing, hiking, walking across the frozen ponds, etc. When I grew up and moved away, I moved to the edge of a city in the midwest and no longer had that trail out my front door for the first time ever...eventually I wasn't getting out very often once I had hiked a lot of the trails in my new home. One day, I decided to go to a place I visit semi-frequently and saw a barred owl. I hadn't seen one in YEARS and it was less than 10 feet from me. I knew my mom had some old gear sitting around her place collecting dust, so once I got ahold of it, I went back to that dirt road I had seen it on and sure enough, I found one a mile or so down the road from there and I was HOOKED. I've probably seen 60 barred owls since then, 18 months ago. I've photographed pretty much every larger mammal in my area at least once and seen over 200 bird species without travelling over 90 minutes. Holding a camera has changed my entire life perspective in a huge manner. I feel closer to nature than I have since I was a pre-teen and it's a fantastic feeling, for sure. I could not overstate how much I have learned about wildlife in the process too. One day I had a local wildlife biologist ask if I was also one haha. I guess not many younger dudes are watching birds without working in the field.
Photography has been a hobby of mine for years. I guess I never really thought about the why I love it that much, but one of my reasons would be I love highlighting beauty. If it is the beauty in people, the beautiful sunset, the beautiful flowers or birds and even the tiny insects that we walk by every day without even seeing, there is so much to highlight and share with others so they can also enjoy. I think Rebecca said it perfectly about finding beauty in unexpected places and the overlooked beauty. The world has a way to put people and things to a side if they don't live up to their standard and they get rejected and sometimes even pushed out of society as being ugly and worthless and that hurts. So if I can capture the beauty in every day places and circumstances, I can also help those rejected to show their beauty.
Among so many awesome videos, this is really one of the most special. So nice see the stories of the member while we saw beautiful photos. After I watched this video the first thing what I wanted to do was take my camera and go out there. I think that's exactly what I'm going to do 😃 Duade, your passion for bird photography is so inspiring.
Such a beautiful footage Duade! The beginning with transition into those gorgeous image is quite cinematic! I really love to hear other people perspectives and they are all beautiful. This is such a great idea to share along with your stunning captures. Your happiness and joy are infectious Duade and your works are always very inspiring!. Chees mate.
I’ve always enjoyed bird watching in my backyard. I would take pics with my phone but always wished for better quality. I also struggle sometimes with leaving the house and doing things and since getting a camera, that has gotten better. I feel very calm and happy when I take pictures. Thank you for making these videos I’m learning so much going through your content. 🙏
I have always loved being outdoors and enjoying the beauty of this creation. Photography adds to it because now instead of just observing, I’m interacting with it, viewing it from different perspectives and seeing things I would have missed had I just been an observer. Great reflective video! Thank you.
I started wildlife photography after i ended my first relationship three years ago. I was in a slump and needed something new that pushed me to go outside. Luckily my best friend recently got into photography, so i bought a used canon eos 500d (rebel t1i) and a tamron 70-300 and off i went. Got really lucky the fist or second time out and, without really knowing anything about my settings, i captured one of my best pictures of a woodpecker to this day. I was hooked right away. The joy and somewhat meditative aspect of being in nature and just absorbing its beauty is why i go out.
Duade, everything you said is why I love photography and really nature in general, hit on exactly on every point. I'm a newer photographer only have been doing this for about 3 years, but I have been getting out early in the morning or late at night to observe wildlife and birds since my earliest days. I picked up photography because it is a way to document wildlife and show the world what I see in the world and I hope to inspire more people to get out there.
I love your enthusiasm and your abilty to share your emotion for the love of your photography. I have enjoyed watching your channel. Thank you for the inspiration.
I work in a reasonably high stress job. . . and I’ll often go out doing photography just to unwind. Great video Duade - you have captured all the reasons to get out there
What a lovely video and thanks for sharing. I just love your enthusiasm and the special places you take your subscribers...what a treat to join you on your journey. I might not take the best pictures in the world but I love the adventure of getting out there, getting them and enjoying every minute nature has to offer. Long may the adventures continue 💚
Firstly many thanks for your amazing work. This video made me grin ear to ear and looking at the comments below should reiterate the pleasure people are gaining from your work and being in nature. I grew up in Wales and lived in Africa for 25 years and have been in New Zealand for the last 30. Getting into photography in the last 15 it provides me something to look forward to at every opportunity. In NZ there are limited species as you'd know but just having the time out in nature with them is good for the soul. Saving hard for a new camera and big prime (second hand) to make sure I can do the model justice... good shooting and keep up the good work.
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this video, about why we take photos. And it seems to me that there are actually quite a few of us photographers out there struggling with mental balance issues. I guess focusing our minds on our photography really does help us out.
For me it's not an escape from reality, it's an escape to reality, the real world is nature.
That is well said. Out of our own minds and into reality.

