You're the only teacher that talks about the musicality from the beginning. I always do this. You are amazing.
Yes, but on the other hand I've found that musical expression can always be added once you have the technique laid down solid. That said, I tend to practice my technique with at least a nod to musicality, such as dynamics that follow the melody.
So true. I definitely fell into this trap. Thank you.
wow! Finally somebody told me the answer that I always wonder. Thank you!
These are all very helpful
That makes perfect sense. I'm going to give it a try!
Good word :)
With Jazz especially improvising it's easier right? Classical has to be technically accurate. But I get what your saying
Hi Mark, I really enjoy your videos, i just finished watching Andrew Hubermans lab podcast on “ learning skills faster” . He explains playing many repetitions quickly and ignoring mistakes as you go. Then after a period of time playing slower to cement the skill. Have you ever thought of doing a reaction video to other content creators? I would really like to hear your take on this?
That's a really interesting suggestion, John. Thanks for that, and I'll definitely look into it. (I'm not really well up on reaction videos although I'm aware they're a "thing". Will have to do a bit of research into how they work...)
All well and good in some instances, but not for the Chopin Etude in 3rds
Really? You couldn't, for example, choose to play just a single bar at a fraction of the full tempo and add in some expression?
:)
