My town still uses these. They hang them on the street lights all over the place and it looks great!
Gives the nice warm christmas feeling unlike the new cold LEDs.
I personally like the warmer glow of the older bulbs. I did mange to find some "warm" white LEDs, but they still have that high speed annoying flicker. :D
Love that you’re keeping your family decorations alive.
This is what I needed for my Christmas setup. Christmas 2020 was the least decorated year for me. I did not even unpack the inflatables but think I will try a setup like this next year. I also went to HomeDepot 5 days after Christmas and not one Single light on clearance was left.
Very cool, glad you can update them it will save a lot of playing 'find the dead bulb' 👍👍
I wanted to try and make a bunch of wire figures and see if I could make it look like a ball was rolling across my yard from one elf figure to another.
Animated lights are cool
Do you mount the ardunio inside a water tight electrical box? Does the winter weather affect how these components perform?
I keep it in a weather tight box, but I also keep that box on a covered porch. The cold doesn't seem to effect the components.
Very cool. I would be interested to know how you automate them before arduino. I dont program computers but I understand relays, etc.
Thanks! Very interesting!
Appreciate the info. I started building my own and have a question. How do you mount them? I was going to weld angle iron on the back for stakes, but realized that it would probably bend the whole thing when trying to get the assembly in the ground. Do you put up stakes and then tie them to the stakes after that's all setup or do they need a whole frame to mount to so they don't bend.
I drive conduit pipes into the ground and zip tie the displays to them. Two or three per display depending on it's size.
@@1D10CRACY Thanks for the info and quick reply!
Where can I find those Ashland lights at???
I believe I bought those at Michaels Craft Supplies. But I haven't seen that brand this year.
Hi, Can provide the Thingiverse link to the light clips. couldn't track down anything that looked like your clip in the video. thx
i have have missed something but how do you get the specific lights? They need to be a certain length, correct?
Kinda, you can buy them with various counts (lengths) and fudge them by adding more ore less to various sections.
If you cant weld, would solder hold?
Maybe, I often felt JB Weld would work too! I do know of a guy who brazes them together.
Where did you find the relays and model # ?
They are these, though it says currently unavailable. amzn.to/36UH2Vg

Hi there can u send the link to these lights ashland christmas has no web site
I believe I bought the lights from hobby lobby, in the store itself. I didn't order them and do not have a link.
Anyone there???
Seems quiet to me!
Blue lights are for strip clubs. When did the big-box stores dictate the color of Xmas? JUST SAY NO!
Very Cool