Complete truth
Awesome comment mate, love it. Cheers, Duade

This is the first time I’ve heard someone else articulate exactly how I feel when I’m out in nature with my camera. Thank you!
Your comment "the world just disappears" says it all and describes exactly what it does for me. It's a year since I bought my first camera at age 57 and it's changed my world. Its been a hard few years for my family with health issues and photography has been a saviour and escape. Your videos are the next best thing when I can't get out. Thank you.
100 % !
Thanks for sharing Linda, congrats on picking up the camera, if the Plover in your avatar is any guide you appear to be smasing it. Cheers, Duade
Duade,
Thanks for another wonderful video. Cheers.
Thanks Bruce, you are too kind, glad to here you enjoy photography as I do. Cheers, Duade
+1
Nature photography makes you "stop and smell the roses" so to speak. In a world where everyone has their head in their phones, birds 🐦 and nature just pass us by. Photography makes you stop and be present with nature. Love it so much. Great great video. Your joy is contagious!
What a lovely comment and I could not agree more, I think we are all so lucky to have found this hobby and I just hope lots of other do as well. Cheers, Duade
For me, photography is one of my biggest therapy to my problems. It’s a great therapy.
A good video for the reasons some of us like photography. Not necessary to take award winning images. The experience to me is the main reason, not the image.
Thanks Mark, yes, if we can enjoy the process the photo is just a bonus, Cheers, Duade
Duade, I really enjoy your videos. You’re my favorite UA-camr! You are like the Bob Ross of bird photography. Your voice is relaxing and your energy is incredibly positive. I look forward to all your uploads. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks Dan, I appreciate the comment and you are too kind re the Bob Ross comment. Cheers, Duade
I hope our hobby does something to help people see why our nature is worth protecting!
Thanks for sharing your story and great to hear photography is helping you, have fun out there, Cheers, Duade
Well said!
Thanks mate, glad to hear you enjoy wildlife photography as much as I do. Cheers, Duade
Duade, it is so fantastic watch your channel. It is not only about bird photography. It is about life, happiness, friendship, passion, nature, beauty... It is amazing. Your soul smiles are genuine and honest, seems born exactly in your spirit!
It is... amazing!
Wow, thank you!
Thanks Denise, you are too kind and great to hear why you love photography, yes, got very lucky with the conditions and birds. Cheers, Duade
I am grateful for people like you producing this type of content! I think we are all easily distracted from the task when a bird is sited out of the corner of the eye while driving down the road and turn around and walk around a bit to locate it.
Thanks for the feedback, Cheers, Duade
Brian
Thanks for sharing Brian, I feel exactly the same way and I appreciate the feedback. Cheers, Duade
That "Why I love photography" part is now one of the best things to me on UA-cam. Really felt like I was expressing my thoughts on Birding & Photographing nature.
I literally wrote those lines down in my notebook.
Thanks, you are very kind, Cheers, DUade
I live in Norway, love natur, and have been taking pictures since 1978. The last years Ive been consentrating on bird photography. For me, the mental aspect have always been the most important, and being out in the natur taking pictures, have saved my life more than once. Its a great hobby, and the best medicin for your soul.
Great to hear what gets others out there. Thanks for producing this. I really enjoyed it. Stay distracted my friend.
Thanks mate, I like that, stay distracted :-)
Wonderful!
Nature photography offers a little way for each of us to connect with the universe and marvel at its beauty.
Yes duade birding is very addictive allows me to think about many things from qld
A truly beautiful setting, with wonderful personal remarks from your fans. We do pay attention, thank you so much.
Thanks Adam, that is what it is all about, Cheers, Duade
Your excitement when you saw the eagle made me tear up a bit. It is such a childlike joy. Beautiful to share with others.
Thanks, yes, it is child like, if only we could enjoy life without worry like children do. Take care, Duade
Thanks Harry, glad you enjoyed it, CHeers, DUade
We all need a creative escape or something that satisfies our creative part. It is photography for me 😊😊
Without a doubt one of the best videos about the passion for birds and nature that I have seen to date.
Thanks for sharing Grant and great to hear you have found photography helps with your mental health. Have fun out there, Cheers, Duade
Thanks Tony, totally agree, it is very special really, Cheers, Duade
Few nature / photography channels are as wholesome as yours. I love it.
I don't know but Im sure if some hobby or habit that brings smile and joy is nothing less than worship and meditation ❤❤❤❤
Happy birding and happy shooting 🎞️🎥📷
Wow, love the eagle shot. Totally agree with your comments, photography out in nature is food for the soul.
I couldn’t agree more 😊
Thanks Joan, I really appreciate the comment and you are too kind, glad you enjoyed the photos and the encouragement to keep trying with landscapes. Cheers, Duade
Thanks for this video, Duade! It's so great to see the positive impact a simply hobby can have on people's lives. Love all of it! Especially how excited you get, when you see birds you didn't expect. That joy's contageous. :)))
Thanks Rebecca, yes, we are very lucky to have this hobby, Cheers, Duade
Love this video Duade. I love your sincerity and enthusiasm for life, nature, and people. Your videos are delivered from your heart, and I love watching them as does my wife. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks Graeme, my pleasure and I wish you and your wife lots of fun birding adventures. Cheers, Duade
Duade
I started as a landscape photographer hiking the Sierra Nevada mountains with hiking groups, visiting US National parks, Yosemite, Sequoia, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Arches , Redwoods , Zion Brice Canyon.
Great to hear you are enjoying nature photography and exploring the beautiful country we live in. Cheers, Duade
Bird Photography is meditation for me. Replaced mountaineering in my life and I enjoy it even more
Hi Duade. This was a remarkable video. Very spot on to issues and experiences I have had. I only wish I could give this video more than one thumbs up 👍
Thanks, you are too kind, take care, Duade
Great video Duade, so many positive messages from your members. Photography without a doubt has so many benefits. I loved the Apostle Birds at the end, every year we camp near Mount Surprise in Far North Queensland and they are great form of entertainment and photographic subject for our family, we all love to watch their behavior and film/photograph them.
I love how you said "the world disappears" only a little bit before you completely forgot you were reading heartfelt comments due to an eagle 😂... You are a man of your word
🤣Imagine my delighted surprise, seeing a video/screengrab of a scroll through my photos on iGT😆I'm so thankful you stopped before some of my shitty ones popped up!😁
I have no difficulty imagining your joy over those unexpected Apostlebirds!
Thanks Noel, I appreciate the feedback and yes listening to the birds is a highlight. Cheers, Duade
Dear Duade
Just watching your newest video and I'm impressed about.
Thanks Simon, you are too kind, glad you enjoyed it and it reasonated with you. Cheers, Duade
Escape from reality or to reality 😉
What beautiful conditions! Some great images in there! ❤
Got chills when the wedge tailed eagle came on screen.
Duade, some very thoughtful and moving sharing. And great of you to include your members. Well said. Brave of you to take on this subject.
Lovely video Duade, about sums it all up perfectly.
Thanks mate, Cheers, Duade

