Great video. Thanks for sharing. Learning how to weld has been on my short list for a while. I was signed up last year at my community college but then, quarantine and all. Now I have some inspiration to get in again this upcoming spring/summer.
I’ve been making my on wire frames for about 7 yrs. I love doing them. Watching how you make yours is the way I’ve doing them too. My welding table is 2’ X 40’. I will lay it out and tape in place then weld up. Unless it’s something I want to make more then 1. I will then use MDF and make a pattern on it. When I found the roller it’s made the work a lot easier now. The biggest difference is I use 3/16 rods. I get from a local metal shop. I use the wire frame clips and I do use LEDs.
Brian, you have more experience than I do. I have been making them for about 4 years now. That is a huge table, wish I had room for a 40 ft table. I did make a pattern for a star that I made using OSB. I also get my steel from a local supplier, way cheaper than the big box stores. I haven't considered using the 3/16 rod, how is it to work with?
@@bergmannlights5149 Lol I didn’t even see I put 40’. Now that would be a great table. No sorry not 40’ but 4 foot. The big difference between OSB and MDF. Is MDF want catch fire. It will smolder some. I just drill 1” or so hole at all my joints. All aside though I really liked your video. Can’t wait to see next on how you connect your lights. I’m trying to learn pixels but that’s a huge step up for me.
@@tarheeldog6958 That is good to know that MDF does not burn. I also put holes at the joints for my stars. Worked well enough. 4 foot makes more sense. I have two of those harbor freight tables. I move them around to support my work pieces.
Great job of teaching us your system! Please tell me where you source your steel rods- everywhere I click wants hundreds of dollars for shipping . Thanks!
Glad the video was helpful. I source my steel from a local steel supply vendor. I have Pacific steel in my location. I suggest you look for a local supplier. You can also try local fabricators, they will sometimes sell to the public.
@bergmann Lights have you thought about welding to round rods to a metal plate that you can put in your vise? With this fixture you can make custom small bends quicker than clamping all the time. Great video!
I do these for myself so I don’t really have any advice on how to do a production of wireframes. All I can say is have fun and I hope it goes well for you.
Local steel supplier. We have Pacific Steel here in my town. Don’t get it from a big box store. A 5 ft stick will cost the same as a 20ft section from a steel supplier. You can also go to a local fabrication shop if there are any near you
Thank you, just heard the part about printing as a POSTER image. Thank you so much. What kind of Camera and Microphone did you use? Sounds really good.
hello I am a fabricator, I know nothing about lighting I am looking for a string of lights with white wire, the primary color will be blue and at Christmas time they will be illiminated white. can you direct me please?
So there are different kinds of lights you can get. You can use smart LED’s like I use or you can use lights that you plug into a standard wall socket, volts AC. It depends on the look you are going for. Both styles of lights can be purchased with white wire. For standard lights you can buy covers that change the color of the bulb. I like the smart LED’s because I can customize the color of each bulb individually within the software.
Is there anyway to communicate with you privately? My questions are incredibly basic and don’t want to clutter the comments with my beginner questions. You are the closest I have come to finding help with the wireframes my family has had for 15-20 years. I need to rewrite with new lights but have never found anyone that does it. So let me know if I can bother you with some beginner level questions? Thank you
Very nice.... you have me busy in the 'off' season!
Really interesting ; you're talented and very patient.
Thanks

Great idea. I will have to make one of those for my next project.
So I'm gonna have to start making this kind of stuff for work. Any recommendations for a new guy?

@Bergmann Lights well when taking pictures of the location some crazy homeless guy started yelling at me lol.
Where do u get the wire u make those with?

Have you done a nativity scene in wire?
No I haven’t, but you could use the exact same process to make one

Just my iPhone
@@bergmannlights5149 Nice job.

Why do you use .25” wire? Have you tried smaller sizes?
Yes I use 1/4 inch steel rod. Haven’t tried anything smaller.

Do you live around Maine?
Sorry, not close to Maine
@@bergmannlights5149 my business is trying to monetize your hobby. Do you take build requests?
@@bergmannlights5149 you have the most helpful UA-cam videos. Can you ship to Maine? Are you interested in making money from your hobby?
Where do you buy the metal from?
Local steel supplier. Don’t go to the big box store they charge 4 times the price.
