Thank you Mary for this video..Yes loneliness can be crippling if you have not prepared yourself by finding new things to do and enjoy. I love journaling and I do this by writing letters to my late husband. Crazy as it may seem, it got me through the toughest days and months of the first three years in my widowhood.

I can be alone and not lonely. I have had this quality since childhood, and it has turned into a blessing. I need to follow your advice and go places on my own...antique malls, eateries. TY, Mary, for all you do.

I get very anxious like that too and have become physically sick when that lonliness takes over so I try getting my brain out of it by doing those word search puzzles to distract myself, I've entertained making first move but everyone I know is busy with family and I have none. So greatful for my border collie. Petting him helps. Going on 11 yrs now. I turn 70 in December, plan to retire but yep, scared too because of lonliness.

I just picked up a book at the thrift store, "Quiet" by Susan Cain. Mary Francis, have you read any of her books? "Bittersweet" seems like it would be good, too.
I also had to pick up a couple of lovely sweaters and tops at the thrift store. Really, cheap entertainment. I told the check out girl at the Salvation Army that I was a fashion snob, since I started shopping in thrift stores. I always check the tag and how well the garment is made. It is a lot of fun.