I've recently started regularly going for birding on weekends. Besides the fact that I'm doing it for the pure joy of it, It lets me forget my day job and all the stress that comes with it.

Thanks, it sure is, Cheers, Duade
This one hit home Mate, right on the knocker , I won't add to the wonderful msgs you read out in the YT , Its all been said so well. There was a time when I couldn't wait to get home and check out what ive captured , these days it's all about outing with camera in hand and not so much the result. Stay strong Duade and see you soon.
Thanks mate, very true indeed, I look forward to our next catch up. Cheers, Duade
Like so many others have said, being outside taking photos brings me peace and is an escape to something more simple or basic. It is also a way to keep my mind active and stretch myself by learning new techniques. Your channel is one that helps me do this. Thank you Duade for this lovely video.
Awesome shot and landscape view. I love just watching your enjoyment reactions in the fields.
It's a Real Stress Buster Paton. And You are the one That inspired me a lot for Sure.
What a wonderful video! I could feel your passion and enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Being out in nature and spotting birds subdues the constant chatter in my head. Learning photography has been a slow process for me but I won't give up.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video, Cheers, Duade
I think that's exactly what I'm going to do 😃
Duade, your passion for bird photography is so inspiring.
Thanks mate, it is my pleasure, and thank you for your support. I hope you had fun out there. Cheers, Duade
2:06 Why I lowe it, -simply because I can stop the time and loock back to the moment whenever I want to! Nice wideo as always! 👍💚

Thanks mate, my pleasure and thanks for the great comment, Cheers, DUade
I’ve always enjoyed bird watching in my backyard. I would take pics with my phone but always wished for better quality. I also struggle sometimes with leaving the house and doing things and since getting a camera, that has gotten better. I feel very calm and happy when I take pictures.
Thank you for making these videos I’m learning so much going through your content. 🙏
Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear Peter, glad to hear you are enjoying your photography. Cheers, Duade
Thank you so much!
I love Capturing Creation.
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this video, about why we take photos.
And it seems to me that there are actually quite a few of us photographers out there struggling with mental balance issues. I guess focusing our minds on our photography really does help us out.
Man, your joy is infectious! Looks like an incredible day, thanks for sharing :D
